Appointment availability emerges as the dominant concern across feedback, with patients reporting severe difficulty securing consultations through phone booking systems that operate on restricted windows and consistently show no availability. Waiting experiences are frequently cited as problematic, encompassing both extended phone queue times before reaching reception and lengthy waits in practice facilities once appointments are obtained. Communication failures appear systemic, ranging from unresponsive phone lines and dropped calls to delayed prescription processing and administrative delays affecting patient care continuity.
Reception experience presents a mixed picture. While some patients praise courteous and helpful staff, others report dismissive, disrespectful, or condescending conduct that compounds frustration with access difficulties. Several reviews highlight issues with booking system dysfunction, including online platforms that are difficult to navigate and callback systems that fail to function as promised. Prescription service efficiency varies considerably, with some patients experiencing prompt processing while others report repeated delays and forgotten requests.
Positive feedback acknowledges exceptional clinical care from healthcare professionals, compassionate treatment during consultations, and a welcoming environment when patients do gain access. However, these strengths are substantially overshadowed by systemic access and communication challenges that leave many patients unable to obtain timely appointments or reach the practice by phone, creating significant barriers to receiving care.

Bad!
Terrible service and communication from medical staff
Over the last twelve months, I've experienced fragmented medication refills, poor interdepartmental and physician communication, unaddressed urgent requests, and consistent difficulty reaching anyone by phone after mid-afternoon. The quality of service is rapidly deteriorating.

Worst customer service experience ever at this place
The front desk staff during the morning shift are absolutely the most discourteous individuals I've ever encountered. They demonstrate absolutely no ability to communicate effectively or interact professionally. It's abundantly clear they are completely unsuited for a customer-facing role.

Shocking medical centre fails patient with heart medication
Absolute worst medical facility I've encountered. Endured 11 days of waiting for crucial medication, with 5 days of complete radio silence as no one bothered to check emails. When I personally visited the surgery to inquire about my prescription, I was handed a barcode - which turned out to be already used, forcing me to wait yet another day. The receptionist claimed a doctor would issue a new barcode and call me to collect it later today, but predictably, that call never materialized. The service is appallingly unprofessional. Staff are completely detached, existing in their own self-absorbed world and showing zero concern for patient needs. I fully intend to escalate this complaint to the practice manager and pursue every possible avenue of recourse. The fact that heart medication has been neglected for 11 days is unacceptable and potentially dangerous. Their complete disregard for patient health is nothing short of disgraceful.

Exceptional medical care with warmth and compassion
An absolutely exceptional healthcare facility! Consistently incredibly welcoming and wonderfully helpful!! Transferred to this clinic 2.5 years back and they have been outstanding, completely different from our prior medical practice in Outwood. Sincere gratitude indeed!!!

Great service from a caring healthcare professional
I met with Bernie for a medication consultation, and she was incredibly personable, professional, and supportive. I shared my concerns about a medication that was causing unwanted side effects and inquired about an alternative prescription. Bernie consulted with a general practitioner and followed up with me the following day, confirming that my repeat prescription was in order and that another prescription was ready for pickup.

Terrible service and impossible doctor appointments
The reception personnel display a shocking lack of professionalism. Securing an in-person medical consultation seems virtually unattainable. It's entirely predictable that the emergency department is completely overwhelmed. Urgent intervention is required to address the systemic issues plaguing this healthcare facility.

Terrible service and unhelpful medical staff nightmare
The sole reason for my one-star rating is the requirement to provide feedback. The staff's unprofessional attitude has been frustrating, as I've spent two days attempting to secure an appointment for my daughter. Despite following all their instructions, I'm still without a scheduled visit. This isn't a new issue for us; we've been patients at this practice for a few months now, and not a single appointment has been successfully arranged. I've escalated my concerns to the Integrated Care Board (ICB) due to this ongoing problem.

Patches made my healthcare experience smooth and simple
I wholeheartedly endorse this medical procedure and find myself puzzled by the abundance of critical feedback. The implementation of PATCHES has significantly streamlined communication with healthcare professionals, making it simpler to connect with a General Practitioner, Nurse, or Prescriber. Patients are prioritized based on the urgency of their medical condition, with GP care Wakefield appointments always available. The entire staff demonstrates exceptional helpfulness, kindness, and empathy. I cannot speak highly enough of their service.

Terrible receptionist makes medical visit a nightmare
The elderly female receptionist displays an appalling attitude, particularly when encountering individuals with unique accents or surnames. Her demeanor is consistently dismissive, actively avoiding problem resolution. She audibly shares personal interpretations of medical scan results with everyone in the waiting area, broadcasting potentially inaccurate and harmful information that contradicts actual health findings, while simultaneously engaging in discriminatory behavior that humiliates patients. During phone interactions, this same receptionist assumes an unwarranted authoritative role, interrogating patients with invasive personal questions even when patients prefer discussing such matters exclusively with their physician. Her approach makes patients feel utterly degraded, as though she were a medical professional rather than a front desk employee. If she cannot perform her duties professionally and continues to mistreat patients, she should be terminated from her position.

Terrible phones but decent care in person
I'm uncertain about the current state of this medical practice. While the phone system remains terrible and securing an appointment is incredibly challenging, my in-person interactions have actually been surprisingly pleasant, which has prompted me to raise my rating from 1 to 3 stars. I'm keeping my previous review for its humor: Based on my experience, I recommend seeking out any alternative surgery. Even a dubious-looking practitioner with a toy stethoscope would likely provide superior overall service. The crows seem to gather outside each morning, almost waiting to prey on the sick and elderly who are desperately struggling just to communicate with a healthcare provider. The current operational system at this surgery is fundamentally broken and clearly does not prioritize patient needs. Anyone with professional commitments will find themselves completely disadvantaged.

Terrible service leaves patient frustrated and suffering
The service is utterly useless. I began attempting to call at 7:59 AM, but the phone line remained unresponsive until 8:15 AM. During this period, I made 33 unsuccessful call attempts. When I finally connected at 8:30 AM, I was abruptly informed that no appointments were available, with no further assistance offered except to retry at 1:30 PM. I'm currently suffering from pain caused by an incorrectly prescribed medication, which is believed to have damaged my stomach lining. Despite being a long-standing patient with this practice for a decade, I've learned to avoid seeking medical help because this is consistently the substandard level of service I encounter. I'm left questioning the value of my NHS contributions.

Frustrating wait but doctor harrison saved day
Attempted to schedule a consultation early today, called at 8:00 AM, received a message about being 12th in line. By 8:11, I was informed all slots were taken and directed to Pontefract Drop In Centre. Fortunately, Dr. Harrison was exceptional, promptly messaging RIVERSIDE regarding my need for an MRI scan. When I followed up to check on the scan's arrangement, I was told I must first consult a physician. I requested an appointment but was advised to call back in the morning. Since I couldn't secure a slot for today and had to use the drop-in service, I sought a specific appointment time but was unsuccessful. I'll likely return to Pontefract in the future.

Terrible service and impossible to reach a doctor
This surgery in Yorkshire is unquestionably the absolute pits. I've been calling from 8am to 1:30pm daily for a fortnight, consistently being told no doctor is available to speak with me. How can this even be acceptable?! When I physically went to the surgery, I discovered staff sitting right at the reception desk, simply letting the phone ring unanswered!!! After working hard and contributing to the system my entire life, I should surely be entitled to at least one consultation. This place is completely ridiculous and an utter embarrassment to healthcare services.

Horrible customer service that wasted my time
Wasted nearly half an hour on hold trying to get a tablet support call resolved. Ended up being fourth in line and got absolutely nowhere. The background music was unbearably irritating - they might as well close up shop and use their resources for something productive like housing development.

Compassionate care from a dedicated medical team
I've encountered a range of experiences at this medical practice, but following my latest consultations with the staff, I'm now assured that I selected the right clinic. I've interacted with two different healthcare professionals who have consistently demonstrated courtesy, kindness, and professionalism. Considering the immense pressure they face with a constant stream of patients presenting diverse health conditions, it's commendable that they maintain such empathy and provide excellent care. I've been genuinely well-treated during my visits here.

Terrible healthcare leaving patients feeling abandoned and unheard
After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I was simply handed insulin and left to manage on my own. My medical consultations are infrequent, and when I do see someone about my persistent pain, they completely disregard my concerns. One physician even had the audacity to ask me what I wanted to do about my pain - isn't that their professional responsibility? The nurses promised to contact me weekly to check my blood work, but I haven't heard from them in three weeks. Getting an appointment is a challenge in itself. When I tried to schedule a visit for my 4-year-old who's suffering from recurring ear infections, I was told no slots were available. They claimed they would note this down, but how could they possibly do that when they didn't even bother to take her name? The entire healthcare experience has been nothing short of utterly incompetent and frustrating.
