Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice facing significant operational challenges alongside pockets of positive care experiences. Appointment access remains the most consistent concern, with patients reporting difficulty reaching the practice by phone, extended waiting times for callbacks, and limited availability through both telephone and online booking systems. Phone system failures are particularly prevalent, with calls frequently disconnecting or going unanswered despite long waits. Reception experience varies considerably, with some patients praising compassionate and helpful staff while others describe dismissive or discourteous interactions. Communication breakdowns extend beyond initial contact, affecting prescription management, test result follow-up, and clarity around appointment details.

Where positive experiences emerge, they centre on supportive clinical care, with patients highlighting compassionate doctors and prompt medical assistance when appointments are secured. Several reviews commend the welcoming demeanor of reception staff and the professionalism of medical practitioners. However, these positive interactions are frequently overshadowed by the systemic barriers patients face in accessing care, with some noting a marked decline in service quality over recent years.

The practice appears to serve a large patient population, which staff acknowledge creates pressure on appointment availability and phone responsiveness. Patients express frustration that despite these constraints, basic operational systems remain dysfunctional, and some feel their concerns are not taken seriously or acted upon promptly. The overall picture suggests a practice struggling with capacity and organisation, where individual staff members may demonstrate genuine care but systemic issues prevent consistent, accessible service delivery.

Compassionate care from a trusted local practice

St Peter's has been my healthcare provider throughout my life, and I've never encountered any issues. While there can be waiting times, it's important to remember that each patient has their own unique circumstances. Most of my consultations are conducted via phone, which is incredibly convenient for me. The reception staff consistently demonstrate politeness and are always ready to assist. Truly, I have absolutely no complaints about their service.

Misleading communication wasted my time and health

When I relocated, I reached out to schedule a consultation regarding knee issues. During this initial contact, I was informed about the need to register with a local GP, but was told I could still attend my upcoming appointment at St Peter's. I made a follow-up call two weeks prior to confirm the details and verify my eligibility for the appointment. The staff reassured me that everything was arranged as planned. On the appointment day, after waiting a month and sacrificing a workday, I was suddenly notified that my appointment had been cancelled due to my new GP registration - a detail never previously mentioned to me. This experience not only squandered my valuable time but has also postponed addressing my medical concerns. Healthcare providers must prioritize transparent and accurate communication. Being given conflicting information on multiple occasions is unacceptable and undermines patient trust.

Terrible healthcare service beyond frustrating expectations

If a zero-star rating were possible, I'd choose it without hesitation. I've been with this practice for 14 years now. Regrettably, the past two years have seen a dramatic decline in GP accessibility and quality of care. The staff are clearly overwhelmed and stretched thin. Patients with genuine health concerns are essentially abandoned. This practice has completely deteriorated from its former standard. Rather than providing proper medical guidance, they've repeatedly advised me to return to A&E, where I'm expected to wait 6-8 hours, only to be told once more that my GP must refer me to a specialist - the exact same advice I received back in January for my persistent symptoms... 🤦‍♀️

Poor!

Terrible phone service and unreachable medical practice

I'm experiencing extreme frustration with this medical practice's phone system while attempting to schedule an appointment for my young child. Despite their stated opening time of 8:30 AM, the reception staff are consistently unresponsive, with calls either going unanswered or abruptly disconnecting, making it impossible to book the necessary medical consultation.

Dangerous delay in addressing my life-threatening allergy

I recently underwent a critical allergic incident (wheat-related exercise-triggered anaphylaxis) which required emergency medical treatment. The episode was terrifying, characterized by persistent respiratory distress and significant bodily swelling. Upon subsequently reaching out to my primary care practice with urgency, I was met with a cavalier "no concerns" stance and relegated to a 4–6 week standard appointment queue to "generally discuss allergies." This handling was callously indifferent, fundamentally unsafe, and demonstrated a profound lack of comprehension regarding my uncommon yet potentially fatal medical condition. My specific syndrome demands immediate professional attention, consistent medical oversight, and specialized referral to mitigate risks of subsequent emergency interventions. It is unacceptable that I must advocate so strenuously to have a life-threatening medical event acknowledged with appropriate seriousness.

Frustrating healthcare delays nearly cost me my health

I recently experienced a frightening cancer concern that could have been prevented if I had received the crucial appointment I required, rather than being dismissed with a menopause telephone consultation! The silver lining was that I was promptly scheduled for the essential scan and biopsy procedures. Ultimately, it was discovered that I had a hormone imbalance which would have been addressed earlier had I been able to see a doctor initially!

Lifesaver doctors rescued me from morning sickness

I contacted a delightful receptionist right before they were about to close and successfully arranged a physician consultation, who promptly provided a prescription for anti-nausea medication to address my severe pregnancy-related queasiness. I'm incredibly grateful, as I was feeling utterly terrible! The personnel were exceptionally supportive and welcoming :)

Terrible medical care that endangers patient health

I desperately wish I could award zero stars. Every single encounter only deteriorates my well-being instead of improving it. The reception and administrative staff have repeatedly lied directly to me, been incredibly rude, and made promises they never keep - like scheduling tests within a week which actually materialized three MONTHS later, and only after I filed a formal complaint. Despite my clear communication about my disability preventing phone interactions, they persistently call me year after year, showing absolute disregard. Even more alarming, a close friend of mine who has previously struggled with medication overdoses is continuously prescribed double her recommended medication dosage, which potentially endangers her life. This demonstrates a shocking level of medical negligence. My advice is crystal clear: if you genuinely care about your health and safety, steer completely clear of this place.

Worst medical service I've ever experienced

Absolutely appalling service deserves zero rating. Impossible to reach anyone by phone. I was forced to physically go to the clinic just to get a response. Upon arrival, the reception staff were completely unprofessional, chatting among themselves while incoming calls went unanswered. They instructed me to schedule my own blood test, which I did, only for the medical practice to arbitrarily cancel the appointment without any notification, resulting in a wasted journey to the hospital. I am in the process of switching healthcare providers due to this unacceptable treatment.

Terrible service and endless waiting at this practice

These medical professionals in Brighton are absolutely dreadful, making scheduling an appointment an incredibly frustrating experience. You're forced to endure a wait of more than a week just to be seen, which is completely unacceptable. I'm seriously considering switching to a different practice because I'm utterly fed up with their incompetence and lack of patient care. They should honestly be shut down, and I'm actively seeking a new medical surgery in the area.

Frustrating healthcare system fails patients miserably

The digital booking platform is perpetually blocked, claiming to be 'fully booked', while the phone-based scheduling service simply instructs you to retry later. It seems utterly pointless to be enrolled with a general practitioner when securing an appointment becomes an insurmountable challenge, effectively pushing patients towards alternative healthcare resources within the NHS.

Unhelpful medical centre fails patient completely

Upon my initial consultation at this medical center after relocating to the area, I arrived with a significant health concern impacting both my personal well-being and mental state. Despite carefully articulating my situation to the GP, the interaction, while polite, provided absolutely no meaningful assistance. Essentially, I was instructed to continue using the same ineffective over-the-counter medication I had already explained was not providing relief. I departed feeling completely unsupported, genuinely questioning the purpose of this medical facility. Update as of 09/02/25 I find myself once again struggling with this GP practice after having my request for a repeat prescription for asthma inhalers rejected not once, but twice! Apparently, I'm not "due" according to an arbitrarily determined date they've established. Seriously? So I'm supposed to simply wait and hope a potential asthma attack doesn't become life-threatening before being allowed to obtain my necessary medication? I implore the management to review these patient experiences and take meaningful action. Do you truly no longer care about patient welfare?

Unfair treatment leaves patient out in the cold

Attempting to wait indoors after a doctor's visit during chilly, gloomy evening hours is seemingly considered a 'health and safety concern' by the clinic staff. Despite being instructed to exit the premises as they were technically closed, I noticed through the window that a few patients were still waiting for their appointments. The thought of a vulnerable older family member being forced to stand outside in such harsh conditions is deeply troubling to me.

Terrible service that puts patients health at risk

The surgical practice is subpar. You'd receive superior care at the Accident and Emergency department. I underwent blood tests, and despite multiple markers being abnormal, no action was taken. Since the practice merged and expanded, scheduling an appointment has become impossible. Reaching them by phone is futile. The wait times are so extreme that patients could potentially expire before receiving medical attention.

Amazing healthcare service with friendly staff

I've visited this medical practice several times over the past twelve months, and each time I've been met with exceptional service. The front desk staff are cheerful and welcoming, always greeting patients with a smile. When I needed appointments for two separate health concerns, I was able to schedule them both on the same day I made the call. The general practitioners who examined me were equally compassionate and supportive. Without a doubt, this has been my most positive encounter with the National Health Service!
