Patient Experience Summary

Appointment access remains the dominant concern across feedback, with patients reporting persistent difficulties reaching the practice by phone, encountering full queues immediately at opening time, and facing long waiting periods when calls do connect. The booking experience is characterised by same-day-only availability with no advance scheduling options, leaving many unable to secure consultations despite repeated attempts. Reception experience emerges as a significant issue, with multiple reports of staff displaying discourtesy, dismissiveness, and poor communication skills, though some individual staff members receive praise for professionalism and helpfulness.

Care experience feedback is mixed. While several patients commend specific doctors for compassionate, attentive listening and professional medical expertise, others describe dismissive consultations, rushed appointments, and inadequate clinical assessment. Communication gaps appear throughout, including delayed responses to requests, unavailable test results, and poor follow-up on promised actions. Long waiting times in reception areas and for callback appointments add to patient frustration.

Patients report organisational failures affecting service delivery, including medication prescription errors, unavailable treatments, and inadequate coordination between departments. Several long-term patients note significant deterioration in service quality over recent years. A small number of reviews highlight positive experiences with particular doctors and reception staff, suggesting that service quality varies considerably depending on individual staff members and circumstances.

Terrible service and unacceptable patient care

I've been a patient at Osmaston Surgery for over a decade, but the quality of care has drastically declined in recent years. When I urgently needed medical attention, it took them an unacceptable two and a half weeks to respond to my request for an emergency appointment. I strongly advise against choosing this medical practice. Absolutely zero stars.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service

My spouse was scheduled for a doctor's consultation, but they mistakenly assigned her to an incorrect healthcare professional. Upon arrival, we weren't even attended to, rendering the entire trip pointless. Whenever you attempt to book an appointment, they're perpetually occupied, leaving you on hold for over 20 minutes, and when you finally get through, they're completely booked. I strongly advise everyone to find a different general practitioner and avoid this clinic. It's an absolutely dreadful medical practice.

Terrible service from uncaring and dismissive doctors

If I could award zero rating points, I absolutely would. I seldom seek medical attention and have been associated with this practice since my birth nearly half a century ago, when physicians were genuinely engaged and competent. Today's visit lasted barely five minutes while I was experiencing rib discomfort. There was no meaningful consultation, zero physical examination - just a dismissive suggestion to take over-the-counter painkillers and a callous recommendation that if my workplace doesn't accommodate my condition, I should simply find alternative employment. Exceptional advice, NOT... I've now initiated the process of transferring to another medical practice, though it appears this impersonal approach is becoming distressingly widespread.

Worst medical experience ever nightmare of a clinic

Absolutely dreadful medical procedure. They harassed me with early morning calls at 8 AM for two entire months. When I finally managed to speak with someone, they claimed no appointments were open but offered a doctor's callback. Three days have passed, and no one has contacted me. This clinic is so incompetent they deserve to be shut down completely!

Worst medical experience of my life ever

Absolutely dreadful experience. Scheduling an appointment is nearly impossible, and the front desk staff come across as patronizing and dismissive. The medical professionals seem incompetent and unprofessional. I was given a prescription for a cream, and when I needed a refill, the physician berated me for using the very medication they originally prescribed. It's abundantly clear that these doctors lack basic competence and understanding. This medical practice is a complete disaster from start to finish.

Worst doctor ever unprofessional and disrespectful

Dr. Warner displays an extremely unprofessional bedside manner and lacks basic interpersonal skills required for medical practice. His interaction with my wife was shockingly disrespectful, to the point where I believe he himself needs professional counseling on appropriate patient communication. His conduct is completely unacceptable for someone in a healthcare role.

Terrible service and unprofessional medical staff

Avoid scheduling procedures with Dr. Warner at all costs - he lacks the competence to practice medicine. The appointment scheduling process is deeply flawed. In contrast, Dr. Patel and Dr. Kamath are excellent physicians who actually provide quality care.

Terrible medical service with endless phone frustration

I've been attempting to contact the surgery almost every morning at 8am for more than a month, but not a single call has connected - the line is constantly busy. Since relocating from Bradford and registering with this practice, it's been an absolute nightmare. They don't even deserve a single star, let alone five. I was meant to be referred to a rheumatologist and have been waiting since April. There's been zero communication from the doctor, not even regarding my blood tests. This is genuinely the most frustrating situation I've ever experienced! It's particularly distressing that the doctor won't authorize my repeat medication, which I've been taking for nearly 21 years. Their only response is to send a message telling me to call and schedule an appointment, but the phone lines are perpetually engaged. This surgery desperately needs to improve! It's hands-down the worst medical practice I've ever encountered. They should stop accepting new patients if they can't provide even a basic standard of service.

Terrible service that puts patients last

Absolute worst medical practice in DERBYSHIRE, without a doubt. Spent the entire morning desperately dialing 130 times, only to be repeatedly informed no appointments were available and they couldn't assist my suffering 3-year-old daughter with her excruciating UTI. Their only suggestion was an out-of-hours doctor's appointment. The reception staff displayed a shockingly indifferent, arrogant, and condescending demeanor, offering zero sympathy or apologies. The quality of this surgery has dramatically deteriorated since Dr Shand's departure. Completely and utterly Incompetent!!!!!!!

Terrible service with zero accessible appointments

I've been attempting to schedule an appointment every morning at 8 sharp, just as I've done previously, only to be consistently informed that no slots are open. The situation is incredibly exasperating. While advance bookings are possible, they typically require a two-week wait, and there are virtually no immediate callback options available - which is completely unacceptable by modern standards. This approach risks discouraging people from seeking medical attention, potentially leading them to ignore health concerns that could be critically important.

Dangerous doctor who fails to care for patients

Dr Warner displays a dangerous combination of arrogance, close-mindedness, and bias - potentially endangering patients through his dismissive, condescending approach. He fails to actively engage or investigate, ignoring patient concerns and literally not even examining reported symptoms like a rash. His medical practice seems completely disconnected from professional standards. One wonders how he maintains his medical license. Dr Artus continues to demonstrate dishonesty, despite previous disciplinary actions from the GMC, showing no capacity for improvement. The medical practice seems to have driven away competent practitioners, with quality doctors either working as locums or quickly booked up, leaving less capable physicians in place. The name Warner itself seems like a warning - proceed with extreme caution.

Frustrating phone experience with dubious booking system

When I called at 8:15, the automated system claimed all slots were completely occupied for the day. Despite this, I remained on hold, and the message indicated I was the 15th person waiting. Surprisingly, the call was handled swiftly, and I successfully secured an appointment for today. However, I'm skeptical about their assertion that all appointments were truly booked or that I was genuinely the 15th caller in the queue. It seems like they are intentionally creating unnecessary obstacles for patients seeking medical care.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service

I'd reluctantly give zero stars if possible! It's astounding this medical practice continues to operate. Getting an appointment is practically impossible at any hour. They never allow pre-scheduling, and when you finally secure a slot, they hurry you through without genuine care. The moment you describe ongoing health concerns, they swiftly dismiss you. Both the medical staff and administrative personnel display an appalling attitude - incredibly discourteous and condescending. They boast about a "zero tolerance" policy against patient misconduct, yet ironically feel entitled to treat patients with utter disrespect, whether on the phone or during in-person visits, even rolling their eyes when you're seeking medical help. Absolutely unacceptable!

This surgical practice is an absolute nightmare. Attempting to schedule an appointment is practically impossible - they consistently claim no availability or instruct you to call back at 8am the following day, but when you do, their phone lines are perpetually jammed.
