Feedback reflects a practice experiencing significant operational challenges that substantially impact patient access to care. Appointment availability remains the dominant concern, with patients reporting extreme difficulty securing slots through both telephone and online booking systems. The practice operates primarily on a same-day appointment model requiring early morning contact, creating barriers for those unable to call at opening times or attend in person. Telephone access is frequently problematic, with high call volumes, disconnections, and lengthy waiting times reported consistently. Reception experience is mixed, with some patients praising courteous and helpful staff, while others describe gatekeeping behaviour and dismissive interactions. Communication breakdowns occur regularly, including inadequate follow-up on test results, delayed responses to requests, and insufficient clarity about ongoing care pathways.
When patients do access clinical services, feedback on care quality is generally positive, with nursing and clinical staff frequently described as compassionate, thorough, and responsive. Several patients specifically appreciated the attentiveness and professionalism of clinical teams. However, these positive clinical experiences are substantially overshadowed by systemic access issues that prevent many patients from receiving care when needed. Administrative processes have also been problematic, with delays in document processing, medication ordering difficulties, and system changes causing confusion.
The practice appears to be struggling with capacity relative to demand. Long-term patients report noticeable decline from previous standards, particularly following management changes. While some recent reviews indicate improved experiences with responsive care and efficient service delivery, the overall pattern suggests persistent challenges with appointment availability, communication, and accessibility that require urgent attention to meet patient needs effectively.

Bad!
Reception staff unhelpful during phone booking
The practice appears indifferent to patient needs and continues to operate with restrictions reminiscent of earlier pandemic protocols. Patients report experiencing complications without adequate follow-up care. The service quality requires significant improvement.

Early morning queuing required for any appointment access
I find this practice to be extremely frustrating and unhelpful. Obtaining an appointment is nearly impossible unless you arrive at the door very early in the morning, which is impractical for anyone in employment. The approach of redirecting patients elsewhere rather than offering brief appointments feels dismissive, particularly when you have already explained your work commitments. I submitted detailed information through the online form system, which the practice actively encourages, yet received generic responses that appeared to ignore everything I had written. I was repeatedly directed to alternative services instead of being offered a consultation slot. After seeking guidance from another healthcare service, I was advised to contact my registered practice, with the expectation of receiving a call the same day. Instead, the practice sent a text message directing me to go elsewhere once again. It is deeply frustrating that accessing care at a surgery where I am registered requires such effort. The practice shows little regard for the online forms patients are encouraged to complete, and telephone lines are not answered during opening hours. This is not an isolated incident for me; I have experienced similar difficulties previously and have had to seek help through other means as a result. On a previous occasion, I followed all the correct steps by completing a form and providing my availability. I was told an advance appointment could be arranged, but then instructed to submit another form on the morning I could attend, with assurance of a same-day slot. When I completed this form as instructed, it was overlooked throughout the morning. Only after I called to follow up were I informed that all appointments had been taken. This forced me to attend an alternative service, which subsequently referred me elsewhere due to the delay. I intend to register with a different practice and cannot recommend this surgery to anyone seeking reliable access to appointments.

Long waits made getting help difficult
I have been experiencing nausea for several months, during which I have undergone significant weight loss and experienced two episodes of losing consciousness that required emergency department attendance. I was only able to obtain a single appointment with the practice, which came after waiting three weeks. Throughout this waiting period, I attended the emergency department twice due to fainting episodes, and subsequently received my test results after a considerable delay. I have made repeated calls to the surgery regarding additional test results and have been assured on several occasions that these would be followed up, though this has not materialised. Based on my experience, I would caution prospective patients against registering with this practice, as I would not wish others to encounter the same level of service that I have received. I would rate this practice at the lowest possible level, as I believe they fall significantly short of acceptable standards.

Receptionist dismissed my concerns without listening properly
After submitting a digital health request regarding shoulder discomfort, I was directed to attend the emergency department. Concerned about the strain on NHS services, I attempted to discuss my situation with the reception team, but was met with a rather dismissive response and told to submit another request with different answers to the questions. This approach felt unprofessional. I proceeded with a second request and was subsequently offered a telephone consultation scheduled three weeks ahead. I find this timeframe frustrating given that I'm experiencing pain from a bone-related issue. While not an acute emergency, three weeks is a considerable wait to manage ongoing discomfort before receiving clinical assessment. This matter requires hands-on evaluation rather than further discussion. Having been registered with this practice since its inception, I've noticed a significant decline in the quality of care provided. I would recommend that prospective patients consider alternative healthcare providers.

Urgent requests ignored, long waits for replies
Requests for animal-related care tend to be overlooked or patients are redirected to hospital facilities rather than receiving a response, often after extended waiting periods of several hours. This pattern appears to have persisted for an extended period and seems to be deteriorating.

Felt genuinely heard and properly supported throughout
I had recent appointments at my general practice and felt compelled to leave a review. Without going into personal health details, I just want to say how refreshing the experience was. For the first time in a long time I truly felt heard. The clinician listened carefully, took my concerns seriously, investigated things thoroughly, and arranged appropriate referrals where needed. They also put together a clear treatment plan so I felt supported moving forward. People often criticise the NHS and so many patients feel their health concerns are dismissed but experiences like this remind you just how exceptional it can be when you encounter a healthcare professional who genuinely cares. I left the appointment feeling reassured and supported, which makes such a difference. Thank you for the time, care and professionalism – it really meant a lot.

Receptionists took time to understand my problem
I called the practice and spoke with a helpful and friendly member of the reception team yesterday when I was experiencing some difficulties with an online system. They were genuinely keen to assist with my problem, took their time with me, and demonstrated kindness and understanding throughout. I subsequently spoke with another receptionist who was equally warm and welcoming. They discussed my health concerns with me, and I later received a message from a clinician. The overall care I received was excellent.

Couldn't get appointment for my daughter
I have been unable to arrange an appointment for my child at this practice, and I am concerned that her health is deteriorating. Even after being directed to another local facility for assessment, I was advised to seek ongoing care from my regular GP. However, I am frustrated by the lack of engagement in addressing my child's needs. I am uncertain how to proceed when the practice does not seem willing to see my child.

Quick response solved my problem today
I must say I am genuinely impressed with the level of service provided by this practice. Although I don't regularly visit in person, I have been managing some concerns recently. The support I have received has been excellent. I contacted someone this afternoon and my issue was resolved promptly.

Reception staff helped with forms and sign-in
An excellent NHS surgery. Like all surgeries these days, they're clearly very busy. But they've demonstrated multiple times for me and my family that they're there for you when you need them. Their reception team are informed, efficient and helpful and they're more than happy to help you to complete forms, sign into systems etc. And you couldn't wish for better clinical staff – they're kind, caring, extremely knowledgeable and professional. Well done and a heartfelt thank-you to you all. The NHS is lucky to have you!

Quick response times through online booking system
My young child has been seen twice this week at the local surgery. We submitted requests through the online system and received appointment confirmations by phone within approximately half an hour on both occasions. I was initially uncertain about the practice, but since registering earlier in the year I have found the experience to be very positive overall. The clinical staff have been excellent in their care and support throughout both visits.

Thorough follow-up care identified underlying issue
I was under the care of my healthcare provider for my postnatal review appointment and I appreciated how they arranged regular blood tests for me. The second set of tests covered important markers to investigate why my iron levels weren't improving as expected. It turned out I had a deficiency that was identified through these investigations. Thank you for being thorough in looking into underlying causes rather than just treating surface-level symptoms. A practitioner who takes this approach to care is genuinely uncommon, and I'm truly grateful for it.

Felt genuinely listened to and supported throughout
I've been a patient at this practice for several years now. The care I've received has been consistently excellent across all areas. Whether dealing with various health concerns, the team has provided great support throughout. I understand that booking appointments can sometimes be challenging, but this is a widespread issue across the NHS rather than specific to this practice. I'm very grateful for the dedicated service provided by everyone there.

Struggling to reach the practice by phone
I find it extremely difficult to reach the practice by phone due to the high volume of calls being received. The website also doesn't function properly for me, which makes accessing medical support even more challenging. I'm currently unable to leave home and have children to care for, so attending a walk-in centre isn't an option. I've made multiple attempts to contact the practice but there's no facility to request a callback or any alternative way to get assistance. The automated message simply states they cannot answer calls at the moment. This situation is very frustrating and I feel the service continues to deteriorate.

Receptionist dismissed concerns without proper assessment
My wife is someone who dislikes taking up the doctor's time and is reluctant to make appointments even when unwell. Over the past 2 years she has experienced persistent neck pain, and I encouraged her to seek medical advice. When she eventually agreed, I was pleased. However, when she contacted the practice to arrange an appointment, she was unable to obtain one and was instead advised by reception staff to purchase over-the-counter pain relief from a pharmacy. Following her request for further support, she was offered a self-referral to a musculoskeletal clinic at the hospital. The appointment came through after a 3-month wait, but the clinician indicated that their options for treatment were limited. Imaging was not recommended, with the explanation that it was unlikely to be helpful. I subsequently arranged private imaging, which revealed a structural issue with the cervical spine that may account for her prolonged pain. I feel that both the GP practice and the hospital clinic fell short of the standard of care I would have expected, and I am disappointed with how her concerns were handled.
