Booking nightmare at local medical surgery

Securing a medical consultation has become an absolute ordeal. My infant is unwell, and I'm desperately attempting to schedule a visit, but each time I try, the system repeatedly declares "Appointments are full for today" and continues to do so until the following day. Upon calling the clinic directly, I was instructed to complete a form before they would even consider booking an appointment. In contrast, my previous medical practice was exceptional - you could call between 8:30 and 9am and receive same-day treatment. Our current experience with this surgery has been thoroughly disappointing. Regrettably, obtaining an appointment seems impossible.

Bureaucratic nightmare undermines healthcare access

They've recently displayed an organizational chart packed with managers, project coordinators, administrative personnel, HR representatives, and countless other roles. Yet, when it actually comes to utilizing their services, they are dismally disorganized, absurdly convoluted, and create insurmountable barriers to accessing even the most fundamental services. When you attempt to renew a prescription in time to prevent running out of medication (since their system won't allow booking too far ahead), they demand a medical review before authorizing prescription renewal, even for medications that never change! Suddenly, you're left with just a few days to navigate an impossible maze - essentially breaking into Fort Knox - to secure an appointment and allow the pharmacy time to prepare your medication. Their online booking system for medical reviews is completely useless, offering no available slots and forcing you to call 111. Ultimately, you're compelled to physically visit their office and consume everyone's time just to resolve a simple issue. Is it any wonder the NHS has such extensive patient waiting lists!!!!

Disorganized Surgery Deteriorates After Eleven Years

For the past eleven years, I have utilized this medical practice, yet I remain uncertain about the positive impact or changes it has brought to my family's life. There is a significant lack of organization here; there is no clarity regarding roles and responsibilities among the staff. Additionally, there seems to be little concern for following up on patients' treatments. This practice is quite disappointing. While I don't hold the individual practitioners accountable, it’s clear that management plays a crucial role in these issues. Previously, I was part of a well-structured medical facility in London. However, upon relocating here, we quickly recognized that this practice faces major challenges. We initially hoped for improvements over time; unfortunately, things have only deteriorated further. It may be necessary to consider shutting it down entirely.

Moved from the Furnace Green location, and I must say this practice is a significant improvement. The medical team is attentive and supportive, and the facility has been recently renovated, giving it an attractive and modern appearance. My sole criticism is the occasional delay in appointments, where patients frequently find themselves waiting well beyond their scheduled time, sometimes up to thirty minutes or more.

Initially and subsequently, my first and second COVID vaccine appointments were called off. The providers denied any cancellation. I reached out to the NHS booking service following the second cancellation, and they claimed it wasn't their doing. Fortunately, I managed to get both vaccinations at alternative locations.
