Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reflects a mixed experience with significant variation in service quality across different areas of the practice. Medical professionals, nursing staff, and reception teams receive consistent praise for courtesy, compassion, and responsiveness, with many patients highlighting supportive care delivery and helpful assistance. The digital platform for booking and communication is noted as accessible and functional.

However, substantial challenges emerge around appointment availability and waiting times, which represent the most frequently cited concern across reviews. Patients report extended waits ranging from several weeks to months for standard consultations, with some describing the booking process as frustratingly difficult. Reception staff stress appears evident in some interactions, and several patients note rushed consultations and communication gaps. Additionally, barriers to accessing medication management and prescription renewals are reported, including outdated digital systems requiring in-person visits for password resets.

Continuity of care concerns are mentioned, with some patients experiencing inconsistent follow-up and gaps in communication about appointments and diagnoses. While the practice demonstrates genuine clinical competence and supportive care when patients access appointments, the systemic challenges around booking availability and access create significant friction in the patient experience.

Disappointing healthcare with no real mental support

Peaseway is an absolute disaster. Securing an appointment is nearly impossible. When you call at 8 AM for same-day slots, they vanish within a minute. My mental health struggles are consistently dismissed, with doctors seemingly uncomfortable addressing PTSD as if it's a taboo subject. During my rare GP consultation, intended to secure interim support before CBT contact, the doctor offered nothing substantial. She lazily suggested an online chat and bizarrely asked me to define the call's purpose. Her primary recommendation was expensive medication that essentially dulls your senses and triggers panic attacks, providing zero meaningful assistance. The entire experience is a frustrating cycle of endless waiting lists with no real support.

Bad!

Terrible healthcare service for struggling elderly patient

I recently called to schedule a consultation with the asthma nurse, and as a 75-year-old struggling with respiratory issues, I was dismayed to learn that the earliest available appointment is not until August 27th. The staff's suggestion to contact an alternative number for breathing difficulties is unhelpful, as I've already forgotten the contact information they provided.

Shocking

From misdiagnosis, to incorrect meds prescribed, and the final straw the GP not showing for the appointment. And you know how difficult it is to get an appointment with an actual GP. I waited 6 weeks to see the GP, then they just didn’t show. The reception offered another appointment 2 weeks later.

Terrible healthcare experience leaving me frustrated and unhelped

Completely futile experience. I've visited urgent care multiple times, and the general practitioner shows zero interest in providing any meaningful follow-up care. Booking an appointment via phone is impossible, and their e-consult service is severely restricted, only opening at 8am. This approach is utterly useless if you're dealing with a serious medical condition.

Nightmare healthcare with impossible appointment system

Scheduling an appointment here is a nightmare. After my daughter's surgery, the nurse (who was fantastic) recommended a doctor's consultation. When I approached reception, they informed me the earliest slot was 45 days out, suggesting I either call at 8am or use their online booking system. The online service, which is only accessible for a brief window at 8am, proved utterly useless. I called at 8:01, and predictably, all appointments were already taken. The online system couldn't even evaluate her symptoms and directed me back to phone booking. This experience is incredibly frustrating, and it seems our only recourse will be to burden the emergency department with our medical needs.

Just don't care

Had to wait 8 weeks to get an appointment to renew a prescription. After all the suffering endured during that time, the GP failed to show for the appointment. Went to reception, and they offered me a new appointment, a month later!! Another time the GP made a gross error in prescribing medications. Gave a diagnoses and prescription for an old issue, rather than the new and completely different one logged in the e-consult.

Terrible service from unhelpful and unresponsive doctors

A medical practice that epitomizes frustration. Their appointment scheduling is a nightmare, consistently offering slots months down the line and routinely redirecting patients to call 111. It's baffling to comprehend the purpose of such a practice when they systematically push patients towards alternative medical services instead of providing direct care.

Terrible service and impossible appointments at pease way

I've been a patient at Pease Way surgery since returning to town in 2020, and I'm thoroughly disappointed. Securing a doctor's appointment is incredibly challenging - nurses seem to handle most tasks these days. It's absurd that they require you to submit an injury photo, only to direct you to A&E. I have a septic splinter in my little finger that simply needs removing. The female doctor was friendly but admitted no one was qualified to extract my splinter. The staff are generally pleasant, often looking slightly embarrassed when explaining no appointments are available. They frequently change scheduled nurse appointments - one of mine was shifted from April to June and now sits in November! Seriously, Pease Way needs to get their act together and stop operating as if COVID is still at its peak. I'm definitely searching for an alternative medical practice.

Awful wait time for urgent pain medication support

After relocating in 2019, I became a member of peaseway without any issues. Recently, following my knee replacement surgery, I attempted to order pain medication online. Five days later, I received a notification that a doctor's phone consultation was required. The receptionist was helpful, but the earliest available appointment is in 36 days - 36 days away! This seems completely unreasonable for someone seeking pain relief after a major surgical procedure.

Peaseway surgery disappoints with endless covid delays

I've been a patient at Peaseway Surgery since 2005 and have always found the staff exceptional, but since 2020 and the pandemic, securing appointments has become as challenging as attempting to infiltrate a high-security facility! The fact that the Surgery persistently uses COVID protocols as an excuse to limit patient interactions makes it stand out negatively in the town, where other medical practices are more welcoming. Four years post-COVID, I find the appointment process increasingly frustrating, particularly after the retirement of two outstanding doctors, Scott and Clarke. It appears that patient care has become an afterthought. Due to these unreasonable wait times, even for a simple phone consultation, we're considering switching practices - a decision that genuinely saddens me, as Peaseway has historically been outstanding. However, continuing to cite COVID restrictions after four years simply doesn't make sense anymore. I want to emphasize that this critique is not directed at the staff, who remain consistently excellent. My concern is specifically with the waiting times, which seem uniquely problematic to this surgery. I would still recommend the Surgery, but with the caveat that it's not suitable if you require a prompt resolution.

Persistent doctor finally solves years of lung struggles

For four years, my partner was dismissed regarding his lung issues, but thanks to Dr. Bremner's efforts to address his breathing difficulties, he has now received a pacemaker. We're grateful to her, though this should have been identified and addressed much earlier.

Terrible service left me suffering with uti

I called on Monday regarding a urinary tract infection and was brushed aside, advised to visit Boots for assessment since they claimed they couldn't help. When I rang again on Tuesday, they scheduled a phone consultation, promising antibiotics would be sent to the pharmacy immediately. Five hours later, I'm still waiting, having endured this excruciating pain for five days now! All they need to do is approve the prescription before moving to their next patient, but they're completely failing to do so!!!

Terrible service from unhelpful medical practice

Appalling medical service where they denied my medication due to an overdue review, forcing me to accept meds without properly verifying their suitability for my current condition. They're refusing to let me see a doctor about a persistent mouth lump, instead suggesting I email them - which is ridiculous since they can't diagnose anything online. The receptionist was absolutely terrible, possibly the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered. I've never needed doctors before because I was always healthy, but now that I'm unwell, I'm genuinely concerned about receiving appropriate treatment. Without a proper review, how can they ensure my medication is correct? A simple blood test and blood pressure check would resolve this, so I'm baffled why I must wait four months.
