Phone receptionist was dismissive and unhelpful

I have had several interactions with a member of the reception team over the phone and found their manner to be quite abrupt. When I called seeking guidance, I felt they were dismissive and unhelpful in their approach. This morning I rang to follow up on a repeat prescription request, and they responded by pointing out that I had only submitted it that same morning. I clarified that I was aware of this and was simply checking on its status, as I was uncertain whether I would receive notification once it became available. Due to their tone during the conversation, I chose to end the call, and this has not been an isolated experience for me.

Quick results and attentive listening throughout

I'm very impressed with every aspect of my experience this week. The clinician I saw has listened, acted and responded amazingly quickly both in-person and online. The phlebotomist who took my blood samples was brilliant - it was the easiest blood extraction I've ever experienced with results sent to me the same day. The administrative team have obviously expedited the blood work, results posting and referrals with super-efficiency. Thank you all.

I've been attending this practice for nearly five years and have consistently had excellent experiences. Appointments have never been difficult to obtain, and I've frequently been able to see someone or receive a consultation on the same day. The clinicians demonstrate thoroughness in their approach and ensure they carefully consider everything you mention, while the clinical support staff are pleasant, prompt and well-organised. I attended recently for a blood test and the phlebotomist was outstanding—the procedure was so smooth that I barely noticed it, which is particularly significant given my usual anxiety around blood tests. I would strongly encourage others to use this surgery. My overall health has improved substantially since becoming a patient here.

Unfriendly receptionists made everything worse

I have attended three GP practices previously, and this one has been the most disappointing by comparison. A number of the reception staff members have displayed an unfriendly demeanor that I found quite striking. They appeared visibly annoyed from the outset of interactions. Both my partner and I were informed that our test results would arrive within several days, yet an extended period elapsed without any communication. We needed to follow up on multiple occasions before eventually receiving the results, which indicated that medical intervention was required. Subsequently, a healthcare professional indicated that further assistance could not be provided at the practice and suggested we pursue private healthcare options instead. The overall experience has been quite frustrating. We have commenced the transition to registering with a different GP practice.
