Patient Experience Summary

Feedback across this file reveals a practice struggling significantly with administrative and operational functions, creating substantial barriers to patient access. Appointment booking presents persistent challenges, with patients reporting difficulties reaching the practice by phone, encountering non-functional online systems, and experiencing extended waiting times both to schedule and to be seen. Reception experience emerges as a key concern, with multiple accounts of discourteous interactions, unresponsiveness, and staff appearing indifferent to patient needs. Communication failures are widespread, including delayed responses to queries, unanswered callback requests, and poor coordination between departments.

In contrast, clinical care from medical professionals receives notably more positive feedback, with patients frequently describing doctors and nurses as competent, professional, and genuinely supportive when consultations finally occur. Several patients specifically praised individual clinicians for their expertise and compassionate approach. This stark difference between clinical and administrative performance suggests the practice's core challenge lies in its organisational systems and front-facing staff rather than the quality of medical care itself.

Patients express frustration that accessing healthcare should not require such persistent effort, and many report the experience as emotionally draining. The combination of booking difficulties, communication breakdowns, and reception discourtesy has led some patients to seek alternative providers, despite acknowledging the competence of the medical staff. Systemic improvements to appointment access, phone responsiveness, and administrative coordination appear essential to address the widespread dissatisfaction evident throughout the feedback.

Thyroid issues and endless medical record runaround

I recently re-enrolled with this medical practice after a long absence, and frankly, it's been a terrible experience. My blood test results have been pending for over a fortnight, they've restricted my access to personal health records, and despite my weekly follow-up calls, no progress has been made. The front desk staff is completely unhelpful, repeatedly promising to forward my concerns to the administrative team but delivering zero results. Living with a thyroid condition is challenging enough, and their refusal to provide my test results is preventing me from managing my health effectively - it's absolutely unacceptable.

Decent facility but needs serious work

Still has significant room for enhancement. The medical facility appears modern with up-to-date equipment. The most efficient method for scheduling is through their online platform, where patients can easily request virtual consultations.

Staff moving at snail's pace

This establishment is a complete letdown. A few months back, it was marginally better, but now it's beyond hope. They pretend to be swamped with work. When you visit, there are two staff members at the reception, yet the place is always eerily empty. One person answers calls while the other just sits idle. You might assume you're on hold due to high volume - absolutely not. They move at a glacial pace with zero sense of urgency. They'll take a fortnight to schedule a phone appointment, but walk in, and you'll get a date immediately. They're clearly pushing people to call instead of showing up in person. COME IN PERSON, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WAITING. They're aggressively cutting costs. The medical staff are equally incompetent - I'm now pursuing a medical negligence claim. They left me without treatment for six months by failing to refer me to a specialist. Absolutely appalling. Witnessing their casual attitude firsthand is infuriating. They remain incredibly relaxed and sluggish, despite being understaffed.

Ignored and frustrated at st paul's way clinic

I finally enrolled my daughter and myself at St Paul's Way Medical Centre after considerable hesitation, and the experience has been thoroughly disappointing. We've attempted multiple communication channels—phone consultations, referral requests, social prescribing inquiries, and NHS app interactions—yet received absolutely zero meaningful response. Even an in-person visit to the practice yielded no results, with staff displaying complete indifference to our medical concerns. The practice's performance has dramatically deteriorated, demonstrating remarkable incompetence and total disregard for patient care. The entire experience has been frustratingly unproductive, and I am eagerly anticipating transferring to a different GP surgery where I hope to encounter genuine, responsive healthcare service.

Unhelpful doctors for my back pain

These healthcare providers are completely ineffective. Despite struggling with persistent back pain from a sports injury for several months, their solution was to simply print out generic advice about computer posture, rather than referring me to a physiotherapist who could actually help. In contrast, my previous general practitioner was far more proactive and competent. I'm absolutely determined to switch medical practices as quickly as I can. I strongly advise anyone against registering with this clinic.

Cruel doctors dismissed mom's serious health concerns

My mother's health deteriorated due to medical negligence, ultimately leading to her passing. Dr. Atiya Ali displayed a callous attitude, even chuckling upon hearing about my mother's dire situation, with another physician dismissing her concerns as exaggerated. Despite my mother's consistent efforts to communicate and collaborate, her pleas were largely ignored. While the reception staff were kind and supportive, the medical professionals demonstrated a shocking level of unprofessionalism that warrants serious consequences, potentially including the revocation of their medical licenses.

Terrible phone service at my local clinic

This general practitioner is absolutely the most incompetent medical professional I've encountered. Every single time I attempt to schedule an appointment, I'm subjected to an incredibly frustrating process that consumes hours of my time. They offer a supposed callback service, which I've repeatedly used, but each time the staff simply rings and immediately disconnects the call. The entire situation is utterly unacceptable, and urgent action is required to address these glaring communication failures.

Five forms later and still no help

I am writing to formally express my profound disappointment with the abysmal service provided by this GP practice. Over several weeks, I have been forced to submit the identical form five times for a straightforward, time-critical letter. Despite explicitly explaining the urgency of my request and persistently following up, I have received absolutely no response, update, or indication of any action. This repeated failure to handle basic administrative tasks is completely unacceptable. The administrative staff's conduct has been consistently unprofessional. They have proven dismissive, unhelpful, and frequently bordering on rudeness. It is evident that there is a total breakdown of communication, coordination, and accountability within the practice. As a patient, I should not be compelled to repeatedly chase the same request or feel unreasonable for expecting minimal service standards. Such negligence creates unnecessary stress and fundamentally erodes patient confidence in the practice's ability to deliver even the most basic healthcare support. Patients have demanding lives and depend on their GP to act efficiently and responsibly—a standard that has been comprehensively missed here. If this situation is not immediately resolved, I will have no alternative but to escalate my concerns to appropriate regulatory authorities. These failings are intolerable, and the practice must urgently address these serious deficiencies. If possible, I would assign zero stars. I demand to speak with the practice manager, as significant changes are imperative, or this practice risks complete collapse.

Waited nearly two hours just to be ghosted

If I could award fewer than zero stars, I absolutely would. This medical practice is unquestionably the most incompetent healthcare provider I've ever encountered. When I suffered from severe tonsillitis months ago, the pharmacy redirected me back to the surgery, and I received zero follow-up, ultimately forcing me to seek expensive private treatment. Today, I endured an excruciating 1 hour and 45 minutes on hold just attempting to schedule an appointment, only to be dismissed with a vague promise that 'someone will contact me'. After firmly insisting, I was grudgingly granted a phone consultation at 5pm. It's now 5:35pm, and no call has materialized. This level of unprofessionalism is nothing short of scandalous, and after reviewing other patients' experiences, I'm astounded this practice continues to operate. Anyone who cares about their wellbeing and values their time should absolutely avoid registering with this surgery.

Online consultation was a nightmare

There's been a slight enhancement in their customer service, yet they remain significantly inferior to other facilities. Their online consultation appears promising in concept, but falls short dramatically when addressing specific intricacies. They neglect to communicate that the consultation submission link operates within a restricted timeframe. Consequently, I invested considerable effort composing a comprehensive health narrative, only to discover the link was deactivated immediately upon completion. The experience was utterly exasperating, demonstrating remarkable unprofessionalism and injustice! This is particularly distressing for individuals battling physical challenges who struggle immensely just to navigate through daily existence!!!

Quick consultation with helpful staff

The service was impressively swift and efficient. I scheduled an online consultation, and within just a few hours, I received a phone call for my assessment. While the initial consultation was conducted remotely, they offered me the flexibility of an in-person follow-up later that same day. Although my in-person appointment started about 10 minutes behind schedule, the overall service quality remained high and the interaction was productive.

Endless registration nightmare at gp's office

If I could assign zero stars, I absolutely would - this general practice is hands-down the most incompetent medical facility I've ever encountered. I've attempted registration three separate times: twice submitting physical paperwork as they requested, and once completing an online application. Each time, they claimed the process would take 7 days, but after waiting that entire period, they repeatedly informed me that my application was mysteriously non-existent and they had no record of my submission. The staff are utterly ineffective and completely oblivious - there's clearly a fundamental breakdown either in management or reception, though I can't pinpoint exactly where the fault lies. Facilities like these perfectly illustrate why our NHS is in such a catastrophic state, with public funds being squandered on employees who seem more interested in collecting a paycheck than actually providing any meaningful patient care.

Prescription chaos after 30 years of frustration

After being a patient at this practice for three decades, I'm astounded they're still in business. Their negligence and poor service are appalling. The ultimate breaking point was when they arbitrarily removed my prescription without informing me, which resulted in a serious infection. The physicians barely glance at medical histories and routinely disregard specialist recommendations. Their online booking system is dysfunctional, with appointment slots disappearing quickly. They also rejected a shared care agreement, claiming ignorance about neurodivergent conditions, and I've previously experienced medical reports going missing. I've additionally encountered two separate instances of incorrect medication prescription. This healthcare provider is guaranteed to induce anxiety, as patients are constantly forced to rectify their careless errors.

Calls unanswered at 8am surgery

Extremely Inadequate Service and Persistent Problems at St Paul's Way Surgery I am compelled to share my profound frustration and dismay regarding the abysmal standard of service I have encountered at St Paul's Way Surgery—undoubtedly the most dismal NHS experience of my life. The surgery's management appears fundamentally flawed. For an extended period, I have struggled to obtain basic care and communication, with the existing system being utterly non-functional. Telephone attempts are consistently futile, regardless of the hour or frequency of calling. I contacted the surgery at 8am requesting a callback; no response materialized. Upon follow-up the next day, the situation remained unchanged. A subsequent in-person visit yielded promises of a doctor's callback, which predictably never occurred. Multiple eConsults and emails were submitted, yet no acknowledgment—not even a basic confirmation text or guidance—was received. This unacceptable situation has now persisted for over three weeks, with zero resolution, updates, or medical attention. The staff demonstrate a remarkable lack of respect, seemingly devoid of empathy or compassion for patients seeking assistance. Patients appear expected to grovel for appointments. The profound absence of professionalism, transparency, and communication is not merely disappointing—it is completely unacceptable. As a patient, pursuing basic medical support should not require constant pursuit or desperate pleading. This scenario is not only frustrating but emotionally distressing, particularly for individuals managing ongoing health challenges. I strongly urge management to critically examine this complaint and address the systemic failures clearly impacting numerous patients. People unquestionably deserve substantially better treatment.
