Quick appointment after morning phone call

Excellent service here, as always. I phoned in the morning and had a face to face appointment a few hours later. The clinician, whom I had not met before, was very reassuring and listened carefully to all my symptoms. They were friendly and understanding and soon made me feel more relaxed. 5* again for this excellent practice!

Practice refused urgent care for new patient

Extremely disappointing. My partner and I have just relocated to the area and required prompt medical attention while completing our practice registration. We were unable to access care at this time. While NHS guidance permits treatment for temporary patients during transition periods, the staff member handling our call indicated they were unable to deviate from standard procedures. I would recommend considering alternative practices in the area.

I discovered a concerning symptom and contacted the practice. Due to high call volumes, I used their callback service. When they rang back, they explained that same-day emergency slots were fully booked. I was advised to call again the following morning to request an emergency appointment, though I was informed this would likely result in being seen approximately a week later. I found it unclear how this timeframe aligns with the definition of an emergency appointment.

Impossible to book appointments through online forms

It has been very difficult to access appointments, whether in person or by telephone, as the reception process presents significant barriers. The staff at reception have not been helpful in facilitating bookings. The online form system for appointment requests is unreliable and frequently experiences technical issues. After submission, there can be lengthy waiting periods of up to a week before receiving any response, and contact is not always forthcoming.

Felt genuinely heard and properly listened to

I have to say I have never had a healthcare professional who has listened to what I have had to say and shown so much interest and care. The clinician I saw made me feel so at ease, which made it easy to talk about my concerns and issues. It was unbelievable that not only did they listen to my problems at present, but they also looked at previous appointments and checked how I have been regarding those. They really are a breath of fresh air and are a remarkable healthcare professional! It was lovely to feel heard and have someone who really does want to ensure they do everything they possibly can to help you feel well again. A massive thank you!

Phone appointment left me feeling dismissed and unheard

I felt treated disrespectfully during a recent phone consultation. The clinician seemed dismissive of my concerns, suggesting my symptoms were not genuine and that my throat swelling was psychological rather than a physical reaction. As someone with a long history of this condition, I felt my knowledge of my own health was not valued. I was frustrated that without a visual examination, my presentation was not taken seriously, and I left the appointment feeling labelled as someone wasting the practice's time.

Practice proactively contacted me about prescriptions

I have been with this practice for just a couple of weeks and am impressed by how different it is from my previous surgery. I was contacted proactively by a clinician without needing to request it, to help manage my repeat prescriptions and temporary medications. Today I received my Covid vaccination at home due to a mobility issue, which I had attempted to arrange elsewhere but faced frustration due to a lack of professional support and felt let down by their inability to assist me.
