Long-term patient, though phone lines are tough

We have been patients at this practice for a considerable time and have consistently received excellent care from the clinical team, nursing staff, healthcare professionals and administrative personnel. During the recent pandemic period, accessing appointments by telephone presented challenges, though this appears to have been a widespread issue across many other practices as well.

Receptionists understood what I needed most

I have never experienced such excellent support from the medical team during the pandemic, which proved genuinely beneficial for my wellbeing. The reception staff demonstrated considerable understanding and empathy, and the care provided by everyone at the practice was truly compassionate and supportive. They helped me navigate some particularly challenging periods with my health concerns. The entire team at this surgery showed genuine care and compassion throughout. Practice dismissed mental health concerns without empathy

Probably a useful service in terms of physical health... I decided to contact the practice because I was experiencing suicidal thoughts. I felt the response lacked empathy and understanding. When I mentioned that I wasn't engaged in work or education due to mental health difficulties, the tone of the conversation changed and I was made to feel judged for my situation. I was given the impression that my low mood might improve if I were more active or productive. I found this experience particularly unhelpful. I should note that my neurodivergent status was known to the practice. If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, please reach out to support services such as the Samaritans or Childline instead.

Phone system makes booking difficult

Excellent clinical staff, however the communication channels present significant challenges. The telephone system requires extensive wait times, and the online booking platform is frequently inaccessible. It seems counterproductive to have systems in place that are so difficult to use.

Reception refused to help with medication request

I had no concerns with the practice until this recent visit. I went to see a family member for the first time in a year following lockdown, and they are dealing with a serious health condition. I accidentally left some medication at their home. I instructed them to dispose of it rather than send it back, as I didn't want to cause them any inconvenience. When I contacted the reception team, I was essentially informed that I would be unable to obtain a replacement of the medication.

Reception staff dismissive about mental health concerns

Having dealt with mental health challenges for nearly two decades, I was in a particularly vulnerable state when I was referred to this practice from another location. The clinician I consulted displayed a lack of empathy during our appointment and made comparisons to their own personal circumstances. Being advised to simply move past my difficulties and maintain a positive outlook was not the supportive response I needed at that time. I have decided not to return to this practice in the future.
