Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice facing significant challenges with appointment access and reception experience, though care quality when accessed remains a strength. The most persistent complaint centres on booking difficulties, with patients reporting extended phone queues, frequent call disconnections, long waiting periods for appointments, and inadequate online booking systems. Reception staff conduct varies considerably, with some patients experiencing dismissive or unprofessional behaviour, whilst others report courteous interactions. Communication issues extend beyond initial booking, including problems with prescription processing and appointment cancellations without notice.

When patients reach clinical staff, experiences are notably more positive. Medical professionals are frequently described as attentive, thorough, and responsive to urgent needs, with several patients expressing gratitude for compassionate care and effective treatment. Nursing and allied health staff similarly receive praise for their professionalism and skill. This disparity suggests the practice delivers quality clinical care but struggles with operational systems and front-facing service delivery.

The feedback indicates systemic organisational challenges that require attention to appointment booking infrastructure, reception staff training and support, and communication processes. Patients acknowledge broader NHS pressures but emphasise that fundamental service improvements in these areas would significantly enhance their experience and confidence in the practice.

Loyal patient praises dedicated nhs healthcare team

Throughout my four-decade journey as a patient at Porterbrook, I've witnessed the immense challenges facing the National Health Service. Yet, even amid these significant challenges, I have consistently received exceptional care and treatment. I am deeply appreciative of the dedicated service they have provided me over all these years.

Terrible service and misleading communication at clinic

Terrible experience. Scheduling an appointment is a nightmare. They misled me during our phone conversation, claiming a transfer of care from another hospital to Royal Hallamshire was unfeasible, when in fact an Inter-Trust Placement is entirely legal and a patient's right. I strongly advise against choosing this healthcare provider.

Frustrating healthcare experience with poor patient service

Getting an appointment here is an absolute nightmare. The waiting lines are endless, and you're frequently either dismissed or met with an automated message stating no staff is available. I'm seriously considering finding another healthcare provider. It seems like they've overextended themselves and can no longer manage their patient load effectively.

Compassionate care for seniors with complex health needs

My spouse and I have been long-standing patients at this medical clinic for decades. We are both senior citizens past 75 years old. Throughout this time, my husband has received outstanding treatment for a critical cardiac issue, including prompt same-day appointments when needed and exceptional coordination with hospital specialists.

Frustrating phone support ruins healthcare experience

Good heavens, they're making things unnecessarily complicated... While the medical professionals I've encountered have been fantastic, the administrative staff on the phone seem to operate within an absurdly convoluted system that defies all logic and reason.

Compassionate care from amazing medical professional

Immense gratitude to Amanda for her attentiveness in hearing my health concerns and proposing a remedy. I'm truly thankful for her dedication today. The staff are clearly dealing with overwhelming pressure due to the practice's high patient volume, and it's evident they're working under significant strain. The phone system has undergone a remarkable upgrade, now allowing callback requests when you reach the queue's front - a fantastic alternative to endless waiting. Sincere appreciation.

Terrible service with zero appointment availability

Completely futile when it comes to scheduling, there are zero available slots - and by zero, I mean they consistently advise you to call back next week, only to repeat the same frustrating cycle. I genuinely feel for the staff who are forced to repeatedly inform patients that being registered here is essentially meaningless. I'm desperate to uncover the secret method for securing an appointment. Instead, I'll be dedicating my entire weekend to waiting in the children's hospital emergency room to have my 4-year-old's foot examined, which is just fantastic.

Rude receptionists ruin the entire medical experience

The front desk personnel consistently give the impression that patients are an inconvenience when they contact the medical office, especially during times of illness. The reception staff urgently need to adjust their approach and become more empathetic towards those seeking medical assistance.

Terrible healthcare with zero patient care

Completely worthless service. They're perpetually booked out, with no slots open until the next week. It's crystal clear they couldn't care less about patient care. I've been struggling with the same medical problem for four years, and they still haven't bothered to refer me to a specialist. Their go-to solution is just to toss antibiotics at me and hope the issue magically disappears. An absolutely disgraceful medical practice that fails to provide any meaningful healthcare.

Compassionate care with occasional long wait times

I've been a long-time patient at this practice, and with the exception of one doctor, the staff have consistently been compassionate and helpful. Terrible medical practice with frustrating patient experience

This facility demands immediate scrutiny - medical concerns are now essentially filtered by front desk staff who claim it's for appointment accuracy ??? The wait time is approaching two hours. I intend to file a formal complaint and advise others to do the same - their operational approach is utterly incomprehensible.

Poor!

Frustrating phone system mars excellent GP care

Reaching this medical practice is an absolute ordeal! I've been disconnected seven times this morning alone, each time greeted by some convoluted "unity phone system" message. It instructs you to use the hash key for accessing messages after enduring agonizing waits of 7 to 15 minutes. Then, you're left in limbo, seemingly in a queue with no indication of how long you'll be stuck there. I've thrown in the towel after a grueling 1 hour and 10 minutes during this particular attempt, following those seven infuriating disconnections. I must admit, once you finally get through, especially if you manage to speak with a GP, the service is commendable. However, the prospect of battling through the receptionist gauntlet fills me with utter dread.

Poor service and rude staff at medical center

The reception experience at this medical center left much to be desired. A young staff member's discourteous attitude and use of the pandemic as a justification for subpar appointment scheduling was disappointing. It's high time they ceased using COVID-19 as a shield for their inadequacies. The situation remains chaotic. Several months later, I encountered further issues when contacting their out-of-hours service. The woman who answered was brusque and unhelpful, insisting the center wasn't open despite online information indicating otherwise. She seemed more concerned with correcting me about their opening time than offering assistance. Her lack of interest in addressing my needs was evident, concluding with a perfunctory apology and claim of powerlessness. This level of service is unacceptable, especially considering the fees we pay. One must question the competence of those running this establishment and whether they truly prioritize patient care.

Terrible service during my covid nightmare

I'm currently battling Covid and feeling absolutely terrible. After enduring a 20-minute wait, the phone representative first claimed I wasn't registered (despite being a patient since 2017) and then mockingly told me there's no medication for my condition. The least they could do is show some compassion and basic human decency - laughing at someone who's sick is completely unacceptable customer service!!

Positive experience at misunderstood surgery

I've been a patient at this medical practice for a while now, and I must say, my experience has been nothing but positive. It's puzzling to see the negative feedback from others, as I've encountered no issues whatsoever during my time here. The care I've received has been consistently satisfactory, leaving me wondering about the basis for the unfavorable comments I've come across. Perhaps I've been fortunate, but my interactions with the staff and physicians have always been pleasant and professional.
