Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals significant challenges with appointment access and booking systems, with patients consistently reporting difficulties securing timely consultations through both phone and online channels. Phone lines remain frequently unavailable or busy during opening hours, while online booking platforms experience capacity issues and technical problems. Reception experience emerges as a major concern, with multiple reports of discourteous, dismissive, or unhelpful interactions, though some patients describe positive encounters with courteous staff. Communication and follow-up present recurring issues, including missed referrals, delayed prescription processing, and inadequate notification of test result problems or appointment cancellations.

In contrast, several patients commend the clinical care provided by medical professionals, praising responsive doctors and nurses who demonstrate genuine concern and competence. Digital services such as online consultations and medication ordering receive positive feedback when functioning effectively. A subset of reviews highlight exceptional reception staff professionalism and compassion, suggesting variable service quality across different interactions.

The practice appears to face systemic organisational challenges affecting service delivery, with patients noting deterioration since the pandemic and frustration with the shift toward digital-only appointment systems. While some recognise resource constraints within the NHS, others express concern about inadequate contingency planning, poor communication protocols, and insufficient staffing to manage patient demand effectively.

Terrible healthcare experience with uncaring medical staff

Every physician at this clinic seems completely indifferent to patient health. Constantly seeking explanations only to be dismissed and assured everything is normal while enduring continuous daily distress. STAY AWAY!!

Incompetent gp practice with repeated sample failures

I encountered an extremely subpar general practitioner in the United Kingdom. When I submitted a blood sample for a blood sugar test, the receptionist contacted me the following day to inform me that the sample vial was compromised and therefore invalid. I provided another sample, only to receive the identical feedback that the sample was unusable due to delays in transportation to the pathology lab. Additionally, I submitted a urine sample alongside the blood sample, and I have now received a third call indicating that the urine sample must also be repeated because the previous specimen was spoiled and rendered unusable. This medical practice urgently requires a comprehensive evaluation by the National Health Service.

Mixed experiences with caring reception and gp services

I've been a patient at this practice for half a decade now. I must commend the reception staff, who are consistently warm, compassionate, and supportive, even during the most demanding situations. The GPs are a bit of a mixed bag - some are wonderful, while others come across as condescending and dismissive, though I understand the immense pressure of their role. I'm still trying to navigate the practice's systems, which seem to shift unpredictably, and their website is far from user-friendly. The engage-consult system feels particularly challenging, with very limited availability throughout the day. In my experience, visiting the reception directly is the most effective communication method, as phone lines are perpetually jammed and the online system is unreliable. Despite these frustrations, I remain fundamentally satisfied with the practice, and they have consistently been there when I've needed support. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the reception and management team - your efforts do not go unnoticed and are truly valued.

Terrible customer service from rude and unprofessional staff

I believe the receptionist just abruptly ended our call. It's absolutely appalling how poorly the staff handle customer interactions. They clearly need comprehensive training in professional communication. Even though I wasn't being confrontational, the treatment was unacceptable. A word of advice: if interacting with people is challenging for you, perhaps it's time to explore a different career path. It's that straightforward. I genuinely don't think you're suited for a customer-facing role.

Frustrating medication delay for my injured mother

My mother is a patient here and recently suffered a femur fracture. Following her discharge, she required additional pain medication and blood clot prevention injections. I initiated the request on a bank holiday Sunday, then contacted the surgery Tuesday to alert them she had only one injection remaining. The staff assured me it would be processed urgently. I attempted to follow up Wednesday without success, and my mother called Thursday morning, being told it would be handled as an emergency. By afternoon, a visit to the pharmacy revealed nothing had been done, and subsequent calls promised end-of-day resolution. At 6 PM, the prescription was still unprocessed. Frustrated, I decided to camp in reception and declared I wouldn't leave until the matter was resolved. Eventually, the receptionist engaged the GP, who completed the prescription. However, obtaining the injection became another challenge, requiring visits to five different pharmacies before finding one with stock. I'm left questioning the practice's genuine concern for patient care, as their apparent indifference is deeply troubling.

Endless waiting game for a simple doctor's visit

I've been trying to secure a GP appointment for two months now, facing constant setbacks. My initial consultation was abruptly cancelled by the clinic due to staff illness. The second attempt was thwarted by a junior doctors' strike. I was eventually rescheduled and given an appointment four weeks later. Yesterday, I waited for nearly an hour, only to discover that my GP wasn't even present in the facility. Now I'm pinning my hopes on this fourth appointment, desperately hoping I'll finally get to see a healthcare professional.

Terrible healthcare experience with unprofessional and heartless staff

The employees display an appalling lack of professionalism, with their volatile temperaments and complete inability to plan or manage tasks effectively. They demonstrate a shocking lack of compassion, even going so far as to criticize patients for their medical conditions, which is entirely inappropriate in a healthcare environment where empathy should be paramount.

Terrible service and uncaring healthcare at this practice

The phone line remains perpetually busy, and even when physically present at the reception, no staff appear to be on calls, yet the line is unavailable (between 8am and 8:30am). Upon finally connecting, you're informed that no appointments remain for the day. They seemingly postpone action until your medical condition deteriorates before considering a face-to-face consultation. Consequently, I was compelled to transfer my registration to an alternative general practitioner. I strongly caution anyone against choosing this particular GP surgery if they genuinely value their well-being.

Impossible phone lines ruin potential great healthcare

Getting through on the phone lines here is absolutely futile! Attempting to schedule an appointment first thing in the morning is an exercise in pure frustration. You'd have better luck headbutting a wall than successfully booking a slot. This might be an excellent medical practice, but patients will never discover that because the appointment system is completely impenetrable.

Terrible healthcare service leaves patient frustrated

Complete waste of time dealing with this medical practice. Tried calling at 8am only to encounter a constantly engaged phone line. Contacted Tey Ingatestone for guidance and was informed I'd already hit some arbitrary limit by 7:35am, despite their online service supposedly starting at 7:30am. When I finally got through, they dismissively suggested I visit a walk-in centre instead. I specifically registered with this surgery as my family doctors, not to be redirected to a walk-in centre. What's the point of having a medical practice if they refuse to properly interact with and support their own patients?

Terrible service and unhelpful staff at surgery

I only reach out when absolutely necessary.. today's attempt to use online engagement failed miserably. A receptionist dismissively directed me to the walk-in centre. Last week, I sought help for my child who had been vomiting for over a week.. once again, they showed zero concern and simply advised me to wait five hours at the walk-in centre with a continuously ill child. In the past, this was an exceptional medical practice that I'd been loyal to since my son's infancy. Sadly, their standards have dramatically deteriorated. As a result, we've made the difficult decision to transfer to a different doctor's surgery.

Worst medical service ever experienced in my life

I've spent nearly three hours this morning, from 8am to 10:49am, repeatedly attempting to contact the medical practice, making a staggering 552 calls, yet I cannot get through. There are no available online consultation slots either. It's completely understandable why walk-in centres and emergency departments are overwhelmed when healthcare access is this challenging right now.
