Patient feedback reflects a mixed experience with significant variation in service quality across different areas. Positive experiences centre on compassionate care, professional medical examination, and responsive communication, with several patients praising the thoroughness of consultations and the courtesy of reception and nursing staff. However, substantial concerns emerge around appointment access, with multiple patients reporting extended waiting periods ranging from weeks to months, difficulties securing direct bookings, and reliance on waiting lists with unclear timeframes. Communication challenges are evident, including unresponsive phone and email systems, and frustration with unavailable online consultation platforms.
Administrative and organisational issues feature prominently in negative feedback, particularly following recent practice mergers. Patients describe problems with continuity of care, lack of named GP allocation, disorganisation in handling prescriptions and test results, and difficulties reaching reception staff. Some patients report disrespectful treatment during consultations, while others highlight the contrast between prompt service when appointments are secured and the struggle to obtain them initially. A subset of reviews acknowledge systemic pressures affecting GP availability and patient volume, though this does not fully address concerns about booking processes and administrative efficiency.
When patients successfully access care, they frequently report satisfaction with clinical quality and staff professionalism. The inconsistency between booking experience and actual care delivery suggests that operational and administrative improvements could significantly enhance overall patient satisfaction.

Bad!
Frustrating wait with no medical help
I'm struggling to secure a medical consultation despite being seriously unwell. When I sought a same-day appointment, the staff informed me a callback would be forthcoming. Upon receiving the call, the receptionist insisted I must first consult a pharmacist before seeing a physician. My specific health concerns are too complex to be adequately addressed by a pharmacist. Consequently, I'm left without an appointment, without triage, and without access to a doctor.

Endless wait for a simple doctors checkup
Scheduling an in-person consultation with my doctor has become nearly impossible, with wait times exceeding a month. The only option presented was a telephone consultation, and I've been placed on an indefinite waiting list for a face-to-face appointment. Upon discussing this issue with the complaints manager, I was informed that this approach is endorsed by the British Medical Association.

Helen from pharmacy saved the day
Having perused other reviews, I want to emphasize that despite my infrequent visits to Redlands, my personal encounters have consistently been positive, much like my previous experiences with Chiddenbrook. On this particular occasion, I'd like to express gratitude to Helen from the pharmacy team for her exceptional service, though I've encountered similar high-quality care from other teams in the past. During the few instances I've required medical attention, appointments have been secured promptly and according to urgency. This might have involved initial phone or email consultations, a necessity driven by the need to strategically allocate appointments in recent years. The harsh reality is that we've been facing a prolonged national shortage of general practitioners that remains unaddressed, while simultaneously experiencing escalating demands on already stretched healthcare resources. There are inherent limitations to the number of patients a single GP can see daily; fewer doctors inevitably result in extended waiting times. This situation must be equally frustrating for Redlands' medical professionals and staff as it is for some patients who have shared their experiences here. Personally, I hold nothing but admiration for Redlands' entire team - doctors, nurses, and support staff alike. They consistently demonstrate praiseworthy levels of care and professionalism, and in my experience, exhibit a genuine commitment to providing the best possible care as expeditiously as they can.

Nurse Sal's compassion made my morning better
During my visit today, Nurse Sal was truly exceptional, embodying the very best of healthcare professionals. She demonstrated remarkable compassion and warmth, showing genuine empathy throughout our interaction. Additionally, she arranged a follow-up consultation with a general practitioner next Tuesday to ensure comprehensive care. Despite the challenging environment within the National Health Service, the quality of treatment I received was outstanding. Patients should appreciate and respect this invaluable healthcare system. My sincere appreciation goes out to the staff.

Poor!
Doctors rotating like a bad carousel
Since the merger and dissolution of the medical partnership, the introduction of Redland NHS facility has been abysmal. It's impossible to consult with the same physician on subsequent visits!! The employed doctors display zero compassion and empathy, essentially not caring at all. Patients are merely reduced to a number, and if you're over 60, you're essentially considered insignificant. From conversations with others, this appears to be the standard approach in NHS primary care centers. It's no surprise that NHS hospitals (which are genuinely outstanding) are frustrated with these healthcare centers.

Waited an hour for nothing
Scheduled a medical consultation, only to find it was a pointless disruption to my workday, with the physician failing to show up and the appointment ultimately being scrapped.

Friendly staff helped me through health concerns
I've consistently received excellent service, and whenever I've had questions about prescriptions, they've responded promptly. While securing appointments can be challenging given the high volume of patients all seeking immediate attention, I've always managed to get a slot when I genuinely require medical care. The entire medical team - from staff to doctors and nurses - has been consistently professional, warm, and compassionate during my visits. I find it difficult to imagine how they could provide better care. I'm truly grateful for their support throughout my healthcare journey.

Waited forever for a simple blood test
Number 12 in line, mid-morning on a weekday - just another standard wait. If it weren't for this essential blood test (which they've known about via mail for ages), I wouldn't even be here. The medical advice quality is so questionable that my previous doctor suggested hormone replacement therapy for a tendon issue - absolutely ridiculous! 🤣

Quick help with urgent prescription
Yesterday, I noticed I was nearly out of a crucial medication that I must take daily. Concerned about potential delays in getting a new prescription, I visited my medical practice, where the reception area was bustling with activity. The receptionist I encountered was incredibly kind and supportive. She consulted with the prescription team, who promptly marked my request as urgent and arranged for me to collect the medication from Boots by day's end, which I successfully did. Heartfelt appreciation goes to the reception staff and all involved in facilitating such an efficient and helpful process.

Chaya made our medical visit smooth today
Despite occasional shortcomings, today's experience at the clinic was outstanding, thanks to Chaya, a skilled practice nurse. The front desk staff also demonstrated remarkable professionalism, earning Redlands a perfect score today.

Quick action saved my life
My longstanding positive experience with this practice was further reinforced by the exceptional care I received at Redlands recently, prompting me to share my story. When I wasn't feeling well last week, I dropped in somewhat uncertainly and described my symptoms. Though I didn't consider my condition serious, the receptionist suggested I should consult a doctor. I was seen promptly within an hour and thoroughly examined by a physician who urgently referred me for hospital tests. When my symptoms worsened the following day, I followed the GP's recommendation and went to the hospital, where they discovered a critical health issue requiring immediate surgical intervention. The compassion and professionalism demonstrated by the receptionist, the GP, and the paramedic were truly remarkable. Like many medical practices, they are navigating challenges of high patient volume and limited staffing, yet consistently strive to provide the best possible patient care. I am deeply grateful to the entire team at Redlands for their dedication and support.

Frustrating wait for a simple nurse appointment
I'm frustrated that I can't secure a nurse's appointment for a fortnight. I attempted to use the online consultation platform, which we're advised to use instead of calling, but it's consistently unavailable due to staffing problems or has reached maximum capacity. I thought this digital method would be more convenient than endlessly waiting on hold or for a return call, and I'm hesitant to book an appointment unless the doctor immediately deems it necessary. Now I comprehend why patients are resorting to emergency department visits - the situation is absurd. Whenever I've been to the clinic, it appears deserted; I've never witnessed it crowded, so I'm completely baffled by these ongoing service challenges.

Waiting list nightmare at merged surgery
The surgical service is absolutely deserving of zero stars. Total exercise in futility!!! As the various surgical practices have combined, everything has devolved into total chaos. I attempted to schedule an appointment and was informed they cannot provide a direct booking but can add me to a waiting list. When I inquired about potentially securing an appointment in September - which wasn't even an urgent request - they declared they cannot commit to any timeframe and have no idea when I might actually get seen!!! I am now stuck on an endless waiting list!!!!!! Prior to these mergers, when it was a charming local practice, we never encountered such ridiculous difficulties.

Endless waiting at this terrible surgery
Oh my goodness, this medical practice has turned into an absolute disaster! It's completely useless - my mother spent over an hour trying to reach a receptionist on Monday and then two hours on Friday, and she's still no closer to getting any help. They should bring back Chiddenbrook surgery, which was a wonderful, efficient place with prompt and helpful service!
