Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a significant divide between clinical and administrative experiences at this practice. Medical professionals, particularly several named doctors, consistently receive praise for excellent clinical care, responsiveness, and compassionate treatment. However, this positive assessment is substantially overshadowed by widespread concerns about appointment access, with patients reporting extended phone queues, call disconnections, and difficulty securing timely slots. Reception experience emerges as a persistent challenge, with multiple accounts of discourteous staff, dismissive communication, and poor courtesy during interactions. Prescription processing presents another recurring issue, with patients describing delays and administrative errors that have sometimes resulted in medication gaps.

Operational and administrative management appear to be the core problems undermining the practice's overall service. Patients describe frustration with phone system inefficiency, lengthy waiting times before connecting with staff, and challenges navigating booking procedures. Several reviews highlight communication barriers and a lack of respect during reception interactions, with some patients reporting that staff appeared indifferent to their concerns. The contrast between the quality of medical care and the accessibility barriers is stark, with some patients noting they ultimately resort to emergency services to secure consultations.

While a minority of patients report supportive and accommodating reception experiences, the dominant pattern across feedback indicates that administrative processes and reception courtesy require substantial improvement. The practice appears to struggle with managing patient access and communication effectively, despite maintaining strong clinical standards.

Dangerous medical negligence for vulnerable elderly patient

Complete chaos at this medical practice. Around three weeks back, I needed to secure a relative's routine prescription. My sister visited the surgery with the medication box, which the receptionist assured would be prescribed by the doctor. However, when she returned the next day, the tablets were 2.5 mgs different from the original dosage! After multiple phone calls, it emerged that the doctor (WITHOUT EXAMINING THE PATIENT) decided to discontinue the lower dose. These blood pressure tablets were changed without even checking the patient's blood pressure!! The receptionist called me in response to my repeated inquiries to announce the medication was stopped. When I requested a home visit, she claimed she couldn't schedule an appointment, despite speaking with me directly. (The patient affected is 103 years old and has been taking these exact tablets for 40 years)! When I asked to speak with the practice manager, she deliberately ignored me. I've noticed from other reviews that this practice routinely "fails to hear" patients on phone calls. I plan to write to the practice manager and suggest they get BT involved, as this seems a recurring issue! This surgery clearly prioritizes administrative convenience over patient care, with their complicated phone systems and restricted communication times. It's the 21st century - with proper training, all receptionists should be capable of handling any task at any time! As a final note, I'm still waiting over three weeks for a blood test!

Worst service and attitude ever experienced

Steer clear of this establishment. While other venues have relaxed their protocols, this place seems stuck in the past. Scheduling an in-person consultation is a nightmare. The front desk staff exhibits the most unpleasant demeanor I've ever encountered.

Terrible service delays critical medical assessment

I've been struggling for four days, making countless calls just to reach someone. When I finally get through, I'm informed there are no available appointments for nearly a month, and the sole staff member responsible for scheduling beyond that period is currently absent. This delay is particularly critical as we're awaiting a follow-up consultation to determine whether my wife requires a cancer biopsy. The situation at St Edwards Medical Centre is utterly deplorable.

Terrible customer service that left me frustrated

After enduring a one-hour wait, they finally picked up and acted as if they couldn't comprehend me before abruptly disconnecting the call. Such unprofessional conduct is unacceptable and potentially dangerous in this country. I am absolutely outraged and will definitely be filing a formal complaint against them.

Terrible service from once-reliable medical practice

I've been receiving care at this practice for approximately a decade, but the quality of service has markedly deteriorated over the past 12 months. Obtaining repeat prescriptions has become an extremely challenging process. I've been forced to repeatedly contact them via phone and email, often waiting up to a week before my monthly medication is due, and they consistently fail to process the prescription promptly. In short, the service is absolutely terrible.

Terrible service and unprofessional medical staff

Absolutely terrible ordeal. The personnel are incompetent. I underwent a blood test a month ago and have been desperately attempting to schedule a consultation with the doctor regarding my further treatment. I've been persistently calling both morning and afternoon, and even visited the clinic in person, yet the staff adamantly refuse to book an appointment. This is undoubtedly the most unprofessional GP practice with extremely unhelpful employees! I strongly advise against using their services!

Worst medical service ever total nightmare

This medical practice is absolutely appalling. The initial challenge is simply attempting to communicate with them, where even being first in line means enduring a wait exceeding half an hour. Once you finally connect, you're confronted by a discourteous, ineffective receptionist who claims all appointments are gone, despite your position at the top of the queue. Should you miraculously secure a telephone consultation, the GP will make an incredibly brief call, abruptly hanging up and leaving a voicemail promising to return in ten minutes - a promise they never fulfill. Attempting to follow up means re-engaging with the delightful reception staff, who will then accuse you of fabricating the story. The sole method I've discovered for obtaining any medical consultation is to contact the emergency services number 111 and secure an urgent appointment through that channel.

Worst medical experience ever absolute nightmare

I wish I could rate this zero, but the system won't allow it. This medical practice is a complete disaster, with zero coordination between staff. Getting blood test forms is impossible - they claim forms aren't available when the doctor says they've left them. Even obtaining test results requires explicit doctor authorization. Their incompetence is staggering; during a medical emergency caused by low blood levels, they take days to notify you, and that's only after you've repeatedly contacted them. Attempting to speak with anyone is an exercise in frustration, as they consistently claim no appointments are open. The doctors are perpetually unavailable, never returning calls, forcing patients to waste endless time waiting. If you're seeking legitimate medical care, these people are utterly unqualified to provide any meaningful assistance.

Terrible service destroying patient health and hope

I've been attempting to connect with someone since 10 AM, and now it's nearly 1 PM, yet I'm still unable to speak with anyone. They repeatedly disconnect the call each time I try to communicate. My health condition is deteriorating, and I'm unable to secure a medical consultation. Their service is completely unacceptable and falls far below professional expectations, potentially compromising patient well-being. I intend to file a formal complaint with the NHS Complaints Advocacy and Healthwatch organizations to address these serious service failures.

Terrible service and long wait times

After being a long-time customer, I found myself enduring a 90-minute phone queue, only to be met with an extremely dismissive and curt receptionist. I was told to call back tomorrow, which was completely unhelpful. Unlike the typically supportive staff I'm accustomed to speaking with, this particular representative clearly lacks basic customer service skills and professionalism.

Frustrating prescription service that wastes your time

Attempting to use their online prescription renewal service is impossible due to a website outage. Instead, you're forced to phone in, enduring an excruciatingly lengthy automated message before selecting the prescription option. The call abruptly disconnects. Repeating the entire process, you miraculously remain connected this time, finding yourself third in the queue. After an additional 20 minutes of waiting, you finally reach a representative. But just as they utter "how can I help you," they inexplicably hang up before you can respond.

The front desk management is a complete mess, with the reception staff consistently avoiding accountability for their errors. If you attempt to schedule an appointment early in the day, they'll answer your call only to abruptly hang up, forcing you to redial and wait in line again. Their response is infuriatingly dismissive: "All slots are filled. Try calling later in the day for more availability." The entire experience is utterly absurd and unprofessional!

Compassionate doctor who truly cares for patients

Dr Hossain is an exceptional general practitioner, truly top-notch. Sure, he might not always run on schedule, but that's simply because he's dedicating thorough attention to each patient's needs. To those who criticize his timing, remember you might be the one requiring extended care next time. Let's show some gratitude for the incredible work our healthcare professionals and the NHS provide. Sincere appreciation.
