Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reflects a mixed experience across the practice. Many patients report positive interactions with clinical and reception staff, highlighting courtesy, respect, and care quality during appointments. First-time patients particularly note the welcoming environment and reassurance provided. Waiting times are minimal, and those attending scheduled appointments often experience efficient, on-time visits with helpful staff demonstrating clinical competence.

However, significant concerns emerge around appointment access and booking processes. The same-day appointment system creates considerable difficulty for patients seeking to plan care, with some unable to secure appointments despite health concerns. Appointment cancellations without notice have occurred, and the booking experience is described as challenging. Additionally, patients report frustration with medication management processes, including lengthy delays in obtaining repeat prescriptions and coordination gaps between different service areas.

Administrative and digital platform issues compound these challenges. Communication gaps exist between departments, and the digital booking system functions poorly with inadequate integration to NHS services. Some patients describe staff as dismissive when explaining appointment constraints, and there are isolated reports of care quality concerns. While clinical competence is generally recognised, the overall coordination and responsiveness to patient needs requires improvement.

Repeat prescriptions process is frustratingly difficult

A couple of clinicians at this practice stand out as genuinely competent, which represents the only positive aspect I can highlight. Securing appointments presents considerable difficulty, and the process for obtaining repeat medications is frustratingly cumbersome, often stretching across multiple weeks with back-and-forth communications and reception staff proving unhelpful and obstructive throughout. The digital platform functions poorly and lacks proper integration with the NHS app, which has become practically essential given how challenging it is to book appointments through conventional means. A recent situation exemplified these issues when I was required to attend an in-person consultation with an unfamiliar clinician to review my medications, despite having received a review just ten days earlier where I was advised that dosage adjustments might be necessary. However, these medications could not be dispensed despite being on my repeat list, as an in-person appointment was deemed mandatory, with availability only ten days away, meaning I would effectively be without medication for that period after being told continuity was critical. Attempting to circumvent such frustrating and seemingly avoidable appointments by requesting medications in advance proves counterproductive, as these requests are rejected for being premature. The overall coordination between different parts of the service is severely lacking, and the experience feels fundamentally flawed.

Front desk staff made me feel welcome

Absolutely amazing front desk team and the review nurse was lovely. My first visit with the doctor was excellent - they were absolutely brilliant. It's a lovely practice that has clearly improved, and I'd say they're the best doctor I've seen in quite some time.

Appointment system made my condition worse

I have had to arrive late to work on two occasions while attempting unsuccessfully to secure an appointment on the same day. I took time off during the morning to visit a walk-in centre, where I was advised that I needed to see a GP. Despite my health concerns becoming more serious, I reluctantly arranged an appointment for a Saturday two weeks ahead, only for it to be cancelled without notice on that day itself. This situation has been particularly difficult for those of us who are employed or self-employed, and I believe it raises concerns about the accessibility of healthcare services. I have found it challenging to compare this experience favourably with other services I have used.

Frustrating day-to-day appointment system

I have never experienced a practice quite like this one. The surgery operates on a same-day appointment basis only, which makes it extremely difficult to secure an appointment. The staff can come across as dismissive, offering little explanation beyond stating that this is simply how things are. While the NHS faces funding challenges, I feel this does not fully account for the service issues. I found the team to lack competence and initiative in addressing patient needs.
