A practitioner at this surgery Very rude and inconsiderate in manner. I felt the clinical approach was dismissive and unprofessional. The practitioner suggested my health concerns were not genuine, which I found deeply upsetting. Given the lengthy waiting times to secure appointments at this practice, I would not waste my time attending if my concerns were not legitimate.

Over the past decade, I have struggled to secure an appointment with a GP within a reasonable timeframe, as the waiting period typically exceeds several weeks. By the time an appointment becomes available, I have either recovered naturally or find myself needing to book another slot further down the line, or alternatively resort to emergency services.

Phone consultation ended abruptly without proper discussion

I was deeply disappointed by the care I received at this practice, particularly during a consultation with a clinician I had not previously met. After years of being prescribed medications to manage my long-term physical and mental health conditions, I had a single phone consultation during which I felt abruptly dismissed. I perceived that I was being judged without a proper medical assessment, and my long-standing medications were stopped immediately without any gradual reduction plan or follow-up review. I felt hurt, stigmatised, and that I had not been treated with respect. I had communicated that I was in a vulnerable state and that continuity of care was important for my wellbeing — yet I experienced what felt like a lack of compassion and professionalism. The manner in which I was treated has left me feeling distressed and has negatively impacted my mental health. I believe that stopping long-term medications without proper discussion and review, particularly for a patient in a vulnerable position, falls short of the standards I would expect from healthcare provision and may not align with relevant professional guidelines and patient protection frameworks. I am pursuing formal complaints through the appropriate channels. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and care, particularly those managing complex long-term health conditions.

Same-day appointment made the difference

My husband required an urgent appointment, so he contacted the surgery first thing in the morning and was able to see someone the same day. The clinician we saw was absolutely wonderful—so polite, kind, and patient. They took the time to explain everything clearly, including what had occurred, why it occurred, and the purpose of each medication. In a time when many healthcare professionals rush through appointments, they stood out for being calm and ensuring we fully understood. We're newly registered with this practice, and although I was initially sceptical after reading some negative reviews, I trusted my instincts and had such a positive experience. Truly impressed and grateful—kudos to the team :)

I attempted to escalate my concerns by contacting management via email, but did not receive a response or any attempt to address the issues raised. Turned away for being ten minutes late

I don't typically leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my disappointment on this occasion. I was ten minutes late for my appointment and was not seen by the clinician. I could have accepted this if I had been significantly delayed, but given it was only ten minutes, I feel there should have been some flexibility. Given the current pressures within the NHS, patients already face lengthy waiting times of over a month to secure an appointment. This discourages many from seeking care in the first place, and the lack of empathy from clinical staff only compounds this issue. During a previous visit, I experienced a twenty-minute wait before being seen. Punctuality is rarely maintained at my appointments. It seems inconsistent that clinicians are afforded leniency with their schedules while patients are not. I believe this practice would benefit from reviewing its approach.

Visa forms require multiple visits and delays

If you require documentation forms completed and will need to pay for the service regardless, it may be worth considering private healthcare despite the additional cost. I requested an appointment in early November to discuss the documentation form. Initially, I was offered a telephone consultation where the clinician indicated that a face-to-face visit would be necessary instead, and subsequently arranged one for me. I made clear that I needed the form completed by January 1st, and was assured this would be achievable. During the in-person appointment, the clinician printed off the necessary paperwork. There was some difficulty with the printer that required another staff member to assist, and during this time the clinician began using the scales. The receptionist proved more helpful in resolving the situation than the clinician. I again confirmed that the documentation would be ready by January 1st, and received confirmation that it would be. However, when I attended for my diagnostic scan following a two-hour wait, I was informed that the referral had not been completed correctly and I would need to return to the clinic for the clinician to rectify the paperwork before rescheduling the scan. After completing this and obtaining the necessary test, I requested an appointment to have my documentation signed off confirming the tests had been undertaken. I was told the earliest available slot was the 22nd of January. The reception staff were courteous and made genuine efforts to assist, but the clinical staff were unhelpful throughout the process.

I am satisfied with the care I have received and do not feel dismissed or overlooked. I feel that my concerns are heard and taken seriously. There is a particular member of staff with whom I feel at ease discussing my health matters, and I would be comfortable approaching them or requesting their support if I needed assistance beyond what the clinical team could provide.

I am uncertain about their capacity for same-day urgent cases, but when calling early in the morning, slots appear to be unavailable. I attempted to obtain an urgent appointment across three separate days without success, as availability was consistently reported as full. While I found this frustrating, I cannot determine the underlying reason for this pattern.
