Long waits despite having a set appointment time

Every time I attend an appointment, I find myself waiting considerably longer than expected before being seen. I would suggest reconsidering the practice of allocating specific appointment times when these cannot be reliably maintained. This has caused me significant inconvenience, resulting in me being late to another important commitment I needed to attend afterwards. If my appointment was scheduled for 2:20, it seems unreasonable to be kept waiting until 3 o'clock when I had another engagement at that time. The practice would benefit from improving their scheduling system. Additionally, I've noticed that emergency appointments appear to be offered to multiple patients simultaneously, which suggests the overall organisation and management of the appointment system could be enhanced.

The entire team, from those at the front desk through to the clinical staff, have consistently demonstrated genuine courtesy and warmth. My visits, along with those of my family members, have been characterised by a positive atmosphere and a high standard of care throughout. Much appreciated.

Staff kept passing me around without follow-up

I'm in my second trimester of pregnancy and have been deeply disappointed by the standard of care I've received at this practice. On multiple occasions when I've contacted them, I've had to repeatedly mention my pregnancy status, which has caused me considerable concern. I've been experiencing significant tiredness, shortness of breath and general unwellness for an extended period, yet rather than receiving appropriate support, I've felt overlooked and shuffled between different staff members without any meaningful follow-up care. There have been particular instances where I've found interactions unhelpful. I've noticed a pattern of uncertainty in consultations, with callbacks needed to discuss matters with colleagues. On one occasion, I was asked about providing samples without having received prior instructions to do so, and was subsequently contacted via text asking me to collect the necessary forms. When I attended the practice, there was no record of this on their system. I returned the following day, but staff remained unclear about the situation, even after I showed them the messages I'd received. I had already completed the samples and was reluctant to repeat them, yet the practice appeared disorganised and unable to resolve the confusion. This experience has been draining and anxiety-inducing, particularly given my pregnancy. This isn't an isolated incident either. Previously, when I brought my child in with digestive complaints and a head injury, the examination felt cursory and my concerns were not taken seriously. The breakdown in communication, lack of consistency, and overall quality of care at this practice feels unacceptable to me. I'm seriously contemplating switching to a different GP practice because I no longer feel confident in the level of care and support being provided.

I'm very happy with the care I'm receiving since joining this medical practice. It's a relief to finally feel properly supported and listened to, and to receive the help I needed after feeling neglected by my previous healthcare provider. I have been attending this practice for a considerable time. The quality of services appears to be influenced by the level of funding available to the organisation. Additionally, when issues arise, there seems to be a tendency to reframe patient circumstances in ways that feel defensive rather than collaborative. The focus sometimes appears to be on risk management rather than on resolving health concerns or providing appropriate ongoing care. From my perspective, this approach has made it difficult for the practice to support patient wellbeing effectively. I have also experienced concerns regarding how patient information is handled, which appears to occur with some frequency. These concerns include instances where information has been shared with unintended recipients, discrepancies between what patients report and how it is documented, and situations where sensitive information has been disclosed without adequate anonymisation. I am choosing not to provide specific examples in order to protect my privacy. I am rating this review highly primarily to ensure it remains visible.

I have been attending this clinic for many years. During a recent visit, I saw a clinician who was excellent, giving my concerns careful and compassionate attention and providing helpful support with all of my issues. Appointments are typically available without excessive waiting times. I would happily recommend this practice.

Reception delayed medical exemption form for months

I registered with this practice because of its strong reputation in the area, but I have been disappointed by several aspects of my experience. I require a medical exemption certificate for prescriptions due to an ongoing health condition, which I only learned about through my pharmacist. I submitted a request to complete the necessary paperwork around six months ago and have been waiting for the certificate ever since, with little support from the practice. The most positive aspect has been one particular clinician who has consistently demonstrated kindness and willingness to help. This clinician even asked reception to resubmit my form a couple of months ago, but reception indicated the form had already been sent and declined to process it again. I remain without my exemption and continue to pay for prescriptions unnecessarily. I also had a frustrating appointment with another clinician at the surgery who seemed unfamiliar with my situation and provided guidance that I felt was unhelpful and inaccurate. It is disheartening how challenging it can be to find a practice that meets expectations. I am grateful to have at least one clinician I can rely on for proper support.

This is the best GP practice I have attended. Throughout my time as a patient, I have consulted with various clinicians, including temporary staff, and have consistently found them to be approachable and supportive. The reception staff member has also been particularly welcoming and pleasant.

Morning calls get same-day appointments easily

I have been attending this practice since relocating to the area more than a decade ago. Both my partner and I have consistently received outstanding care throughout this entire period. When contacting the practice during standard business hours, particularly in the morning upon opening, appointments on the same day are typically available (this has been our regular experience). The clinical staff, healthcare professionals, administrative personnel, and support team demonstrate considerable expertise and maintain high professional standards. Referral processes are handled efficiently. Ongoing care and monitoring are well managed. At a time when NHS services face significant pressures and many patients encounter difficulties accessing the care they require, we consider ourselves fortunate to be registered with this practice—the quality of care provided is genuinely exceptional.
