Ear infection adventure at medical practice woes

I recently sought medical attention at The Bay Medical Practice for an ear infection that I had been managing on my own for weeks. My partner's concerns about pus, an odd smell, and hearing loss finally convinced me to see a professional. As someone who rarely visits doctors, I found the entire experience quite surprising. The initial challenge was scheduling an appointment. Phone communication proved impossible, forcing me to physically visit the surgery early one morning. While I was fortunate to manage this, the process seemed unnecessarily complicated, especially for those who might be unwell or less mobile. The actual consultation was extremely brief - barely five minutes long. When I attempted to have a mole examined during the same visit, I was abruptly told there was no time. To add insult to injury, as I was leaving, the doctor casually mentioned ear syringing services in Ryde and Newport - at an astronomical cost of £50 per ear! £100 for a simple procedure?! After contributing to the NHS for four decades, this feels utterly ridiculous. The entire experience left me feeling frustrated and somewhat disappointed with the healthcare system.

How to crush someone's spirits even further! The reception staff's phone manner was absolutely atrocious! They showed zero compassion or care for anyone's emotional state. That phone conversation left me feeling deeply distressed and furious. I'm definitely switching to a different GP practice without hesitation. Good bye and good riddance!

Frustrating medical journey with unanswered health concerns

Experiencing respiratory distress and persistent coughing, I consulted the asthma nurse who was incredibly supportive. I underwent a chest x-ray which showed no immediate concerns, and during my consultation on July 4th, the doctor recommended a cat scan. Despite this, I've heard nothing further. After completing three rounds each of antibiotics and steroids, I'm still struggling with breathing difficulties. I initially called the surgery at 9:50 on Friday, with the promise of a callback, but by 3pm no contact was made. When I followed up, I was informed no telephone consultations were available and my case had been redirected to Shanklin. Upon contacting Shanklin, I learned they had reached out to the doctor that morning, but he had not responded. I remain in limbo, waiting for any resolution to my ongoing health concerns.

Terrible customer service ruins medical clinic experience

The most discourteous front desk personnel I've ever come across! It was early morning, so there was no excuse for their poor attitude. I haven't visited a medical office since pre-pandemic times, and I'm grateful I don't require frequent appointments because these individuals are capable of completely destroying any positive momentum for the day. Wouldn't it be possible to find compassionate, empathetic staff who could handle this role? When patients are unwell, is it truly challenging to offer a warm smile and a few comforting words?
