Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice with significant operational challenges, particularly around appointment access and reception experience. Booking appointments emerges as a persistent difficulty, with patients reporting lengthy telephone waiting times, limited availability, and cancelled appointments without notice. Reception staff responsiveness is frequently cited as problematic, with accounts of discourtesy, dismissiveness, and poor communication between front desk and clinical teams.

Positive feedback, though less frequent, highlights instances of helpful and courteous reception staff, professional medical care from doctors and nurses, and supportive communication when patients do connect with staff. Some patients report smooth registration processes and prompt access to specialist referrals. However, these positive experiences appear inconsistent across the practice.

Broader service concerns include prescription processing delays, inadequate care coordination, and challenges with communication about test results and medical decisions. Patients express frustration with waiting experiences, both for appointments and on telephone lines, alongside difficulties navigating the booking system. While clinical staff competence is occasionally praised, systemic issues with appointment availability, reception accessibility, and overall responsiveness to patient needs dominate the feedback pattern.

Exceptional healthcare with a personal touch

I've been a patient at this healthcare facility since 2002, and my experience has been consistently excellent. The medical personnel—from doctors to nurses—are both welcoming and professional. I appreciate that the quality of care is a collaborative effort, with mutual respect and communication playing a key role!

Worst medical experience ever with rude staff

I was transferring my medical records from my Bristol practice and quickly realized I'd prefer having no GP at all rather than registering with this one. The receptionist is hands-down the most inflexible and dismissive individual I've ever encountered! Her knowledge is severely lacking, and to make matters worse, she was completely unwilling to hear me out. When she claimed she would consult her supervisor, I hoped for some resolution, but instead the supervisor approached me and aggressively demanded that I leave. I attempted to explain my situation, pleading for her to hear me out, but she flatly ignored everything I was saying. It's absolutely incomprehensible how such unprofessional staff can be employed in a medical practice with such a terrible attitude.

Terrible healthcare at park lane medical practice

Absolutely zero stars would be more appropriate. I strongly advise residents of SN1, SN2, or those near Park Lane GP to steer clear of this practice, especially if you have children. Avoid registering your kids here at all costs. It's no surprise that numerous patients are voicing serious complaints about this medical facility.

Frustrating registration with impossible timing

Oh goodness. After discovering I wasn't in my preferred healthcare provider's postcode area, I reluctantly decided to register with Park Lane since it was the closest option. The mediocre two-star rating made me hesitant, but I figured, how bad could it be...? I carefully completed the registration paperwork, prepared my identification, and felt prepared. I arrived just after work at 5:45pm, shortly before their 6pm closing time. To my frustration, the patients' entrance was locked. I called the reception from mere steps away and was informed that patients are recommended to arrive before 5pm, with some unspecified "processes to complete". But I had already filled out all the necessary forms - surely this was just a simple administrative handover? My work schedule makes it impossible to arrive before 5pm, despite them being technically open until 6pm. What a completely pointless experience. I'll probably just wait until I'm seriously ill and go straight to the hospital. I shudder to think about the challenges faced by patients already registered with this practice.

Terrible service and unhelpful receptionists

If I could give zero stars, I would. Forced to reluctantly award a single, undeserved star. Getting an appointment here seems impossible, and the front desk staff offer zero meaningful guidance. Quick update: spent 52 minutes on hold today, burning through £3 of phone credit. The so-called "receptionist" was completely clueless about medical terminology and contradicted the information from yesterday's call. Previously, I was made to feel stupid for calling in the afternoon, told to ring at 0830, but today's staff suggested afternoon calls are best. Absolutely pointless. The most constructive suggestion was to go private - which I suspect is exactly what the healthcare system wants. Still completely in the dark about how to secure an appointment at this place.

Compassionate doctors deliver tough news with care

I visited the medical facility this Monday to receive my blood test outcomes. While the findings weren't favorable, the manner in which the information was communicated was exceptional. The staff provided me with comprehensive and helpful guidance regarding my condition, demonstrating a high level of professionalism throughout our interaction.

Worst medical experience ever shocking healthcare failure

I'm utterly frustrated with my GP's handling of my medical situation. After waiting three weeks for an appointment, they cancelled it just a day before, and then inappropriately referred me to physiotherapy for a condition that wasn't even related to physical therapy. When I tried to resolve this, I spent an exhausting 1 hour and 20 minutes on hold, only to be informed that no appointments were available for the next three weeks. Despite my worsening symptoms of fever, lower back pain, and frequent urination, the receptionist was completely dismissive and unwilling to listen to my concerns. I'm bewildered and angry that I'm paying substantial national insurance contributions yet receiving such poor, unresponsive medical care. The entire experience is completely unacceptable and defies all reasonable expectations of healthcare service!

Frustrating registration process wastes my time

I approached this medical practice seeking registration and was initially informed that I could proceed, receiving a form to complete. Promptly, I filled out the paperwork and submitted it the same day to avoid any potential treatment delays. However, two weeks later, I was informed that my residential address falls outside their service area, rendering my registration invalid. They claimed they attempted to contact me but could only reach my voicemail (despite never leaving an actual message), which they knew was due to my workplace phone restrictions. As a result, I now find myself in a challenging situation—urgently needing medical attention, with a delayed treatment, and still uncertain about which GP practice will accept my registration, as the original practice provided no meaningful guidance or assistance.

Unprofessional clinic ruined our long-awaited appointment

My encounter was absolutely dreadful. I had scheduled a medical consultation at the clinic, which led my spouse and me to reschedule our work commitments, having already endured a four-month waiting period for this procedure. Upon arriving punctually, I was unexpectedly informed that my appointment had been unilaterally rescheduled to two weeks later, with no prior notification. Frankly, I was left feeling devastated and completely insignificant today.

Frustrating flu jab booking nightmare with nhs

I got a notification from the National Health Service requesting I schedule my influenza vaccination, so I phoned Park Lane Medical Centre. I was eighth in the queue and spent over half an hour waiting. When I finally spoke with the receptionist and explained I wanted to book my flu shot, she verified my personal information and then placed me on hold. Someone briefly answered, said hello, and then immediately disconnected the call. I'm completely bewildered by the situation and had expected someone would return my call... yet an hour has passed and I'm still waiting with no resolution.

Terrible service leaving patients without proper care

The medical practice is absolutely dreadful, and I've been a long-standing patient experiencing the worst service ever. Whenever I attempt to schedule an appointment, I'm constantly redirected to urgent care or told to call 119, which clearly explains why Great Western Hospital is completely overwhelmed. My B12 injection is past due, and I've been instructed to call back in a week with the possibility of booking a slot in December, as they're fully booked throughout November. There's absolutely no sense of patient care whatsoever. I've been desperately trying to secure an appointment for weeks without success, and I would even settle for a telephone consultation at this point. To make matters worse, I've now developed a urinary tract infection, yet still receive no assistance from this surgery.

Frustrating medication mix-up leaves patient in pain

Submitted my prescription renewal over a week back, but it never reached the pharmacy. I contacted the medical practice, expecting a callback that never came. Upon calling again, I was informed that I've been removed from my pain medication due to potential interactions with my blood pressure drugs. No one bothered to communicate this to me, leaving me to endure ongoing pain. The incompetence of this medical practice is absolutely frustrating.
