Unprofessional service and broken communication promises

I was assured I would receive a referral call in the morning. However, as the afternoon rolls around, no communication has been made. Upon calling the practice, I discover they are unexpectedly "closed" for staff training and won't reopen until tomorrow. This has been an incredibly frustrating and deceptive encounter, and unfortunately, it's not the first time I've experienced such unprofessional treatment from this establishment.

Efficient healthcare with caring doctor at shakespeare road

I'm giving top marks to the team at Shakespeare Road, with special recognition for Dr Bashir Atella. Their e-consult form system is impressive, though initially it can seem overwhelming. On Tuesday morning around 8:15am, I spent nearly an hour completing the extensive questionnaire, carefully working through numerous questions before finally submitting. Impressively, just over three hours later, I received a text confirming an appointment with my preferred doctor for Friday morning. Considering how busy the practice is, their response time is truly remarkable. This was only my second encounter with Dr Atella, yet both times I've been struck by his warmth, attentiveness, thoroughness, and professional approach to understanding and addressing my health concerns. His careful questioning and diagnostic method have consistently left me feeling completely reassured about my medical care. I sincerely hope Dr Atella continues his excellent work at Shakespeare Road and never considers working elsewhere.

Inconsistent care with frustrating appointment scheduling

My personal experience with shakespeare is positive. I consistently receive timely appointments, quick prescription processing, and appropriate referrals for managing my health condition. I have been entirely satisfied with my care. HOWEVER, my husband's experience has been dramatically different. Despite clearly struggling and seeking help, he has been consistently overlooked. He cannot secure doctor appointments, and when he finally did get one, he was dismissively told he has sleep apnea—a diagnosis that makes no sense given he shows no related symptoms. His hair is falling out, yet his concerns seem unaddressed. They have cancelled his appointments twice without rebooking. Their communication is unreliable; they promise telephone consultations in the afternoon but instead call early morning, which severely disrupts his work schedule as an HGV driver. He is continually frustrated, missing appointments due to their inconsistent timing, and then being told he must restart the entire booking process because he missed their unexpected calls. Moreover, they provide no follow-up after blood tests, leaving us to constantly chase them for information and proper care.

Absolute disaster of a healthcare system! For an entire week, I've been attempting to schedule an appointment for my child. Upon calling today, I discovered something infuriating: despite having 15,000 patients registered, they halt their e-consultation service once 100 patient requests are received. This means they're only willing to address a minuscule 0.666666667% of their total patient population daily. To make matters worse, their e-consultations closed at 9:45 am. The sheer illogic of this is mind-boggling - how can a healthcare provider operate with such a restrictive and inefficient approach?

Terrible service and impossible to get medical help

This general practice surgery is an absolute nightmare. They arbitrarily cancel appointments without providing any alternative scheduling. Even when you contact them early, their electronic consultation system is perpetually unavailable or overloaded. Each attempt to connect results in a frustrating cycle: calling yields no results, and online forms generate error messages that redirect you back to the surgery or emergency services. The reception staff are completely unhelpful and seem indifferent to patients' needs. It's no surprise that hospital emergency departments are overwhelmed when patients are forced to seek medical attention through such channels due to the total lack of accessible primary care. The entire system is completely unacceptable and fundamentally broken.

Frustrating medical care with communication breakdown

Since leaving this review I've met with the manager twice. I believe there are clear communication gaps within the surgery, with locum doctors frequently changing. I hope improvements will come soon, as patients need straightforward guidance on using the consultation system. Many people struggle with technology, and even those who are tech-savvy find the consult app unclear and perplexing. I remain optimistic, but meaningful change is essential, along with transparent, effective communication. Patients deserve stability, empathy, understanding, and compassionate care. The system is overwhelmed, and it's incredibly frustrating to endure weeks-long wait times for appointments. Unbelievably, after waiting weeks to see a regular GP about a serious ongoing issue, a referral was made - and just like previously, it was mishandled! A referral was supposed to be sent to a specific hospital, but once again it was incorrectly processed. When I called the surgery to address this and discuss recent blood results, I was told I must restart the entire process by submitting a new consult and waiting weeks again to discuss the same issue for the third time because they seemingly can't get it right. I'm now preparing to file my first formal complaint, and if the response is unsatisfactory, I'll escalate to parliamentary levels, involve the local MP (which I expect will be equally ineffective), and make this public. This system is so fundamentally broken it's shocking. They desperately need to replace some of the staff at this surgery.
