Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a practice with a stark divide between clinical and administrative experiences. Medical professionals are frequently praised for compassion, attentiveness, and professional expertise, with patients reporting positive care outcomes. However, appointment access presents a significant barrier, with patients describing persistent difficulties reaching the practice by phone, lengthy waiting times to speak with reception staff, and challenges securing timely slots. Reception experience emerges as a key concern, with multiple reports of discourteous interactions, poor communication, and lack of responsiveness when patients attempt to book appointments or follow up on test results. The booking process itself is described as inefficient, with patients experiencing multiple failed attempts, redirects between staff members, and delays in accessing prescriptions and referrals. Internal communication between reception and clinical teams appears inconsistent, leading to gaps in information transfer and delayed patient care. While some patients report seamless, efficient visits with welcoming staff, these positive experiences contrast sharply with widespread complaints about organisational inefficiency and the accessibility of services.

The practice demonstrates professional medical expertise and genuine care during consultations, yet administrative processes significantly undermine the overall service quality. Patients express frustration that despite being registered, they struggle to access basic services, and several indicate they have switched practices due to these systemic barriers. Improvements in phone system functionality, reception training, appointment availability, and internal coordination would likely address the most frequently cited service concerns.

Dr Dogan's terrible phone manner ruins everything

I would rate this general practice with zero stars if possible. Dr. Ali Dogan displays an appalling attitude, believing his status as a partner exempts him from basic professional courtesy. I was patiently waiting for a scheduled phone consultation, during which he was extremely delayed. Upon contacting the reception to inquire about the situation, he eventually called back, but immediately launched into an aggressive tirade, declaring "you do not call me, I call you" without any acknowledgment of his tardiness. His lack of apology was striking, and it seemed evident that he had not even reviewed my medical details prior to our conversation. The practice appears understaffed, with Dr. Ali Dogan being the sole full-time physician while others work part-time. My strong recommendation is to avoid this general practice entirely.

Frustrating doctor's visit with zero help

Potentially one of the most incompetent medical practices in the nation. Communication with my physician was completely blocked, and despite being unwell, they simply redirected me to the hospital. I'm desperate to escape this horrific medical facility. They urgently need comprehensive improvements, starting from the front desk staff right through to the doctors. My experience with this general practice was absolutely miserable.

Impossible to reach the gp clinic

It's disappointing that they promise to take your call in the morning, but when you do call, they abruptly end the conversation. After multiple attempts, the line remains perpetually engaged or they simply don't answer. When I finally get through around 10 am, they claim to be fully booked and suggest calling back later or at noon, but the same frustrating pattern continues. To the GP staff, we're not trying to be a nuisance; we just need basic medical assistance. If you can't provide that, perhaps you should consider a different profession. It's a disgrace to the NHS, and our taxes seem to be going to waste for such poor service.

Frustrating phone service at oakwood medical centre

I genuinely appreciate my physician, but scheduling an appointment is an absolute nightmare. The staff responsible for managing appointments are shockingly unprofessional and inconsiderate towards patients. When you attempt to contact Oakwood Medical Centre, you're subjected to excruciatingly long wait times, and even when someone finally answers, they abruptly terminate the call before you can secure an appointment. They urgently need to replace these personnel to alleviate this frustrating experience.

Rushed appointments with clueless new doctors

Avoid this practice. The newer general practitioners lack experience and prioritize scheduling efficiency over patient care, seeming eager to rush you out. While I've previously encountered excellent doctors here, they never remain long-term. This constant turnover severely compromises the quality of ongoing medical treatment.

Five years of zero appointments

This facility deserves to be shut down. Despite being registered for 5 years, I've never managed to secure a single appointment. I've consistently relied on private healthcare, paying out of pocket. This place is absolutely terrible. The reception staff are incredibly discourteous and completely unhelpful. They're essentially being paid for doing nothing by the government. I've visited the branch multiple times, and they claim they can't even process basic transactions. If the office is incapable of performing any operations, what's its purpose? Why are these employees even working here? The state needs to take control and thoroughly investigate these staff members. They're funded by our tax money but provide zero service. The reception personnel laugh loudly and callously make patients wait outside the door. It's disgraceful. I urge everyone to file complaints and expose this incompetence.

Appointments vanish before 8:03 am

Absolutely dreadful medical practice! I've been experiencing persistent neglect for an extended period. I'm completely exhausted from attempting to schedule a doctor's consultation. On one particularly frustrating morning, I managed to call at 8:02 am only to be informed that all appointment slots were already filled - how is that even conceivable? I'm tired of being directed to call 111 or visit walk-in centres. I'm fully aware of when those services are appropriate. All I want is to secure a simple appointment with a doctor to obtain a hospital referral.

Nightmare getting a doctor's appointment here

Getting a doctor's appointment here is a total nightmare. The phone lines are perpetually busy, and the front desk staff display zero interest or willingness to assist patients. This medical practice desperately requires a fundamental restructuring, beginning with hiring competent receptionists who demonstrate genuine empathy, concern, and professional conduct. I can confidently say this is unquestionably the most incompetent surgery in the entire Barnet area!
