Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals significant challenges with appointment access and booking systems, which emerge as the practice's most persistent issue. Patients report difficulty securing timely consultations through both phone and online channels, with extended waiting times and limited availability frequently cited. Reception experience is notably inconsistent, with some staff described as helpful and responsive while others are characterised as discourteous and unhelpful, creating an uneven service experience across interactions.

Communication failures appear throughout the feedback, including missed follow-ups, delayed prescription processing, and inadequate information provision during initial contact. Several patients describe feeling dismissed or not listened to during consultations, with concerns about care quality and professional competence raised across multiple reviews. A smaller number of positive experiences highlight responsive staff, compassionate care, and efficient service, though these remain outweighed by accounts of organisational dysfunction and staff inconsistency.

The practice's systems for managing appointments, prescriptions, and patient communication require substantial improvement to address the widespread frustration evident in feedback. While some individual staff members receive praise for their support and professionalism, systemic issues with access, organisation, and responsiveness appear to be the primary drivers of patient dissatisfaction.

Great!

Friendly midwife clinic with efficient service

Regarding the medical facility, I haven't experienced their primary services, but I've visited several times for the community midwife appointments. Each time, the clinic has been efficiently managed and punctual. The front desk personnel are consistently friendly and accommodating.

Excellent!

Exceptional healthcare with compassionate and prompt service

I've been thoroughly impressed with this medical practice lately. When I couldn't secure an immediate appointment, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a follow-up call the next day with an available time slot. The doctor during my consultation was incredibly attentive, carefully listening to my concerns and thoroughly discussing potential treatment approaches. I genuinely felt understood and well-supported throughout the entire interaction. Just earlier today, I submitted an online request for a test for my daughter, and within just thirty minutes, I received confirmation that the required documentation was prepared and ready for collection at the reception desk. A heartfelt thank you for the exceptional service! The efficiency and responsiveness are truly remarkable and deeply appreciated.

Incompetent doctors failing diabetic patients miserably

I'm utterly frustrated with this medical practice and their incompetent personnel. As a diabetic patient, I'm constantly forced to visit the emergency department for basic treatments like antibiotics because securing a timely appointment is nearly impossible. Their electronic consultation service is completely useless. Despite their promises on the website and during phone calls to respond within the next working day, I've been waiting over a week with zero communication. I've permanently stopped attending their diabetic consultations after a deeply concerning incident where the diabetes nurse didn't even recognize my insulin pump. I was absolutely stunned by their profound lack of professional knowledge. When I reported this to my hospital team, they were equally horrified and advised me to discontinue treatment here, even sending a formal letter confirming my withdrawal - which I'm certain they've likely misplaced, just like every other external document. This medical practice is an absolute embarrassment. I strongly recommend patients seek alternative healthcare providers who might actually demonstrate some genuine concern for patient wellbeing.

Incompetent doctors fail to provide necessary medical support

I encountered an absolutely terrible experience with this general practitioner. Living with chronic back issues since childhood, my condition has progressively deteriorated with age. There are moments when the pain is so intense that I can't even get into bed, I'm unable to walk and must take the bus, and my work sometimes requires lifting heavy items. I urgently needed a medical certification documenting my back problems and work limitations. However, a doctor at the practice arbitrarily decided against providing this essential document, despite two of my colleagues already having received similar letters. All this occurs in a context where we consistently pay our medical fees, yet receive nothing in return except sheer neglect. What we experience is a deplorable display of carelessness, indifference, incompetence, and professional irresponsibility! These supposed healthcare professionals, who should be dedicated to healing, seem more intent on causing further harm. Their approach is nothing short of disgraceful, leaving me profoundly disillusioned and frustrated…

Poor!

Frustrated patient after ten years of declining service

I've been a patient at this practice for nearly ten years, and I must candidly admit that the service quality has dramatically declined. While Zoe at reception remains exceptional and consistently helpful, other staff members appear indifferent. Phone wait times average around 30 minutes, and the experience is so frustrating that I'd rather physically visit the clinic than endure the call. The constant turnover of doctors has significantly disrupted service continuity, though I'm grateful Dr Lefevre remains a constant. Nursing standards have also sharply deteriorated - during my last interaction, I actually had to demonstrate to a nurse the correct technique for medication fluid extraction and injection. Finding competent personnel for basic medical tasks has become increasingly challenging. I recognize these issues are exacerbated by NHS funding constraints, and I'm aware that providing feedback feels futile. Currently, I've been waiting 56 minutes just to reach reception, which is completely unacceptable. The overall lack of professional care is deeply disheartening. I'd prefer to use an e-consult, but the system has been redesigned, preventing effective communication. The Accrux platform is equally unhelpful, repeatedly telling me I'm "outside core hours" despite attempting contact since morning. I've now been waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes. Unbelievable.

Unprofessional doctor dismisses patient's health concerns

I just had a consultation with a physician, and her demeanor was incredibly unprofessional. Within the first minute of our interaction, she was already dismissing the need for a blood test before I could even describe my health concerns. When I tried to explain that I regularly undergo check-ups due to my history of nutrient deficiencies, she abruptly responded, "Your previous year's blood work did not indicate anemia..." Seeking medical advice by phone when in-person appointments are unavailable proved futile, as no genuine attempt was made to understand my symptoms. The entire conversation was a mere two minutes long, and I ultimately had to end the call because her approach was causing me significant emotional distress.

Terrible service and unhelpful medical staff

I was seeking an immediate medical consultation. When I phoned around 1 PM requesting assistance, they had no availability and instructed me to call back on Monday. I then contacted 111, who surprisingly managed to secure an appointment with the practice on the same day!!! The doctor attempted to call me, and although I answered, there was no sound. I promptly tried calling the practice back to connect with the physician. The receptionist was extremely unhelpful and dismissive, refusing to hear my concerns. She claimed she would ask the doctor to contact me, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENED. This treatment is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Frustrating healthcare experience with endless waiting

I wasted nearly an hour waiting on hold, attempting to schedule a blood test consultation with a nurse. After all that time, I was informed that a general practitioner must first approve the request, and phone bookings aren't even permitted—instead, I'm directed to use their "eConsults" digital form. Upon completing the online submission, I received a response indicating they won't review my case for another five days. Is this really how healthcare operates nowadays?!

Holly at reception is the sole bright spot. The entire staff seems incompetent. The physicians display a complete lack of compassion. During my visit, I prepared notes to help me communicate due to my memory challenges, but the doctor dismissively claimed there wasn't sufficient time in our brief 10-minute slot. Ultimately, no meaningful assistance was provided. Absolutely nothing. Despite these issues, Dr. Lefeuvre stands out as an exceptional medical professional, though scheduling an appointment with him proves challenging.

Worst medical practice ever avoid at all costs

I'm forced to award a single star, though I'd prefer none. Despite being a patient here for 24 months, scheduling an appointment is utterly absurd. Each time I call, I'm condemned to endless waiting, only to be dismissively told to consult a pharmacist instead of receiving actual medical attention.

Terrible nurse treated me like garbage today

I was left devastated by Nurse Selina Latis this morning after being deceived and verbally mistreated, with the door dramatically shut in my face. Upon arrival, I apologized for being slightly late, explaining I had difficulty locating the clinic due to my Sat Nav directing me incorrectly. The receptionist instructed me to wait, which I did. After 40 minutes, I inquired with the consultant about my appointment status. She mockingly laughed and declared I would not be seen because of my lateness. I emphasized that I had been waiting for over 40 minutes and had traveled for an hour and twenty minutes, but she insisted I wasn't present at 5 and 10 minutes past the hour - a claim I knew to be completely false. When I requested her to verify with reception, she aggressively refused, arguing and ultimately slamming the door, leaving me in floods of tears in the reception area. Upon contacting my doctors to lodge a complaint, I discovered she had maliciously documented in my medical records that I was both rude and 40 minutes late - both statements being absolute fabrications. I am profoundly disturbed that a healthcare professional could behave so unprofessionally and dishonestly. While the receptionist was kind and sincerely apologetic, the nurse's conduct was utterly unacceptable and deeply distressing.

Worst medical care ever experienced at burrage surgery

I reluctantly award this medical practice a single star, wishing I could rate it even lower. Having been a patient at Burrage surgery for more than two decades, predating their current premises, I am deeply disappointed by their deteriorating standards. Following a recent hospital consultation, the surgery contacted me emphasizing the need for an urgent appointment, either in-person or via telephone. Upon calling immediately, I was informed that the earliest available slot was four weeks away. This approach is completely unacceptable and potentially dangerous. They are recklessly compromising patient health, and I strongly advise anyone to seek medical care elsewhere.
