Phone appointment ran significantly late and unhelpful

The telephone appointment ran significantly behind schedule, which forced me to cancel an arranged counselling session. Despite receiving abnormal results that had been flagged, I was told that no further investigation or action would be taken based solely on my age. The only outcome from the appointment was notification that correspondence would be sent to a specialist for their opinion. I was also advised that certain necessary tests had not been carried out, and that these would not be repeated, with my age cited as the reason. The appointment felt unproductive and appeared to represent an inefficient use of both my time and the practice's resources.

There appears to be a change in the reception team, and when a family member called following advice from another healthcare provider, the staff member placed the call on hold and disconnected mid-conversation. Cancellation link didn't register properly

A pleasant practice with friendly clinical staff and helpful reception team. However, after I cancelled an appointment using the online link, I received a phone call regarding a follow-up appointment where I was told I needed to attend. When I explained that I had already cancelled through the link, I was sent a follow-up email reminding me to cancel any future appointments. When I called reception to clarify that I had indeed used the cancellation link, it became apparent that there may be issues with how the online cancellation system functions.

Reception staff were friendly and genuinely listened

I recently registered with this practice following a house move and I can genuinely say it's the finest I've attended. Every member of staff I've interacted with at the practice has consistently demonstrated friendliness, compassion and expertise. The administrative team are always welcoming both face-to-face and when calling. The clinicians gave me adequate time to express my concerns, and I felt my points were given proper consideration. I've had some procedures I was quite apprehensive about and had postponed for some time, but the care I received from the team gave me the reassurance needed to finally proceed and I felt completely supported throughout. I haven't always had positive encounters with medical services previously, and I'm truly appreciative that my outlook has been able to shift as a result of the exceptional standard of care shown by all staff members. I'm very grateful.

I underwent a significant surgical procedure in early 2023 related to a metabolic condition. Since that time, I have been attending the practice on a monthly basis and have found the service to be of a high standard throughout. The team across all areas, from those at reception through to clinical staff, have been consistently professional and helpful. While there can occasionally be delays when calling during busy periods, this is fairly typical of most healthcare settings. Regarding appointment waiting times, having previously lived in a major urban area, the timeframes here would be considered quite favourable by comparison. Overall, I have had a very positive experience with the practice.

Long waits for routine appointments made me leave

I recently switched to a different practice after spending approximately 9 years at my previous surgery, often with frustration. The primary concern for me has been appointment availability. I observed that scheduling routine appointments typically involved waiting periods of 2-4 weeks, with some instances extending to 6 weeks or beyond. While same-day telephone appointments are available, those seeking pre-booked slots face notably lengthy waiting times. The clinical staff at the previous practice displayed varying interpersonal qualities. Some were welcoming, approachable and empathetic, whilst others came across as detached and appeared to be under considerable pressure. Patients do have the option to request alternative practitioners, though this choice tends to further extend waiting times. I also experienced difficulties when attempting to process a holiday insurance claim following an illness. Both the practice and administrative team, along with the insurance provider, made the process more complicated by not readily supplying the documentation I required. This created considerable frustration and required multiple rounds of communication. Whilst this incident was significant, the appointment waiting times remained my primary motivation for leaving. I have observed that the practice appears to be engaging with recent feedback on this platform, and their responses warrant consideration. Following their reply, I note they respond promptly here, though I would have appreciated similar efficiency with pre-booked appointment availability. For my circumstances, I felt the balance between pre-scheduled and same-day telephone appointments was not appropriate, particularly given workplace constraints around short-notice availability. I have therefore decided to explore alternative practices in the local area, which may also help ease capacity pressures elsewhere. I have since departed the practice and do not intend to pursue further contact. Whilst I recognise the significant pressures facing general practice, I felt I had given my previous surgery adequate time and opportunity to address my concerns.

Staff went the extra mile for accessibility

This is quite possibly one of the finest GP surgeries in the country. The staff - both clinical and administrative - are all warm and thoughtful. They are all willing to go above and beyond in order to provide accommodations for my child with additional needs and look after them and the rest of our family with genuine care and attentiveness. Lost medical records caused breathing concerns

I relocated to this practice following the closure of my previous surgery and have encountered difficulties with my medical records not being transferred properly. I experience breathing difficulties at times and rely on specific medications that were previously prescribed to me. I have documentation from my former practice confirming my need for these treatments, but this information does not appear to be reflected in my current records. I am extremely frustrated with this situation and have decided to lodge a formal complaint as I feel this matter requires proper resolution.
