Felt unheard and dismissed when seeking help

I had a disappointing experience during my appointment. I felt that the healthcare professional I saw lacked compassion and understanding of my situation. When I was seeking support, I felt dismissed rather than helped, which was deeply upsetting. The lack of empathy shown made an already difficult time feel even worse. I struggled to understand how someone in a caring profession could respond in such an uncaring manner.

Quick appointment booking and responsive care

I'm a new patient who booked an appointment through the reception desk for the first time. I received a call from a clinician within an hour and was seen face-to-face the following day. The clinician demonstrated professionalism and diagnostic accuracy, reviewing and correcting a previous diagnosis and prescription that I had been given. An appointment was arranged with a specialist nurse for my condition management. The nurse showed considerable patience, conducted a thorough assessment, and provided me with updated equipment. A significant decision was made to adjust my medication, and I found the nurse to be highly knowledgeable and skilled. The clinician also provided me with a medical certificate, which I've been able to use at work and other institutions. The certificate was issued with clear care and responsibility, and I'm grateful for this as the lack of one previously caused me considerable difficulty. I'm very appreciative of the care I received.

I attended an appointment to discuss adjusting my medication as it wasn't providing the relief I needed. The clinician appeared disengaged throughout the consultation. Additionally, I was unable to have blood work completed due to missing records.

The appointment was extremely disappointing and upsetting. The clinician was abrupt and uncommunicative throughout the consultation, which left me questioning their suitability for the role. The overall experience was distressing and had a negative impact on my family member's wellbeing.

Since the staffing challenges began, the practice has experienced a noticeable decline. Obtaining an appointment has become extremely difficult, with lengthy waits that feel interminable. Callback requests frequently go unanswered. This frustration stems from what appears to be the impact of reduced funding on service delivery.
