Reception staff made booking unnecessarily difficult

I have to say this is the most disappointing GP surgery I've experienced. The issues span across the entire practice. The reception staff have been particularly problematic. I'll give you an example from when I brought my young child in for an appointment that required them to leave school: Staff member: "you'll need to rebook", Me: "could I rebook for next week?" Staff member: "no, next week includes a bank holiday". Me: "the whole week?", Staff member: "well, not entirely - I can fit you in on Tuesday" Me: "that works for me then". Staff member: "the only slot available is 11am", Me: "that won't work as my child would miss school again - do you have anything later?" Staff member: "fine, 4.30pm then." It's hard to understand their logic. They seem indifferent to the inconvenience caused. The staff come across as dismissive and curt. They've also relocated behind a partition, requiring patients to use a self-service check-in system. If you need to speak with someone directly, it feels like an imposition. On another visit, I used the machine but wasn't seen for 40 minutes - when I finally asked a staff member to come out, they hadn't even registered my arrival. The prescription process has also been frustrating. A clinician indicated a prescription would be ready within 30 minutes. I went to the connected pharmacy, but they confirmed nothing had been sent. I returned home and called back - the receptionist said another 30 minutes. An hour later, it still hadn't arrived. This has happened repeatedly, not just today. This has been a really poor experience overall.

Welcoming staff who actually listen and care

I have to give five stars to this medical practice as I've never come across staff with such a high degree of courtesy and professionalism. They are genuinely welcoming, incredibly supportive and demonstrate real compassion in their approach. The team is absolutely brilliant, though I must say their youthful energy does make me feel rather ancient by comparison!

Extremely frustrating experience when trying to secure an appointment for a young child with a respiratory condition. After spending over an hour attempting to contact the practice, no available slots could be offered for several days. This felt like an inadequate response to the situation.

Receptionists are the worst I have ever some across. Asif you haven't got enough to deal with being sick in the first place. Finally got an appointment and was given a nurse, I walked in the room and before I could even sit down she said "I know what's wrong with you". And 'diagnosed' me on the spot. I didn't agree with this diagnosis and I had to insist on a blood test which she was reluctant to give. Now have the blood tests back and I was right and she was wrong! Really shouldn't have those awful women out front and Mystic Meg out back.

If you are prepared to wait well beyond your scheduled appointment time, this may be the surgery for you. The staff can come across as somewhat abrupt and lacking in warmth. The practice does not operate its own in-house pharmacy. Securing an appointment can prove challenging, even when contacting the surgery promptly at opening time.

Staff didn't listen during phone call

The staff member was quite dismissive and did not seem to pay attention to what I was attempting to communicate. I was simply trying to obtain medication for my child, but the interaction felt rushed and the tone was rather sharp. The call was terminated while I was still speaking.

Phone queue wait was frustrating and unhelpful

I attempted to contact the clinic multiple times between 7:56 and 9:53 without success. When the line became available at 9:54, I was placed on hold for 23 minutes before speaking with someone who informed me there were no available appointments and instructed me to call back the following day. This has been a recurring pattern whenever I try to book an appointment—I am repeatedly told there are no spaces and asked to call again tomorrow, yet when I visit in person, the clinic appears to have few patients present. My son has been experiencing skin concerns since January, with new symptoms continuing to develop and spreading across his body. I believe a blood test may be necessary to determine the cause. The clinic has been unwilling to review images of the condition or discuss whether it might be contagious or pose other concerns. As a parent, I feel frustrated and unsupported by the lack of willingness to assist my child, particularly given the impact this is having on his confidence and school attendance. I am troubled by the apparent reluctance to help and struggle to understand the reasons behind this. I am a working member of the community who contributes through taxes like anyone else. I do not intend to accept this situation without further action. I also found the staff at the adjacent pharmacy to be unhelpful and unwelcoming. I would recommend considering alternative healthcare providers.

Called today to request an appointment regarding what I believed to be a soft tissue injury. I was redirected to an urgent care centre based on a telephone assessment suggesting a potential serious circulatory condition. The clinician at urgent care assessed me and indicated there was minimal risk of this condition, confirming instead a minor soft tissue issue. This redirection resulted in me missing a full day of work, whereas attending the surgery would have allowed me to keep to my schedule. The urgent care appointment itself was brief, lasting around 10 minutes, during which I received advice on managing the injury and was informed of an expected recovery timeframe of approximately 6 weeks.

I'm not surprised by the low ratings here. While most of the staff members have been pleasant, I've had a disappointing experience overall. I feel I haven't received the level of care and support I need. There's been inconsistency in the advice I've been given, and I've been left waiting for extended periods while experiencing discomfort, with little progress despite repeated follow-ups. The feedback I've received about my health has felt dismissive and delivered without much sensitivity. I intend to contact the practice tomorrow to request a consultation with a clinician, as I'm considering switching to another provider that might offer better compassion and assistance with my health concerns.
