I've been rushed to the emergency department three times recently, and today when I attempted to schedule a doctor's appointment, I was informed I must call at 8am for triage before booking. I'm simply seeking a routine consultation, but the current booking process is incredibly frustrating. The surgery's appointment system is completely ineffective and needlessly complicated. My husband is experiencing a similar challenge trying to arrange a routine appointment for his ongoing medical issue, and we both find the triage requirement absurd. It should be straightforward to make a medical appointment without jumping through so many bureaucratic hoops. Something needs to change with this system immediately.

Unhelpful doctor refuses simple medical form request

My son, who has been with Orchard Surgery since childhood and received all his vaccines and check-ups there, needed a straightforward medical form completed - just basic measurements like height, weight, and blood pressure. He submitted the form to the receptionist, but after a week of hearing nothing, I started calling. For the next three days, I was passed between admin and the doctor with no resolution. On the 11th day, I was abruptly told the doctor wouldn't sign the form, with no explanation beyond "it's his choice." When I visited the surgery to retrieve the form and understand the issue, I was informed I'd need to pay privately. I expressed willingness to pay but emphasized that since they've held my son's medical records since birth, this would be a minimal task. Despite this, the doctor remained adamant about not completing the form. The other patients in the waiting room were visibly frustrated, rolling their eyes and shaking their heads in disbelief at the situation. I don't blame the receptionists, who seemed genuinely uncomfortable with the whole scenario. Now, I'm forced to take my son to an unfamiliar practice with no knowledge of his medical history to complete this simple form - absolutely ridiculous 🤪

The triage nurse was incredibly prompt in returning my call when I needed medical attention, which I truly appreciate 😊. I was also impressed by the physiotherapist's quick availability for an appointment. Thank you for consistently being so accommodating with follow-up appointments and doctor consultations. Throughout the challenging Covid period, Orchard Surgery has been consistently reliable. I've heard distressing accounts from others, including my parents, about the difficulties of accessing medical care at their local practices. Many other surgeries keep patients waiting endlessly on the phone, often disconnecting calls, but Orchard Surgery has never once done this, and for that, I am thankful 😍. Terrible pharmacy service for my baby's prescription

I submitted my infant's prescription over a week ago last Monday, and I'm still being informed that it hasn't been processed. By Friday, the staff claimed it was in their basket, and then a week later, they said it apparently fell out of the basket on Friday night! I visited again today, Wednesday, only to be told that the doctor hasn't signed it, leaving me with no options and unable to secure a doctor's appointment!!

I remained a patient at this medical practice for approximately 7-8 months, and their consistent response was to order blood tests instead of genuinely listening to my concerns. After switching to a different GP surgery, they reviewed my previous blood tests from three months earlier and discovered elevated infection markers that were never addressed by my previous doctors. The staff seemed completely disinterested in understanding patient symptoms, routinely dismissing concerns and defaulting to blood test referrals without proper investigation when results appeared standard. Their approach demonstrated a profound lack of patient care, and to make matters worse, appointments were chronically delayed, with tardiness being the norm rather than the exception.

Terrible service and uncaring medical staff nightmare

The surgical experience was utterly deplorable. I'm at a loss for words to express my frustration. The phone wait time is excruciating, ranging from 10 to 15 minutes before anyone even picks up. When you finally reach someone, the receptionist - who could rival a pitbull in demeanor - manages to simultaneously sound bored, arrogant, and completely indifferent. She makes you feel like an unwelcome intrusion, ultimately dismissing you with suggestions to wait for a nurse's call tomorrow, visit the local pharmacy, or go to the Haywood walk-in clinic. I can't help but wonder: if dealing with patients is such an inconvenience, why on earth did this person choose a medical career? I'm definitively switching healthcare providers!!

I received treatment for an infection, and the medication was effective for three days before losing its potency, causing me to experience even more intense pain. When I called to explain my situation, emphasizing that I'm pregnant and in significant discomfort, I was dismissively told there was nothing wrong with me. This was particularly frustrating since I had been previously treated for the same infection just a week earlier. If their assessment was correct, it would mean the previous treatment was essentially useless and ineffectively administered. The representative I spoke with seemed incredibly unprofessional and inexperienced. When I tried to communicate the severity of my condition, highlighting the potential risks of an untreated infection during pregnancy, he responded with remarkable immaturity. His suggestion that he would terminate the call if I continued expressing my concerns was absolutely inappropriate for someone in a customer service role. His behavior demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and suggested that the organization is more concerned with their own interests than patient welfare. It's disheartening to encounter such indifference, especially when dealing with a health issue. To anyone facing similar challenges, stay resilient and advocate for yourself.
