Frustrating and inconsistent healthcare experience
Medical practices can be hit or miss, and I consistently experience significant stress when dealing with my local GP surgery. The telephone staff often come across as unsympathetic and dismissive. While some doctors are excellent once you secure an appointment, others tend to hurry patients through consultations. The waiting room environment is frustrating, with frequent delays caused by patients chatting extensively with receptionists, which can push appointment times back. When you finally get to see the doctor, they might criticize you for being "late" and dismissively ignore your health concerns. The entire experience is so overwhelming that I find myself actively avoiding seeking medical care, even when my health requires attention, simply due to the anxiety the surgery provokes.

Our family has been patients at Shay Lane for many years and have consistently experienced outstanding care from Dr Patel, Dr Taylor Bernard, Dr Leaver, Sister Norris, and the entire medical team, both past and present. The healthcare professionals here are not just competent, but truly exceptional. Moreover, their appointment system is incredibly efficient. We can always secure a same-day consultation, either by phone or in person. Compared to the frustrating experiences of our friends who use Ask my GP and struggle to even book an appointment, this practice's service is truly extraordinary!

Upon reaching out to the Practice Manager via email, she stood by the receptionist's account, even though her understanding of the situation was fundamentally wrong. Moreover, her response was discourteous, distant, and completely devoid of compassion. The demeanor of the reception staff seems to suggest that the doctors might be similarly unprofessional, so I would strongly advise steering clear of this practice. I'm thankful that I'll continue with my current healthcare provider, which maintains a warm and supportive environment.

I usually don’t leave reviews but I was really impressed with Dr Taylor Bernard. I was worried about a rash that my daughter had developed. The team arranged me an emergency appointment and I was seen very quickly. Dr Taylor Bernard did a very thorough examination of my daughter and gave me some medication and reassurance. I have also spoken with Dr Taylor Bernard about some personal issues, which he dealt with very compassionately, for which I was extremely grateful. I am very impressed with Dr Taylor Bernard, and so would not hesitate to recommend the practice.

This surgical experience was absolutely terrible. Whether it's for myself or my kids, the medical staff seems solely focused on pushing over-the-counter medications that provide no real relief. As a result, you end up making repeated visits to the doctor without any meaningful resolution.

Unprofessional and unhelpful medical practice
Whenever we consult our general practitioner, we're consistently advised to purchase over-the-counter medications, even for my infant under one year old. Upon expressing my worries via email to the surgery, the practice manager coldly suggested we find another medical practice if we're dissatisfied. I am absolutely appalled by their complete absence of compassion, and looking back, had I been aware of their callous patient treatment, I would never have chosen this practice. I am seriously contemplating transferring our medical care elsewhere!!!!
