Compassionate care that healed my medical anxiety

The healthcare professionals at Somerford Grove are truly the most compassionate I've ever met. The nursing staff (whose names I unfortunately can't recall) have been incredibly understanding with me. I typically lose consciousness at the sight of needles, and in past experiences, I've felt pressured to quickly recover and leave. The nurse here was different - she took extensive time with me before and after my fainting episode, explaining why it occurred and helping me understand that such reactions are quite normal and not something to be ashamed of. Dr. Ezra Waterman-Wiggins is undoubtedly the most engaged, empathetic, and attentive listener I've ever encountered. When conversing with him, my self-doubting thoughts like "I might be overreacting" or "I shouldn't burden him with my problems" completely disappear. In his presence, I feel genuinely heard and validated. A prime example was during the Covid pandemic when I was isolated in a foreign country and experiencing severe depression. He dedicated significant time to listening to me, allowing me to openly express my emotions over the phone. Moreover, he proactively helped by connecting me with support groups and resources to alleviate my isolation. This was a profoundly unique medical experience, and I am immensely thankful for his care.

Frustrating medical service with poor communication

I took a blood test and waited over a month without receiving results. When I tried calling to schedule an appointment, the receptionist Tracey insisted on booking through a phone consultation. It seems the pandemic is over, so doctors shouldn't continue working remotely. I was feeling unwell, yet my appointment was scheduled more than a week and a half later. My wife had an urgent medical need, but she was also given an appointment after two weeks. Upon visiting the office, they asked me to choose my preferred appointment time. The office staff clearly undervalues patients, especially those who might struggle with English communication. I've been in the same area for 10 years, so if I can understand, why can't they? They should be more considerate and helpful, particularly towards patients with potential language barriers.
