Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice facing significant operational challenges alongside pockets of positive care experiences. Appointment access remains the most consistent concern, with patients reporting difficulty reaching the practice by phone, extended waiting times for callbacks, and limited availability through both telephone and online booking systems. Phone system failures are particularly prevalent, with calls frequently disconnecting or going unanswered despite long waits. Reception experience varies considerably, with some patients praising compassionate and helpful staff while others describe dismissive or discourteous interactions. Communication breakdowns extend beyond initial contact, affecting prescription management, test result follow-up, and clarity around appointment details.

Where positive experiences emerge, they centre on supportive clinical care, with patients highlighting compassionate doctors and prompt medical assistance when appointments are secured. Several reviews commend the welcoming demeanor of reception staff and the professionalism of medical practitioners. However, these positive interactions are frequently overshadowed by the systemic barriers patients face in accessing care, with some noting a marked decline in service quality over recent years.

The practice appears to serve a large patient population, which staff acknowledge creates pressure on appointment availability and phone responsiveness. Patients express frustration that despite these constraints, basic operational systems remain dysfunctional, and some feel their concerns are not taken seriously or acted upon promptly. The overall picture suggests a practice struggling with capacity and organisation, where individual staff members may demonstrate genuine care but systemic issues prevent consistent, accessible service delivery.

Worst medical service ever terrible communication

Scheduling an appointment here is an absolute ordeal. Their phone lines are perpetually jammed, and the service quality has plummeted dramatically. I recommend just showing up with a friend, as no one seems to be available to answer calls.

Great!

Quick and helpful medical care with minor hiccup

I recently had three visits to this medical practice: two for vaccinations, which were smoothly managed, and one doctor's consultation. When I called just past 8:30 on Monday morning, the line was initially engaged, but I eventually got through. I requested a callback, which happened quickly, and I secured a same-day appointment. The wait time was minimal, and the doctor was extremely supportive. The only reason I'm not awarding a perfect rating is due to a prescription issue. Despite this, I'm generally satisfied with the overall service provided.

Terrible service and unprofessional booking system

Scheduling an appointment here is a complete nightmare. I endured a week-long wait for an urgent medical need. Their attempt to contact me was laughably brief - just a 3-second call! After failing to reach me, they sent a misleading message claiming multiple call attempts, which was absolutely false. Typically, one would expect a more professional approach of waiting longer and making multiple connection attempts. The appointment system is dysfunctional, with excessively long queues and staff who appear completely swamped. I originally followed my previous doctor to this practice, but I'm now actively seeking another GP as soon as possible. The entire experience is unbearably stressful.

Terrible clinic turned away my sick grandson

I'm utterly appalled by their lack of compassion. They refused to accommodate my young grandson, claiming they were at maximum safe capacity. My daughter pleaded with them after he was turned away from nursery earlier. I'm certain that if Dr. Sharp were still employed there, he would have made an exception and seen us!

Renovation fails at basic customer communication skills

Major overhaul of the facility – and they still can't manage basic phone communication? You'd assume they'd invest a bit in that, right? Their phone line lacks even a basic hold system. Instead, it just disconnects you when they're swamped (which is constantly) Fine – no worries; they've launched an online booking platform. Except it only displays "We are currently not accepting online requests, please telephone for an appointment" when you attempt to use it. The whole situation feels surreal. Though that could just be the result of my current illness.

Terrible healthcare system fails vulnerable patient completely

I'm currently battling numerous health challenges, having dealt with medical complications since birth, now approaching 44 years old. Recently, I've been experiencing significant health issues, shuttling between my GP and hospital. After relocating, I've been abruptly removed from my medical catchment area without a doctor, despite being extremely unwell and under immense stress. The potential long-term nature of my condition makes this treatment absolutely unacceptable. It feels like I've been reduced from a human being to merely a statistic. I'm furious about how I've been handled in this situation and I intend to pursue this matter further. There's a complete absence of compassionate care towards me. Has anyone else noticed that none of these reviews ever receive a response?

Responsive healthcare that truly cares for patients

I experienced a quick resolution to my problem, though I had to try three times to secure a callback. Fortunately, I did receive a return call within 40 minutes, and the staff were incredibly understanding and compassionate. Later that day, a sympathetic doctor consulted with me by phone and promptly sent my prescription directly to the reception. The reception team was welcoming, and I felt immense relief when collecting my medication. The entire process was streamlined and professional. I'm truly grateful for the support I received today.

Worst pharmacy experience ever pharmacy nightmare

The level of service here is absolutely appalling and disrespectful! I submitted my prescription request over two weeks ago and never received any notification about its arrival at the pharmacy. After a week, I repeatedly visited the pharmacy to inquire about my medications, and each time they claimed they weren't ready. Despite my constant follow-ups, nothing materialized. I eventually contacted my doctor's office, where a receptionist initially seemed helpful and informed me the meds were already at the pharmacy. However, when I mentioned that the pharmacy staff still claimed otherwise, the receptionist became confrontational and accused me of shouting, when in fact she was the one who escalated the tone of our conversation. This entire experience is completely unacceptable, and it's clear that the computerized prescription system is fundamentally broken. They desperately need to improve their staff training and administrative processes. The whole situation is utterly ridiculous and a total embarrassment to their healthcare service!

Impossible to get help at this frustrating surgery

Securing an appointment at this medical practice has become an absolute nightmare. My daughter and I have been attempting to schedule consultations for over two months, and what started as non-urgent issues are now becoming critical. I'm desperate to consult with a doctor about my medication and blood test results, but booking a consultation seems impossible. The online scheduling platform consistently shows zero availability, and since I'm not experiencing an emergency, I can't access the same-day morning slots. When I tried discussing my concerns with the receptionist, they seemed completely disinterested and dismissive. The entire situation is utterly unacceptable.

Broken healthcare system fails patients with symptom treatment

Allopathic medicine focuses on treating symptoms rather than addressing the root cause of an illness. It's like taking your car to a mechanic who simply turns off the warning light without fixing the underlying problem, which will continue to worsen until a catastrophic breakdown occurs. Then, the GP would claim the issue is unrelated. There's a need for more support programs to help patients. From my personal experience and insights from a family member in medicine, there seems to be little interest in natural healing methods. While I believe healthcare professionals try their best, longer appointment times would be beneficial. I recognize that GPs are overworked, and mental health issues are prevalent in Brighton. I hope better solutions can be found for those struggling with mental health challenges. My own experience in a care home for four months during my childhood was far from positive. The Health and Social Care Sector appears interconnected and problematic. Ultimately, what can one do? It's a disheartening situation that reflects the harsh realities of life.

Worst healthcare experience ever frustrating and ridiculous

You're left hanging on the phone for more than two minutes, subjected to a monotonous general practitioner who discourages direct contact and suggests consulting alternative sources. Subsequently, you endure an endless queue, with staff insisting your issue can be resolved online! Good heavens, what an abysmal and shameful service. I would be utterly mortified to be associated with this practice. They compel you to attend appointments and then promptly demand your rating 😆 they are completely oblivious to the deplorable treatment of their patients.

Dismissive nurse made me feel unheard and frustrated

I recently encountered a deeply unsettling situation at the medical center. Although my initial interactions with the doctor and physiotherapist regarding my persistent six-month back pain were positive, my subsequent encounter with a nurse felt like an attempt to invalidate my genuine physical suffering. I've been experiencing two lumps on my back, now diagnosed as a trapped nerve and Lipoma. I detailed my previous medical investigations, including blood tests and ultrasounds, and expressed my openness to an X-ray as a potential next step in understanding my condition. The nurse summarily dismissed the X-ray suggestion without proposing an alternative, instead insinuating that my pain was primarily psychological. She probed my mental health, to which I responded by highlighting my professional role as a support worker - a position that surely requires mental stability. Regarding the lump I wanted examined, she claimed to feel nothing, attributing it to my body's structure. Surprisingly, upon reviewing my consultation notes, I discovered she had actually noted something she didn't verbally acknowledge. She proceeded to scrutinize my medical history, questioning past issues like ear pain and suggesting I might be prone to excessive worry. Initially, I found her approach amusing, but quickly realized the consultation was unproductive. I promptly requested an alternative doctor. While initially told seeing my previous doctor was impossible, she eventually committed to arranging a consultation and scheduled a blood test for inflammation. The entire interaction left me bewildered, and I explicitly requested to avoid future appointments with this particular nurse. The subsequent phone 'apology' felt more like a defensive explanation, with the nurse attempting to rationalize her approach by discussing the complexities of pain perception. While I articulated my dissatisfaction, I remain concerned that less assertive patients might be easily persuaded to doubt the legitimacy of their physical experiences. Consequently, I am now actively seeking a healthcare professional who can approach my medical concerns with genuine empathy, professional diligence, and a holistic understanding of my health situation.

Terrible healthcare experience with unhelpful medical staff

Scheduling an appointment seems utterly impossible. Constantly dismissed and brushed aside. Treated condescendingly during phone calls, with no genuine attempt to hear my concerns. Zero assistance provided. I experienced a severe skin condition. Initially, they dismissed my evidence by criticizing the photo quality. Then they callously instructed me to diagnose the issue independently. Can you believe a medical professional would suggest such a thing? When the itching is so intense it's causing bruising and bleeding? While I understand the NHS faces challenges, it's difficult to maintain compassion for healthcare providers who appear completely unwilling to offer assistance. What if this were happening to someone in their own family? How would they feel if placed in such a desperate situation?
