Reception struggled to locate urgent medication discharge

I have been trying to get assistance for three days. The email service that was offered provided only standard responses and I was unable to locate an urgent medication discharge document. The paperwork appeared to be delayed in processing after I made a direct call to the hospital, and it took another call from reception the following day to progress matters further. A district nurse attempted to assist as she had access to information from the same system as the hospital, but I was subsequently informed that orders need to be placed several days in advance. This seems problematic, particularly given that incorrect medication was initially prescribed, which I fortunately identified before taking it.

Receptionists went above and beyond helping

I live out of area but have been attempting to resolve a matter as a relative of one of the patients. I must commend all the reception staff I have encountered, as they have been wonderful and genuinely supportive rather than dismissing my enquiries. Today I experienced a lengthy wait on the phone, which was naturally frustrating, however the staff member I spoke with provided exceptional assistance. She truly went the extra mile, listened carefully to my concerns and ensured she fully grasped the situation. What we are trying to address is not straightforward as it involves documentation connected to local council matters, so as you can imagine it becomes quite complicated. The staff member provided me with contact details and information about other services that could potentially assist. She also submitted a request to the clinical team, though she was transparent that she couldn't guarantee they would be able to help given the complexity of the situation. Despite this uncertainty, she proceeded with the request and has taken all necessary details, promising to update us once there is a response. She was transparent about timescales, explaining that whilst this is important to us, the clinical team manages other priorities, which I completely understand. I genuinely believe this represents outstanding reception work and I wish all staff in my local area demonstrated this level of care! The other staff member I spoke with previously has also been tremendously helpful, working through all available options with me, which I genuinely appreciate. They made a genuine effort to assist rather than simply trying to end the call. Thank you for providing a professional, warm, friendly and knowledgeable service 👍

Friendly staff made me feel at ease

I called this morning to request a same-day appointment, and the receptionist was delightful. I had initially asked to see a female clinician, but only male practitioners were available that day, which was acceptable. The GP I saw was wonderful, very supportive and thoughtful. There was also another female clinician present during the consultation who was equally helpful. I felt comfortable and reassured with both practitioners. The entire team consistently demonstrates friendliness and a genuine willingness to assist.

The clinician demonstrated professionalism and exceptional ability in patient assessment and interpersonal skills. I am satisfied with the overall service provided at the practice; the reception team consistently demonstrated helpfulness and competence in their role, which added to the positive experience. The service met expectations throughout, and a follow-up appointment for blood tests arranged shortly afterwards proceeded without any complications.

Pharmacist took time to explain test results

Had my yearly review with a member of the pharmacy team. They were excellent, providing a thorough explanation of my recent test results, and arranged for me to have additional tests. Following our initial conversation, they consulted with the GP and called me back to share their feedback. A pleasant, approachable and well-organised professional who is a real asset to the practice.

Couldn't get an appointment that suited work

Completely inadequate. There appears to be a lack of coordination between different parts of the service. Additionally, obtaining an appointment is extremely difficult if you have work commitments. Deeply disappointing.

Reception refused to listen to call recording

Absolutely shocking. I have been experiencing significant pain for an extended period. Finally secured an appointment for injections to both joints, yet the booking only covers one. The practice refuses to review the call recording where I clearly stated both joints required treatment and this was acknowledged. The reception staff member provided what I felt was extremely poor customer service.

Unable to secure an appointment on the day needed despite multiple attempts over a couple of days. The availability of appointments appears extremely limited, making it challenging to access clinical staff. Due to these difficulties, I have decided to pursue private healthcare instead.
