Terrible service destroying faith in local healthcare

I'd rate them even lower if possible. Since expanding into minor surgical procedures like Cataract treatments, they've completely neglected their core GP responsibilities. Every single one of my last four phone consultations has been abruptly cancelled. The wait time for a simple telephone appointment is now an astronomical month. They currently have a hospital letter regarding an urgent medical condition requiring medication, but after three weeks, no doctor has even reviewed it, and they can't provide any timeline for when someone might. While I'm a passionate advocate for our NHS, poorly managed practices like this are precisely what tarnish public perception of our healthcare system and potentially pave the way for privatization, ultimately harming everyone. Steer clear of this practice - they're clearly more interested in profiting from private surgical services than functioning as a proper GP surgery.

Terrible service and complete waste of time

I'm constantly frustrated by the impossibility of securing an appointment. Initially promised a callback, I was left waiting, and after three hours of hearing nothing, I rang again. The staff claimed they'd attempted to contact me, which was completely untrue - I'd had my phone with me the entire time. Needing medical attention for an infected cut, I consulted the pharmacist who suggested I could send a photo, but the receptionist adamantly insisted I visit a walk-in centre instead. The entire ordeal resulted in me wasting an entire day, costing me £180 in lost work time. I'm utterly bewildered by the purpose of being registered with a medical practice when obtaining an appointment takes 6-8 weeks, and the alternative is being redirected to a walk-in centre.

Terrible service from unhelpful medical receptionist

My encounter with a male receptionist this afternoon was extremely frustrating. He was completely unhelpful when I tried to obtain a repeat prescription for a critical medication that I had ordered online 8 days prior but had not yet reached the pharmacy. Despite explaining the serious side effects of not taking my medication, he dismissively told me to call 111. When I did so, they informed me the surgery had 'a duty of care' and advised me to contact them again. Upon reconnecting, I encountered the same receptionist who remained obstinate, refusing to assist me, blocking my attempts to speak with a Manager, G.P., or medication team, and abruptly ending the call! I was forced to call 111 again, who apologized for his behavior. They suggested I call back after 6:30 p.m., which was nonsensical while the surgery was still open. This receptionist desperately needs comprehensive training in customer service and basic professional courtesy.

Disappointing service from once reliable healthcare provider

Previously, this practice had been exceptional. Now, it's completely unacceptable. They were completely oblivious to my medical history and previous treatments. The scheduling was so disorganized that they were uncertain whether my appointment was in-person or via telephone. As a result, I'm now facing a minimum five-week wait before I can consult a doctor about a treatment I'm already familiar with. The entire situation is utterly ridiculous!!!! I strongly recommend steering clear of this practice at all costs.

Decades of exceptional care at st stephens gate

I've been a patient at St Stephens Gate Medical Practice for nearly four decades, witnessing its journey from a small surgery on Unthank Road to its current medical centre location. Throughout this time, I've been fortunate to have two exceptional doctors managing my healthcare. Dr Gall cared for me until his retirement, and now Dr Keep provides outstanding medical attention that I cannot commend highly enough. The reception staff have consistently been supportive, as has the prescriptions team. The surgery itself maintains an immaculate and well-organized environment. I would never consider seeking medical care elsewhere. I'm deeply appreciative of all staff members who are working under tremendous strain and delivering their best during the covid pandemic in which they are actively involved. Compared to other medical practices, we are truly privileged to have such a remarkable surgery and dedicated team. My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who works here for their tremendous dedication and hard work.

When I attempted to schedule a consultation with my previous physician, I was informed that the earliest available phone appointment would be on February 7th, which is three weeks away. This isn't an isolated incident; it now consistently takes between three to five weeks just to receive a return call from a doctor.

The entire surgical team performed flawlessly, ensuring a painless procedure with excellent post-operative care. Terrible service and declining patient care quality

What was once a top-notch medical practice has now deteriorated significantly, using Covid as a convenient pretext to implement GP lifestyle improvements at patients' expense. The service has become utterly inadequate. Securing appointments is a challenge, with remote consultations increasingly becoming the standard, and even those are hard to obtain. Similar to numerous businesses adopting work-from-home policies, overall efficiency has nosedived, leaving taxpayers, customers, and patients bearing the brunt of this decline. Through personal connections with several general practitioners, I can confidently state that they are not overburdened, actually working considerably fewer hours compared to previous years. The excessively high salaries and pension packages they receive for diminished workloads are nothing short of scandalous.

Utterly disastrous. Previously excellent, it has now devolved into a total farce. Medical professionals display a shocking lack of concern. They minimize patients' issues and consistently demonstrate an indifferent attitude. One can't help but question the motivations behind their career choice in healthcare.
