Unhelpful receptionist made my prescription request difficult

The receptionist's performance was unacceptable. As a pregnant patient on Labetalol, I called on 14/08/2025 (a Thursday) to request a repeat prescription. Instead of processing my request, the staff member began interrogating me, claiming it wasn't the right time. I explained that my dosage had been increased from 200mg to 400mg daily by midwives and consultants at Jessop wings. She insisted the change was not in my records and refused to submit the order. When I contacted the pharmacy, they confirmed no prescription had been placed. I had to call back on Friday and speak with a different receptionist who finally processed the order. Due to this staff member's unnecessary obstruction, I was unable to obtain my medication, and since the pharmacy is closed on weekends, I was left without my essential prescription.

I have repeatedly voiced my frustrations to medical staff, including doctors, nurses, and reception personnel, over multiple years and often on a monthly basis. My monthly prescription consistently fails to be processed correctly, despite repeated assurances that it has been sent to the pharmacy. No matter how many times I reach out to the surgery, the situation remains unresolved. I find myself constantly shuttling back and forth, experiencing this ongoing issue long before the pandemic emerged. Surely, such a basic administrative task can be managed without causing me such monthly inconvenience and stress that is driving me to the brink of exasperation. This should undoubtedly be a standard, seamless procedure for any general practitioner's office.

I am thoroughly dissatisfied with this medical practice, which represents the most abysmal healthcare service I have ever encountered. The staff, from reception to the doctors, consistently demonstrate rudeness, lack of empathy, and an unwillingness to provide appropriate medical care. Multiple times in recent weeks, patients have reported waiting 20-39 minutes without being called, only to be blamed by receptionists for not signing in on an obscured machine located at the back of the waiting room. The arrival process is poorly communicated, with tiny notices placed well above eye level and written exclusively in English. When patients are marked as "did not attend," the reception staff show zero compassion, even towards visibly unwell and distressed individuals. The receptionist's attitude is so harsh that patients have been driven to tears. Moreover, the practice's policy of allowing patients to address only one medical concern per appointment is incredibly restrictive. The entire experience is so frustrating and unprofessional that I strongly advise anyone seeking medical care to avoid this surgery and seek alternatives, which is precisely what I intend to do.

Terrible service at gp clinic disappoints patient

Completely unacceptable service. I scheduled an Asthma Review with Nurse Sheryse Ward 6 days in advance for a 3pm appointment. Upon arrival, the receptionist informed me that my slot had been arbitrarily shifted to 4pm due to a "rota change". I firmly requested maintaining the original time, explaining I couldn't afford to wait an extra hour for a brief 15-minute consultation. The receptionist claimed she would consult the nurse and provide an update. I sat in the waiting area for half an hour before she made no effort to communicate with me, only responding when I proactively sought information. This entire experience was a pointless waste of my time, which could have been easily resolved with a simple phone call. Absolutely ineffective and unprofessional medical practice.

Spent 18 months at this medical facility and received zero effective assistance. At one point, my toes were discolored for days, and their entire response was attempting to scrub away the blackness with soap - absolutely ridiculous 😂 Eventually, they inexplicably misplaced my entire medical file and claimed I wasn't even registered in their system. Turned out to be a fortunate mistake, as I swiftly switched primary care providers. The entire experience was utterly absurd.

They've been incredibly understanding about my medical cannabis use, and I've found the medical staff consistently dedicated to helping me make well-informed health choices. Specifically, Doctor Lambert and Doctor Hudson have been exceptional in addressing my gender transition within my broader health context. Over the past month, I've reached out twice for mental health support, and each time the receptionists ensured I received immediate attention. My consultations with Doctor Thakray and Doctor Elliot were both incredibly positive, with both professionals showing tremendous support and flexibility. I cannot overemphasize how profoundly the Porterbrook team has helped me feel secure and cared for during a vulnerable period. While NHS services inevitably face resource constraints, it's abundantly clear that the staff's primary focus remains the patients' welfare and best interests.
