Decent surgery struggling in the post-covid era

Generally, this medical practice has consistently delivered top-notch service over many years. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, noticeable shifts have occurred. They have adopted some less favorable approaches that have been prevalent in other practices for some time. The reception staff appear to represent a new generation focused on limiting patient access to doctors. The telephone system seems either poorly designed or deliberately obstructive, with calls frequently disconnecting before anyone answers. When calls are eventually answered, unlike before the pandemic, patients now feel pressured to disclose comprehensive medical details upfront. Additionally, I've observed a growing tendency for staff to assume I'm mistaken when I raise concerns about missing prescription items. It's likely that many of these issues stem from increased patient demand and staff shortages. Despite these challenges, I still consider this a solid medical practice with the potential to return to its previous excellent standards.

don't rely on these medical professionals. They prematurely terminated my recurring medication prescription well ahead of the scheduled review, and when I contacted the office, the receptionist claimed they had completely removed it from their system!

Typically, I've enjoyed top-notch care from my general practitioner, but COVID-19 has significantly reduced my in-person clinic visits. My doctor requested that I monitor and log my blood pressure measurements throughout a seven-day period. My intention was to transmit these recorded readings as a PDF document ahead of our scheduled phone consultation today. I find myself perplexed and frustrated by the apparent absence of a contact email address for such communication.

Compassionate care from a truly exceptional medical practice

My mother sought care at this practice after relocating from Somerset in 1997 at age 70. Dr Morris and the entire medical team provided exceptional support for her complex health requirements until her passing in 2005, including home visits when she became immobile. I registered with the practice in 1997 upon moving to Macclesfield and couldn't have made a better decision. While Dr Morris has been my primary physician, I've consulted nearly all doctors and nurses over the years, and they've consistently gone above and beyond to help me, particularly with arranging scans, physiotherapy, and mental health support. They've always been compassionate and never made me feel rushed during appointments. This morning, despite being extremely busy, the incredibly empathetic receptionist noticed my distress when I couldn't reach them by phone. She kindly allowed me to wait in the waiting room and provided water. Not only that, she consulted Dr Duce, who managed to fit me in for an urgent consultation - an act of extraordinary care. I understand such immediate accommodations aren't always possible, but I'm immensely grateful. The entire team, especially during COVID-19 when they risked their own health, has consistently been supportive. It troubles me that some people might leave negative reviews when the staff consistently demonstrate such dedication and compassion. The morning's experience, with the receptionist's kindness and the doctor's flexibility, further reinforces my deep appreciation for this practice. I genuinely cannot praise them enough.

Unacceptable medical service puts child at risk

After decades of reliable service, I'm truly frustrated with the phone support today. My young granddaughter was seriously unwell, running a high fever, throwing up, and appearing extremely weak. Her mother contacted 111 and was urgently advised to see the GP immediately. When we attempted to call the surgery, the phone rang continuously for five minutes before disconnecting. Multiple attempts yielded no response. Ultimately, my husband had to drive to the practice and demand an explanation. Their casual response was simply that they had staff shortages. It's unacceptable that they don't implement a proper queuing system for phone calls during such critical situations. I'm now preparing a formal complaint to the practice manager about this unprofessional and potentially dangerous communication breakdown.

I deducted 2 stars due to their subpar phone support. The call queues are excessively lengthy, and the customer service representatives display a remarkable lack of engagement, bordering on discourteous behavior. I'm not anticipating a lengthy, casual chat during peak hours, but when I'm explaining my concerns, I at least want some indication that they're documenting my issue. On a positive note, the medical staff - doctors and nurses - are generally pleasant, and we've adjusted our expectations about seeing the same healthcare provider consistently.

Negligent care endangers patients and breaks trust

I'm utterly frustrated with this medical practice. They've completely neglected my elderly father over recent months, which tragically led to him suffering a hip fracture after a fall. Since then, he's been repeatedly hospitalized, and the practice has shown zero communication about his condition or rehabilitation. Their attitude seems to be one of pure indifference, which is absolutely unacceptable. Even a year later, the service remains abysmal. The nurses consistently ignore e-consults, leaving them unaddressed. I haven't had a prescription review in a year and a half, and my mother is still waiting on a referral for an x-ray from the previous year. This practice has become a complete nightmare, and despite being a lifelong patient, I can confidently say their standards have never been this appalling.

Utterly appalling how calls go unanswered, with front desk personnel displaying an attitude of complete indifference and self-absorption. They seem more interested in gossiping amongst themselves about trivial personal matters than attending to their professional responsibilities. This is hands-down the most abysmal customer service I've ever encountered, and the medical staff are equally disappointing - appearing to only provide attention when a patient is practically at death's door.

FLU CLINIC - Saturday 11 September. KUDOS to the entire team at the healthcare facility. What initially seemed like a potential logistical nightmare turned out to be surprisingly smooth. The process was quick and efficient, with me completing everything in just 10 minutes. Despite the challenging road conditions, the staff managed the operation impressively well. Getting an appointment here is incredibly frustrating! While the care staff are fantastic, the reception team is consistently unavailable. I've been attempting to schedule a cervical screening for an entire week and I'm close to abandoning my efforts.
