Patient Experience Summary

Feedback on this practice reveals a deeply divided patient experience, with significant operational challenges overshadowing pockets of exceptional individual care. Appointment availability and booking remain persistent pain points, with patients reporting extensive waiting times to reach reception, lengthy phone queues, and difficulty securing timely consultations. Communication failures are widespread, including missed callbacks, cancelled appointments without rebooking, and inconsistent follow-up on test results and referrals. The reception experience has deteriorated markedly, with patients describing staff as unhelpful, dismissive, and discourteous, though some individual receptionists receive praise for going above and beyond.

In contrast, several doctors and nursing staff—particularly those in clinical roles—are consistently commended for compassionate care, attentive listening, and professional expertise. The e-consultation system, while intended to improve access, has created frustration due to slow response times, technical issues, and unsuitability for patients without reliable internet connectivity. Patients also report concerns about the shift away from in-person appointments and the quality of phone-based diagnoses without physical examination.

The practice appears to operate under significant capacity pressure, which some patients acknowledge, yet this does not excuse systemic issues with organisation, responsiveness, and basic courtesy. While individual clinical excellence is evident, the overall service quality is undermined by reception experience, appointment access, communication reliability, and inconsistent follow-up care.

Val saves the day for stressed mom

Incredible assistance from Val, a tired mother with two young children under two years old. I had registered my daughter two weeks prior, but her vaccinations hadn't been scheduled in time. Yesterday, I followed up and was advised to keep calling. Today, I spoke with Val, who was not just friendly, but went above and beyond in her helpfulness. She's truly an invaluable team member, and this isn't the first time she's come to my rescue. A massive THANK YOU to Val for alleviating one of my many parental worries ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Discriminatory treatment and terrible medical care

I am deeply distressed by the treatment I've received from this medical practice, and I now regret leaving my previous Guildowns clinic. Despite feeling unwell, I have not been able to consult with a GP in person, only over the phone. I was instructed to schedule blood tests, but I'm perplexed about how they can assess CRP and WCC markers when the tests are planned for one or two weeks later while I'm currently sick. How can they prescribe medication without first checking infection markers or waiting for blood results? They haven't even called me about my test outcomes. On Friday, I visited the practice seeking pain relief medication, and the receptionist promised the doctors would call me before day's end - but nothing happened. Then on Tuesday, I received a missed call, and when I called back on Wednesday, I was told the receptionist had booked something for Tuesday. Why fabricate such a story? It seems Shakespeare medical practice might have an issue with patients of color, as my health appears to be of little concern. They might as well write in bold: "No people of color allowed" and declare that our health rights are insignificant. I was informed that to receive pain relief medication, I must wait to speak with a doctor on Saturday. Meanwhile, am I expected to suffer or potentially die before receiving necessary medication? The management is utterly incompetent. Fortunately, when I returned to the practice today, I spoke with complaints manager S, who listened sympathetically and provided me with medication - for which I am grateful.

Amazing pediatric care for busy parents

Whenever I need medical assistance for my young child, I consistently receive a prompt response and can be seen by a healthcare professional within just 30 minutes. The e-consultation service has also been incredibly reliable. I'm truly appreciative of the numerous doctors who are readily available daily. Much appreciation!!!

Terrible service and complete patient disregard

I'm utterly frustrated by the complete lack of patient care at this medical practice. I urgently required this appointment, and they've already rescheduled twice without offering any earlier booking options. Their advice is to call 111, as if a phone service can magically perform X-rays and diagnose health issues remotely. Their approach is entirely unprofessional, and I have zero desire to remain their patient. I caution everyone to be extremely wary when considering this GP surgery. It's clear they no longer prioritize patient well-being.

Terrible medical practice that does not care

Over the past decade and a half, this medical practice has progressively declined in their quality of care. I've repeatedly attempted to address ongoing health concerns through e-consults and phone calls, yet I feel completely disregarded. Their communication is frustratingly inconsistent - they promise to contact me on a specific date and time, but consistently fail to follow through, instead attempting to reach me at random, inconvenient moments without any consideration for my work schedule. As a dental nurse working the same hours they operate, I cannot always have my phone accessible during treatments. The most shocking incident occurred recently when they callously advised me to wait until 6:30 to call 111, purely to absolve themselves of responsibility after their office closes. The receptionists are unhelpful, and the doctors seem content to manage everything through impersonal phone consultations, never requesting an in-person examination. This approach is so negligent that I fear they will only take action after a serious incident occurs. Their lack of genuine patient care is absolutely appalling.

Terrible healthcare service destroying families lives

Not a single staff member seems to comprehend their documentation. My grandfather is critically unwell, and at every turn, they complicate both his and our family's circumstances. I'm attempting to improve my grandad's situation while he's in poor health, so I requested they classify him as homebound to enable doctor home visits, since transporting him and moving him between wheelchairs and vehicles is further deteriorating his condition. They demanded I bring him in again. Additionally, they've phoned me and then tried to speak directly with my grandad, who has been deaf his entire life, and subsequently refused to communicate with me after allegedly "misplacing" my authorization to discuss his care. This facility desperately needs closure due to their incompetent management, which creates unnecessary obstacles for families simply wanting proper care for their loved ones. The operations executive is completely ineffective. I'm convinced nothing will ever improve here - it requires complete shutdown. For an organization supposedly dedicated to caring for vulnerable individuals during illness, they paradoxically cause more damage than assistance.

Terrible service for my struggling elderly mother

I am utterly frustrated by the complete lack of support from this medical practice. Two weeks prior to taking time off work, I attempted to schedule an in-person appointment for my elderly mother, who suffers from multiple health issues, so I could accompany her. Despite numerous attempts to book a COPD review due to her progressively worsening breathing, I was repeatedly turned away with claims of no available appointments and ultimately forced to accept a phone consultation. Predictably, during the phone call, it was determined that she needs an in-person examination. However, even with the nurse's recommendation, I am still unable to secure an actual appointment - I can book for her other medical concerns, but not for her most critical health problem that cannot be adequately addressed via telephone. The receptionist displayed an astonishing level of indifference, treating me as though I were a mere inconvenience. Repeatedly citing their patient volume does nothing to address the urgent care my mother desperately needs. This practice is failing her completely. A small amount of empathy and genuine effort to resolve the issue would make an enormous difference.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service

Absolute zero rating if I could! A complete disaster of a medical procedure. The front desk staff are discourteous and utterly unhelpful. They're incapable of handling basic administrative tasks, failing to read documents correctly and misplacing them repeatedly. They've only succeeded in generating additional anxiety for a family already struggling through the challenging recovery process after a critical heart incident.

Confusing form with limited identity options

The updated patient form proves quite intriguing! I'm limited to entering just one of my middle names, yet I can select a gender identity beyond the traditional male and female options. However, I'm puzzled by categories like "White other" or "White Irish" - why are there no selections for White English, Welsh, or Scottish? Additionally, I'm frustrated that I can only list my wife as a "partner" rather than specifying her actual relationship to me.

Terrible pharmacy service with dangerous medication mismanagement

They repeatedly mishandle my prescriptions, falsely claiming I'm requesting controlled medications prematurely, even though I ordered them five weeks ago when I'm supposed to request them every 3-3.5 weeks. These are critical medications I cannot interrupt. When I contact their office, the staff are incredibly discourteous, initially blaming me for not ordering on time and dismissing their own mistakes, only changing their stance when I mention I have proof. Their unprofessional behavior is absolutely intolerable, and these incompetent buffoons desperately need to be held accountable!!!!

Worst medical experience ever horrible service and delays

I must express my extreme dissatisfaction with this medical practice, which has provided the most subpar service I've ever experienced. After getting x-rays on my arms 5-6 weeks ago, I'm still struggling to communicate with a physician. I specifically requested a call after 4 PM due to availability, but they called at two, causing me to miss their contact. They then scheduled another phone consultation, but on the designated day, I received a text canceling the call and proposing a new date of June 22nd - we'll see if that actually happens. I've been suffering from a frozen shoulder for over three months, and I've only managed to see a physiotherapist once. This is an absolute disgrace, and they should be thoroughly ashamed of their unprofessional conduct. It's high time they return to in-person appointments so patients can actually meet with a doctor face-to-face. I am completely disgusted by their incompetence and lack of patient care.

Frustrating phone service with unhelpful staff

Yesterday, I endured a frustrating 56-minute phone wait seeking guidance from your practice. Upon finally connecting, I was simply informed that all appointments were fully booked and instructed to call back this morning at 8am. The receptionist who answered made no attempt to inquire about my specific medical issue or collect any personal information like my name or date of birth. After my lengthy initial wait, I followed their instruction and called back at 8am this morning, only to encounter precisely the same unproductive scenario, which prompted me to hang up in exasperation. I am currently recuperating from a complete knee replacement and have discovered that one of my essential medications has been unexpectedly discontinued. Had the receptionist shown even minimal interest by asking about my medical concern, I would have gladly explained my situation. However, she demonstrated zero curiosity about the nature of my problem. Needless to say, I am thoroughly disappointed by the manner in which I was treated during this interaction. Is there any possibility of speaking with someone who can genuinely address my medical concern?

Disappointing decline in medical practice quality

these medical professionals were previously exceptional; the front desk staff consistently went above and beyond to assist everyone. however, something has changed, and now they seem riddled with negativity and are dismissive, eager to push patients aside. they're quick to brush people off with "call back tomorrow" - but if I could wait until tomorrow, I wouldn't be calling right now. they're also prone to making hasty phone diagnoses without even seeing the patient, which is completely unacceptable.
