I have been attending the Watford Road branch for more than a year and have consistently found the service provided by this surgery to be excellent. The initial registration process was straightforward, the clinical staff are of high quality, and the reception team member who assisted me was particularly helpful and attentive. She consistently made an effort to listen carefully, provide clear explanations, and resolve any concerns I raised. There are occasions when calling to arrange an appointment during morning hours involves some waiting time, however I have always been able to secure an appointment slot or alternatively arrange a telephone consultation with a GP. I am very grateful for the care received.

The vast majority of clinical and administrative staff at this practice are remarkably supportive and consistently make extra efforts to prioritise patient care and address concerns thoroughly. The management team in particular has demonstrated exceptional capability in coordinating my son's appointments and referrals, displaying both dependability and compassion throughout. However, I have experienced ongoing challenges with a member of the morning reception team who declined to identify themselves. On multiple occasions, this individual has displayed an unhelpful demeanor, appeared to lack competence in their role, and shown reluctance to cooperate. Given my own background in general practice administration, I have found this approach particularly concerning and have consequently chosen to avoid engaging with this person on matters going forward.

Consultation cut short without being heard
Absolutely terrible experience. A clinician with a distinctive appearance provided one of the most dismissive consultations I have ever experienced. I felt treated as though my concerns were unfounded or exaggerated. Following an injury from an animal abroad in a region where a particular infectious disease is prevalent, I mentioned relevant international health guidance, but my concerns were disregarded and met with a lack of empathy. I approached the appointment respectfully and simply asked to be heard regarding my worries, yet I felt judged and invalidated. The serious nature of my health concern was not taken seriously, and I was not given the opportunity to fully express myself. The clinician referenced their years of experience in a way that suggested my input was unwelcome. I remained calm throughout, and the entire appointment lasted approximately two minutes with no real discussion. It was simply a brief, dismissive interaction. The clinician stated I showed no signs of illness, though I understood the condition in question could present without obvious symptoms and carries significant risk if it develops. When I explained why I had not sought treatment in the country where the incident occurred, citing travel constraints, I was told this was not how things are handled locally. The manner in which I was spoken to felt wholly inappropriate for a healthcare setting.

Rushed out the door with unhelpful advice
One of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. I was seen for a painful, red eye—a condition I have a history with. I explained my symptoms clearly and asked multiple times what I should do. I was told to go to the emergency eye hospital, saying it's a 24/7 service and I could go that day. I travelled all the way to the emergency eye hospital in Central London, only to be told they were full and not accepting patients after 7 PM—even though they close at 8:30 PM. I was turned away and told to come back the next day. So not only did I not receive treatment, but I also wasted time and money (£12 travel costs) for absolutely nothing. It felt like I was being rushed out the door because my appointment was close to the end of the clinic session. The attitude I received was dismissive, unhelpful, and lacking basic care or empathy. I didn't feel properly listened to or given adequate medical guidance. Frankly, I'm left questioning how seriously patients are taken here. If you're in pain and expect proper support—don't count on it. Absolutely unacceptable.

The team members lack warmth and come across as dismissive. The front desk staff do not seem to listen attentively and frequently interrupt conversations, preventing people from expressing themselves fully. I have found recent interactions with front desk staff to be quite distressing, as they appear unwelcoming and difficult to engage with. Although the front desk approach can feel unfriendly, there is considerable pressure on patients to maintain politeness, as responding in kind risks removal from the patient list. I have also observed front desk staff speaking in a curt manner to those who appear vulnerable, which I find concerning. This experience falls well below satisfactory. It has been genuinely disappointing.

The reception staff appeared unmotivated in their roles. I felt they were not forthcoming with accurate information during my interactions with them. I registered as a temporary patient approximately six weeks ago and was informed the registration process would be completed within a few days. However, after three weeks had passed, I discovered the paperwork had not been submitted. When I reminded them of my limited timeframe for being in the area, I received responses that suggested frustration rather than helpfulness, with comments implying they had already explained things when no clear explanation had been provided. I found the overall experience quite disappointing and would have preferred more diligent service. While I am generally reluctant to leave critical feedback about the NHS, I felt the level of care and attention fell short of what patients should reasonably expect. I hope others have better experiences than I did.

Reception staff handled pressure with genuine warmth and care
I would like to offer positive feedback regarding two members of the reception team at the practice. They are consistently welcoming, friendly, accommodating, and professional in their interactions, whether communicating by phone or in person. Given the demanding nature of the practice, I am regularly impressed by how effectively they manage their workload under considerable pressure. Their competent approach to addressing my concerns is always handled with care. I consistently feel respected and treated with dignity throughout my interactions. While appointments at preferred times are not always immediately available, the team makes genuine efforts to accommodate requests whenever feasible. They consistently present the best options for managing my healthcare needs and are responsive when I express preferences regarding which healthcare professional I would like to consult. I recognise the significant operational challenges the practice currently faces due to increased local demand and population growth. I believe the dedication and attentiveness of these team members in going the extra distance to meet patient needs is commendable. Several years ago, during a difficult personal period, both staff members demonstrated genuine compassion and understanding. They exemplify the standard of care and professionalism that healthcare settings should aspire to achieve. Their commitment and professional conduct are evident in every interaction. I have considerable respect for their contributions to the practice.
