Reception staff answered my questions thoroughly

I have had experience with several members of the clinical team at this practice. They are all consistently kind and reassuring, willing to answer any questions and always follow up when they say they will. Especially given how busy GP services are nowadays, they do an excellent job despite what are likely demanding workloads. Thank you!

Reception queue took priority over patients

Getting through to reception takes 10 minutes by car or an hour on the phone where you're told you're caller number 20. Waiting a month for an appointment to see a clinician feels excessive. Multiple visits were needed for a repeat prescription because records couldn't be located. I observed reception staff having personal conversations while patients waited in the queue. The overall experience has been frustrating. The service felt better in the past.

Friendly practice that fits you in quickly

I have been a patient at this practice for nearly two years. Throughout my time here, I have consistently found the staff to be welcoming and supportive. On multiple occasions when I have required urgent appointments, the practice has been able to fit me in with minimal notice. Additionally, the availability of an on-site dispensary has proven convenient for collecting my medications.

I have been attending this practice for over two decades and typically only seek an appointment when I have exhausted other available resources such as the local pharmacy or NHS online services. When I have needed urgent care, I have consistently been able to obtain same-day appointments by providing adequate notice to the practice. For non-urgent matters, I am comfortable with waiting times. The standard of care provided by the practice clinicians during a particularly difficult period in my family was exemplary and deserving of praise. I have great confidence in the quality of care and service delivered by the entire team at this practice.

Phone lines constantly engaged and unresponsive

I understand that general practice services are under considerable pressure and the wider system faces challenges, but I found contacting the surgery to be extremely difficult. The phone line was frequently busy, and when I did manage to get through, the call would ring out without being answered. It seems unusual that an automated service would become engaged in this way. It would be beneficial if local property developers, who are constructing numerous new homes in the area, would consider contributing towards and investing in the community's infrastructure and services.

Long wait with no explanation given

Disappointing experience. I was kept waiting for a considerable amount of time, and when I inquired about the delay, the staff were unable to locate my appointment details or provide clarification. When I requested to reschedule, I was informed of a lengthy wait for the next available slot. I did not receive an apology for the inconvenience.

Repeat prescription issues and poor note transfers

After relocating to the area, I registered at this practice. My husband's medical records were not transferred over, and we were instructed to contact our previous surgery to resolve this matter on multiple occasions. Additionally, repeat medications were not processed as expected, and on the occasions when they were available, we were informed that they were out of stock and directed elsewhere. We have since registered at another local surgery, which has proven to be a significantly better experience in comparison.

The team at this practice are excellent! Having recently relocated to the area, I found that my medical records and ongoing medications were transferred smoothly without any complications. Within a week of joining, they contacted me to arrange a routine medication check. Every member of staff I have encountered has been efficient, approachable and well-informed, and I feel comfortable discussing any health concerns with them. The one area for improvement is that most of their immunisation clinics are scheduled at times that don't work well for those with standard working hours, which made it challenging to secure an appointment at one of their limited alternative time slots.
