The reception team's approach left me feeling frustrated and upset. I found the interactions during my contact with the practice to be dismissive, and I felt that calls were ended abruptly without proper resolution. I believe the management should be aware of these concerns, as the quality of patient interactions may impact how people view the practice. Following a subsequent call to the practice, I experienced similar difficulties with the reception staff. I found them unhelpful and unwelcoming during our conversation. It seemed to me that the role may not be a good fit, and I would encourage the practice to consider whether staff are suited to patient-facing positions.

When I reached out to the practice, the earliest available appointment was over a week away, and I was advised to obtain remedies from the pharmacy without a prescription. This was further confirmed during a telephone conversation, with notification that my location will not be included in their coverage going forward. However, upon reviewing the practice website, my address appears to be situated within the stated catchment boundaries, and the practice is listed as accepting new patients from my area. Notably, none of my neighbouring residents have received similar correspondence, and I have not received any explanatory communication from the practice regarding this matter.

Phone queues rarely longer than five callers

I feel very fortunate to be registered at this practice. In fact, I've had to stop recommending it to others because they tend to be sceptical of how positive my feedback is!! We're all familiar with discussions about declining standards in general practice. Through my involvement in such conversations, I've found that this practice appears to be virtually unique in still offering all the services that people elsewhere commonly say have disappeared. When I compare it objectively with the general practices that serve other members of my family, including an elderly relative, this surgery stands significantly ahead. When you call at the start of the working day, you rarely encounter a queue of more than a handful of callers and typically get through in under ten minutes. If you need to see or speak to a clinician on the same day, you almost always can. The reception team are consistently pleasant and professional. They're appropriately firm when necessary but never discourteous or hostile in my experience. The clinical staff are excellent. I regularly see several practitioners, all of whom are highly knowledgeable, clinically competent, sensible, and willing to seek advice from colleagues when uncertain. They're all approachable and easy to interact with. The nursing team provides an invaluable service that enables the practice to deliver outstanding preventative health programmes, maintain efficient vaccination schedules and keep on top of regular monitoring. I'm particularly grateful for the practice's routine monitoring programme which identified a serious condition in 2022 at a critical point. The technology systems are current and function effectively, with particular strengths in prescription management and access to personal health records. I'm able to interact very smoothly with the practice through the NHS app interface. In summary, I can thoroughly recommend this practice across all aspects of its service.

Surgery cancelled appointment without medication supply

My husband was diagnosed with a condition requiring an injection every three months and had an appointment scheduled. An hour before the appointment, he was contacted and told that the surgery's medication supply had not arrived, so the appointment was cancelled. He was advised he would be contacted once supplies became available. This medication is important for his health management, and he had been informed at diagnosis that timely administration was necessary. He called the surgery the next day, but the medication still had not arrived. He was told again that he would be contacted when it became available, though no timeframe was provided. His hospital consultant was able to supply the medication and suggested he contact the surgery to have it administered. The earliest available appointment was Monday, which he accepted. After collecting the medication from the hospital, he visited the surgery on the chance that someone might be able to help and reduce his worry. Upon checking the system, he was informed that the nurse was unfortunately no longer available. It was 3:38 pm when he checked the time after leaving the surgery. We have been registered with this practice for many years, and while I understand that policies and procedures were likely followed, I wonder where the care and compassion in healthcare has gone.
