Appointment access remains the dominant concern across feedback, with patients reporting persistent difficulties reaching the practice by phone, encountering full queues immediately at opening time, and facing long waiting periods when calls do connect. The booking experience is characterised by same-day-only availability with no advance scheduling options, leaving many unable to secure consultations despite repeated attempts. Reception experience emerges as a significant issue, with multiple reports of staff displaying discourtesy, dismissiveness, and poor communication skills, though some individual staff members receive praise for professionalism and helpfulness.
Care experience feedback is mixed. While several patients commend specific doctors for compassionate, attentive listening and professional medical expertise, others describe dismissive consultations, rushed appointments, and inadequate clinical assessment. Communication gaps appear throughout, including delayed responses to requests, unavailable test results, and poor follow-up on promised actions. Long waiting times in reception areas and for callback appointments add to patient frustration.
Patients report organisational failures affecting service delivery, including medication prescription errors, unavailable treatments, and inadequate coordination between departments. Several long-term patients note significant deterioration in service quality over recent years. A small number of reviews highlight positive experiences with particular doctors and reception staff, suggesting that service quality varies considerably depending on individual staff members and circumstances.

Terrible customer service that wastes my time
Absolutely dreadful customer support, I was caller number 10 and after waiting for an hour and twenty minutes, I completely gave up. Apparently, walk-in appointments are no longer an option? Despite a text message on September 25th claiming online booking was now possible, it's still not functional. Someone urgently needs to take control of this disorganized mess and demonstrate some genuine concern for customer experience.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service
this establishment needs to shut down... I've been a patient since their renovation. The only medical guidance I received was from a digital assistant, not an actual physician. Zero diagnostic tests or specialist recommendations were provided.

Disappointing results with limited surgical confidence
Based on my personal experience, I can see why these have been criticized as insufficient, and I'm looking forward to a surgical procedure that I feel somewhat optimistic about.

Frustrating appointment system wastes my precious time
The service quality is abysmal - making an appointment seems impossible, even after receiving a letter specifying when to schedule one. I've tried calling multiple consecutive days, but each time they claim the schedule is completely booked for today. They refuse to book for the next day and simply instruct me to call again later. What kind of appointment system is this??? How is anyone supposed to actually see a doctor???

Worst medical experience ever in derby surgery
If I could award zero rating points, I absolutely would. Let me explain: this is undoubtedly the most incompetent medical practice in Derby. Completely absent medical professionals, zero organizational skills, and a clinic that's visibly struggling. To make matters worse, the front desk staff are incredibly arrogant and demonstrate zero empathy. They essentially manipulate patients into submission, then suggest calling back the next morning knowing full well you'll be caught in a bureaucratic nightmare and told "sorry" repeatedly. After an exhausting battle to secure an appointment, I finally managed to express my frustration. I arrived expecting a simple sick note, having been unwell for over a week, and was promised documentation twice by the receptionists - yet still no documentation. I'm now being threatened with removal from their patient list, and still no sick note. Truly, this surgery represents the absolute worst healthcare experience in Derby, with reception staff who are fundamentally unqualified to interact with patients and who consistently demonstrate dishonesty.

Nightmare booking a doctor's appointment with impossible system
Attempted to schedule a medical consultation first thing in the morning by phone. The reception line was consistently engaged, repeatedly directing me to redial. Each time I finally entered the queue, I was disconnected. After an exhausting 35 attempts, I surrendered. What's even more frustrating is their inflexible booking policy - appointments are strictly same-day only, which is completely absurd. It's becoming clear that securing a consultation here is practically impossible. I've reached my breaking point and will definitely be changing healthcare providers due to this unacceptable experience!

Worst customer service ever avoid at all costs
Absolutely abysmal customer service. They claim to start taking calls at 8:00 am, but the moment you dial at 8:01, they claim all slots are filled for the day - which seems completely implausible. Their behavior reeks of dishonesty. Moreover, they offer zero ability to schedule appointments ahead of time. I've been attempting to book an appointment for my mother for over a week straight, and each attempt has been futile. I'm left with no choice but to file a formal complaint about their unprofessional conduct.

Unhelpful receptionists crush patient's hope for support
I attempted to contact the surgery multiple times last week between 8 and 10 AM. On several occasions, when I finally reached the queue, I was disconnected. When I eventually spoke with a receptionist and explained that I wasn't sick but needed a sick note for my supportive company, who understand I'm caring for my elderly parents - one recently discharged from hospital after hip surgery and the other suffering from dementia - and wanted to avoid using compassionate leave on my timesheet, she abruptly hung up on me. I've been trying to reach them since 8am this morning and still haven't gotten through. It's absolutely appalling that the receptionists seem to be running the surgery. No wonder five doctors left the practice recently.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service
If I could give zero stars, I would. This surgery is completely worthless. I attempted to schedule an appointment by phone, but they never even pick up. I've never encountered a medical practice so unprofessional about basic communication.

Longtime patient loves doctor despite receptionist attitude
I've been a patient at this medical practice for six decades, and the front desk staff can be quite discourteous, depending on which employee is working. However, my physician is exceptional - I've never experienced any issues communicating with him, and he always attentively listens to my concerns.

Frustrating journey through healthcare system's broken support
My teenage son is struggling with severe anxiety, experiencing panic attacks whenever he leaves the house, which has caused him to lose significant weight. He was examined by a physician who seemed supportive and wanted to follow up in a week. I attempted to schedule another appointment, and the doctor promised to contact me. When he did call back, I felt completely dismissed, with him attributing everything to school-related issues and offering no concrete appointment to properly assess my son. The conversation felt utterly futile, like speaking to an unresponsive barrier. As a result, I've decided to switch to a different general practitioner.

Terrible service at osmaston surgery avoid at all costs
The service at Osmaston Surgery is extremely frustrating. They instruct patients to call at 8 o'clock, but when you do, they don't answer the phone. Once they finally pick up, they simply inform you that no appointments are available and suggest trying again the next day.

Great care from dr taimoor despite minor wait
Initially hesitant due to the numerous critical reviews, I found my concerns were largely unfounded. Dr. Taimoor was exceptionally helpful, providing valuable guidance and resources that quickly alleviated my apprehensions. The main drawbacks were the need to schedule appointments on the same day, preferably earlier, and the somewhat lengthy wait times in the reception area. Despite these minor inconveniences, the overall experience was positive.
