Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a practice with significant operational challenges that overshadow positive clinical care. Patients consistently report severe difficulties with appointment access, with lengthy phone wait times, unresponsive booking systems, and inaccurate published hours creating substantial barriers to care. Communication failures are widespread, including delayed test result notifications, prescription errors, and poor responsiveness to patient needs. Reception experience emerges as a major concern, with multiple reports of discourteous staff, unprofessional conduct, and dismissive attitudes toward patients seeking assistance.

Despite these systemic issues, the clinical care itself receives consistent praise. Patients highlight the quality of medical professionals, nursing staff, and occupational therapy services, describing physicians and nurses as compassionate, skilled, and genuinely attentive to health concerns. Several reviews note that once patients access appointments, the actual medical care is outstanding.

The practice appears to operate under significant capacity constraints, with staff overwhelmed and unable to manage current patient demand effectively. This disconnect between strong clinical delivery and poor administrative function creates a frustrating experience where patients struggle to access the quality care that is available. Improvements to booking systems, phone infrastructure, reception training, and communication protocols would be essential to align service delivery with the standard of clinical care being provided.

Bad!

Worst medical practice ever terrible service

Completely worthless service, with front desk personnel displaying an attitude of superiority and indifference, and most employees appearing to have minimal commitment. Telephone communication is impossible, and in-person booking involves painfully slow processes where you're inevitably scheduled weeks in advance. The only way to secure a same-day slot is through a competitive phone booking system where appointments vanish quickly. I'm definitively transferring to a healthcare practice that demonstrates actual professionalism!

Compassionate doctor who truly cares about patients

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. C. Pocket for his exceptional care over the past few months. Whenever I've had worries or medical concerns, he has consistently been available and attentive. His compassionate approach and genuine kindness have completely reassured me about my health. He is not only an outstanding physician but also a vibrant and engaging individual whom I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking a truly remarkable healthcare professional.

Dangerous doctors failed me completely

I'm utterly disgusted by the abysmal treatment I've received from the current medical staff over the past half-year. Not a single one of them exhibits genuine concern or maintains even a basic standard of professional conduct. Their negligence led to my hospitalization, and now I'm experiencing identical symptoms while being dismissed as if I'm mentally unsound. I was absolutely justified in questioning the medications they were prescribing. For them to demand my blind trust after the traumatic hospital experience is completely unacceptable. Their approach reminds me of notorious and unethical doctors who have brought shame to the medical profession.

Frustrating healthcare with glimpses of compassionate care

The front desk staff are pleasant, but the administrative setup is deeply flawed. While some impressively skilled young physicians work there, it seems they may not be long-term staff. Recently, my 80-year-old father had a telehealth consultation at 9:40 PM, experiencing significant pain and blood in his urine. The doctor called back at 1:10 PM and requested a urine sample to check for infection. I attempted to deliver the sample to the clinic, but it was shut for staff training. I dropped off the sample early the following morning but received no communication all day. By evening, his condition had deteriorated so severely that I was compelled to call emergency services.

Brereton surgery saves the day with compassion

After switching to Brereton surgery, I'm truly grateful. The staff demonstrate compassion and understanding towards your medical concerns, actively working to address them promptly. Unlike Sandy Lane, which requires strict appointments, Brereton surgery welcomes walk-ins and allows patients to explain issues like medication cancellations, which happened to me without any explanation. The staff at Sandy Lane include some rude individuals, overshadowing the few good employees remaining. Changing surgeries was definitely the best decision I made. I'm deeply saddened by their lack of empathy, especially during my parents' loss, with certain receptionists displaying a complete absence of compassion. One receptionist in particular is exceptionally discourteous and disrespectful. If possible, I would rate them zero. My strong advice is to seek another medical practice. Dr. Staite would be horrified by the current state of affairs - the approach is uncaring, dishonest, and unprofessional. All patients deserve basic kindness and respect. It's tragic that Dr. Staite and Dr. Hoosen have departed, as the surgery's quality has significantly deteriorated. What a shame to see the decline of what was once a good medical practice.

Terrible service and zero patient care at this clinic

Quite possibly among the most subpar medical practices nationwide, it's practically impossible to connect via telephone. Even if you manage to get through, consultations are exclusively conducted over the phone, as they persistently avoid in-person appointments. Essentially, they're collecting payment while providing minimal effort, demonstrating a complete lack of compassion and patient care.

Frustrating service that wastes my precious time

Extremely Disappointing. Booking an appointment is nearly impossible without repeatedly dialing and enduring lengthy hold times. Their customer service is subpar. They seem to have forgotten the fundamental principle that they exist to serve their customers, not the other way around.

Terrible service and zero patient care at sandy lane

The service was absolutely appalling. I attempted to book an appointment since early morning, finally getting through at 8:50am, only to be told they weren't busy but had no available slots. They dismissively suggested I contact 111, which then sent a referral to Sandy Lane mandating an appointment. Despite this, my request was completely disregarded. 111 specified I needed medical attention within 12 hours, yet Sandy Lane has entirely ignored this urgent directive. The telephone staff were unprofessional and seem entirely unqualified. Why are they blocking appointments that healthcare professionals have deemed critical? Sandy Lane is fundamentally failing in its responsibilities as a medical practice. As a taxpaying citizen, I find it outrageous that administrative staff with zero medical training can arbitrarily deny essential NHS healthcare. I am being systematically denied vital medical care, and I will pursue this complaint to its fullest extent. Their constant attempt to redirect patients to emergency services when unnecessary is both dangerous and irresponsible. I am seriously considering legal action for negligence and blatant disregard for a patient's medical needs. Their behavior is completely unacceptable and potentially harmful. Why do they consistently ignore patients' legitimate healthcare requirements?

Terrible healthcare leaves patient in unbearable pain

A complete mockery, typical of every general practitioner's office. My wife has been suffering from excruciating back pain for a week, yet she can't even secure a simple phone consultation to obtain stronger medication. She's forced to wait another three days for a doctor's call. Unable to drive due to the pain, unable to walk due to the pain, how on earth is she supposed to reach the hospital as they suggested? Are they seriously recommending she call an ambulance and potentially endanger others by misusing emergency services as a personal taxi to transport her to the hospital? Apparently, a mere three-minute phone conversation is too much to ask in the year 2022.

Terrible service and unprofessional medical care nightmare

This medical practice is absolutely absurd, selectively treating patients. I've been waiting for referrals for myself and my child since last year, and it turns out the GP didn't even send the referral to the correct specialist. Stay away from this clinic at all costs. When I tried to book a routine appointment, I was told none were available. However, after calling 111, I discovered they actually had three appointments this week but refused to provide me with one at Sandy Lane surgery. There's a receptionist who desperately needs customer service training - she's consistently rude, unhelpful, and incredibly unpleasant. Her attitude is completely inappropriate for a role that requires interacting with patients, and she clearly shouldn't be working in a position that involves dealing with people.

Negligent doctor nearly cost me my eye's sight

My optician urgently recommended I consult my doctor after a routine eye examination. When I saw my GP, she assured me she would promptly schedule an appointment with an eye surgeon.....BUT SHE COMPLETELY FAILED TO FOLLOW THROUGH! Four months passed before a tumor was surgically extracted from my left eye. Although I was sent a letter of apology, I have since transferred to a different medical practice.

Prescription nightmare that left me boiling mad

I'm completely in sync with Rachael's perspective! Over recent months, I've experienced a series of prescription-related headaches, which is especially frustrating when dealing with medications that can cause serious health risks if discontinued. I submit my prescription on time, only to discover upon collection that they claim to have received nothing. When I return to the medical office, they insist the prescription has been printed and is available. In this latest incident, the receptionist promised to place it in a bag for same-day delivery, but predictably, it never arrived. My frustration reached a boiling point when I called again the next day to collect it personally. What infuriated me most was learning the prescription had actually been signed and completed the day following my initial inquiry!!! Their inability to simply be honest and offer a straightforward apology is mind-boggling. I understand they're busy, but this kind of treatment of patients is absolutely unacceptable and completely disrespectful!!

Worst medical practice ever experienced in birmingham

After relocating to the area, it took an exasperating 4 months and multiple complaints before they finally processed my family's registration forms. The phone service is equally frustrating, with wait times exceeding 30 minutes and calls frequently being abruptly terminated. When our newborn son was unwell and needed medical attention, the receptionists initially refused to help. A doctor later called us back, dismissively suggesting that babies cry and we should simply console him - as if we weren't already doing so. To make matters worse, I've been struggling to obtain my inhalers. They initially demanded I travel to Birmingham city centre, and when I finally received them, they were completely incorrect. Two weeks have now passed, and I'm still waiting and suffering without the proper medication. Extremely unreliable and disappointing

Unhelpful and rude receptionist at local surgery

I recently attempted to register at this medical practice after relocating to the area. My visit was meant to be a quick drop-off of paperwork, but the experience was far from smooth. The receptionist was incredibly unwelcoming and persistently nagged me about wearing a facemask, despite my brief presence in the building and the fact that other patients were also not fully complying with mask protocols. Her communication was further complicated by the barrier of the plexiglass, making it difficult for her to understand me. To make matters worse, she disputed the relevance of the forms, claiming they weren't theirs, even though the name was clearly printed and the document had been emailed to me directly. When I inquired about accessing the EMIS patient portal, given my previous registration elsewhere, her response was dismissive and unhelpful. She simply stated that I would need to wait until after registration and expressed uncertainty about whether the paperwork would even be processed.
