Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience, with appointment access emerging as the most significant concern across reviews. Patients consistently report difficulties securing consultations, with many describing lengthy phone queues at 8am, rapid slot depletion, and call disconnections. Reception experience varies markedly, with some patients praising staff courtesy and responsiveness while others describe discourtesy, disengagement, and poor telephone handling. Communication failures appear systemic, including inadequate follow-up on medical matters, delayed prescription processing, and insufficient information sharing about appointment status. Several patients noted positive experiences with specific clinicians who demonstrated compassion and professional expertise, though these instances contrast sharply with broader complaints about care quality and organisation. Waiting times and practice environment issues, including non-functional facilities and outdated systems, feature prominently in negative feedback. A minority of reviews highlight exceptional supportive care and responsive communication, suggesting service quality is inconsistent across different staff members and service areas.

The booking system presents a particular challenge, with patients unable to book appointments in advance and forced to call daily during narrow windows. Some describe this as archaic and frustrating, while a small number report successfully obtaining same-day appointments through morning calls. Prescription management emerges as another recurring problem, with patients experiencing delays and difficulties obtaining necessary medications, occasionally requiring out-of-hours services as alternatives.

Positive feedback, though less frequent, emphasises the value of compassionate individual practitioners and supportive nursing staff. Several long-term patients expressed gratitude for care received during challenging circumstances. However, these positive experiences appear insufficient to offset widespread concerns about appointment availability, reception courtesy, communication responsiveness, and overall service organisation.

Phone System Nightmare at This Practice

Absolutely terrible service! With the exception of maybe one general practitioner, every other aspect rates a single star. Their telephone infrastructure is dysfunctional - if you unknowingly contact them during off-hours, the automated system misleadingly indicates you're "Caller 1" and promises imminent assistance. You can submit a callback request, which then claims someone will contact you momentarily. Attempting to cancel this callback proves futile, as the cancellation button is non-functional. It seems they deliberately direct patients to their preferred pharmacy location, rather than recommending a more convenient alternative for the customer.

Awful GP practice with zero patient care

It's as bad as everyone claims. We're stuck here temporarily due to lack of alternative options. The reception staff are discourteous, the parking arrangement is confusing, and there's no clarity about which doctors are responsible for patient care. The level of ongoing medical support is nonexistent. The most frustrating aspect is the apparent animosity between this medical practice and the neighboring pharmacy, which seems to completely undermine any semblance of professional collaboration.

Knee Injury Wait Nearly Stopped Me Walking

Scheduling an appointment is a real challenge. You wait in line, and when it's finally your turn, everything is already fully booked. The service at the location is okay, but it feels rushed. I reached out via message regarding my knee problem, and after a few weeks, they followed up to check on my condition. By that point, I had been unable to walk for over a week.

Terrible reception turned me away in crisis

I'm currently under the care of this medical practice and just attempted to contact them regarding an urgent health matter. However, the receptionist dismissed my concerns, claiming it wasn't serious enough to address immediately and instructed me to telephone back during regular hours. This response is completely inappropriate. I intend to file a comprehensive formal complaint about this staff member and demand immediate action be taken to address this unacceptable treatment.

Don’t bother trying to see a GP

20 minutes on hold from 8am (because call back is laughable!)20 people in front of me, only to be told telephone appointments only (why when we are only scheduled 10 minutes per appointment) despite informing the reception ‘triage’ that I had a painful lump that needed looking at. I’d like to say that this is out of the ordinary but sadly it’s not, I don’t remember when I last managed to get a face to face, in fact I’m not altogether sure there is a GP is in the surgery full time anymore!

Quick Morning Help with Blood Pressure

I visited the medical clinic this morning without a scheduled appointment, intending to share my blood pressure measurements collected over recent weeks. Initially seeking to hand these to the pharmacist, I discovered they were unavailable. I then requested that a physician on shift review my readings. A general practitioner promptly attended to me, carefully examining my current medication regimen and subsequently adjusting my prescriptions by modifying dosages. I am sincerely appreciative of the doctor's willingness to consult with me during her personal break time. I am optimistic that these medication changes will positively impact my blood pressure readings.

Cancelled at the Last Minute Without Warning

I scheduled an early morning slot at 7:59am and was positioned second in line. Despite being informed the appointment was set for 9-10, I received a cancellation call at 9:50 citing a logistical issue. The audacity of deciding my appointment's value and prioritizing other clients is unacceptable. I had a confirmed booking and was absolutely entitled to my scheduled time. This treatment is completely unacceptable and appalling.

Impossible to Get a Doctor's Appointment

Terrible healthcare service with constant scheduling issues and zero follow-up. They completely ignore patient needs, making it impossible to get medical attention. This level of negligence is dangerous and could potentially lead to serious health consequences when people can't access basic medical care.

Ihilesen at reception saved the day

I'd like to express my heartfelt appreciation for Ihilesen, a delightful receptionist who went above and beyond to assist me. She was incredibly accommodating and addressed all of my questions with utmost patience. Every single time I needed help, she was there. Moreover, the medical staff, including both nurses and doctors, were equally wonderful to me and my loved ones. I've had an entirely positive experience with this general practice and couldn't be more satisfied.

Terrible Care Delayed My Cancer Diagnosis

The appointment scheduling here is utterly ridiculous, and obtaining medication is an incredibly slow process because they seem unwilling to review correspondence from other medical professionals. The sole reason I continue with this practice is their proximity, which matters immensely given my terminal cancer diagnosis and limited mobility. I'm frustrated that they spent an entire year dismissing my significant weight loss as diabetes-related when it was actually cancer-related. I simply want them to provide proper patient care, which is fundamentally their job responsibility. The only saving grace is that the nurses are excellent.

Endless Wait for a Simple 8am Appointment

In the past, scheduling was a breeze, but now it's become a frustrating ordeal. When the appointment lines open at 8am, calling is a test of patience. You're stuck waiting for an hour, inching forward in the queue, only to finally reach reception and discover all slots are gone. This isn't an isolated incident—it's the norm week after week. I've observed numerous unoccupied consultation rooms, with just 2 or 3 doctors on duty. The situation is simply unacceptable. Looks like I'll have to attempt booking again tomorrow and hope for better luck 🤞

Rushed to ER After Dismissive GP Visit

To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my serious concern about the medical treatment my partner received. She was transported via ambulance to the emergency department at Saint Georges Hospital after experiencing severe bleeding. Earlier that same morning, she had visited your GP clinic, where the doctor seemingly neglected to perform a proper examination or check her vital signs, merely prescribing antibiotics. I am deeply troubled by the lack of professional care, especially considering she had given birth just three weeks prior and had experienced significant complications, including extensive stitches and a serious infection in the subsequent week. It is inconceivable that the medical staff did not review her patient history or conduct a thorough assessment of her condition. As a result, she now requires surgical intervention. I firmly believe the standard of care my partner received was completely inadequate and potentially dangerous. I am seeking a comprehensive explanation regarding how a patient in her critical medical state could be so casually dismissed by the GP. I attempted to send this communication via email; however, the contact information provided on your website appears to be non-functional or inactive.

Long Wait for Familiar GP Practice

What's happening with this medical practice? I've been a patient here since relocating to the area over two decades ago, even after they moved to a new building with the same general practitioners. Getting an appointment is an incredibly slow and frustrating process! They seem completely unaware of which clinicians are actually working on any given day. While I understand Covid created significant backlogs, surely by now GPs should have returned to in-person consultations! Wearing a mask isn't complicated! As someone managing a chronic condition, I periodically need to see my GP. Patients deserve access to a doctor familiar with their medical history, preventing the need to repeatedly explain everything. One GP even asks patients what they want to do - we're not medical professionals! I would rate this practice zero stars if that were possible.

Prescription Nightmare Leaves Me in Pain

I'd give zero stars if possible because they're totally ineffective. Every single month, there's an issue obtaining my prescription, forcing me to go without medication for a week and suffer withdrawals and potential health complications. I'm only stuck with this practice because I was compelled to transfer when my son was born. It's utterly absurd. Update: they've rejected my request for co-codamol, which I desperately need for the chronic back pain I've battled since childhood - a condition clearly documented in my medical records. Now I'm facing another weekend without relief, after already waiting all week. No one bothered to inform me about the delay; I had to call and discover this myself, despite being assured the prescription would be ready yesterday. The service is absolutely abysmal.

Prescription Nightmare for My Fragile Relative

I've been a patient at this medical practice for years, witnessing numerous changes, but the recent period has been particularly challenging (even before the pandemic). While I acknowledge the initial difficulties of managing COVID-19's sudden onset and its disruptions, I'm struggling to understand the ongoing problems. Our most significant issues revolve around repeat prescriptions, especially for a vulnerable family member who relies entirely on her medications. This month's experience was especially dire. Despite always maintaining emergency medication supplies to bridge potential delays, she exhausted those reserves and was forced to wait an additional two days. We ultimately had to contact the out-of-hours service just to secure her essential medications. While I'll note that not all staff are problematic—the female receptionists tend to be more empathetic and helpful—the overall service quality leaves much to be desired. Frankly, discussing the other staff members feels futile at this point.
