Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice with significant operational and communication challenges that substantially outweigh positive experiences. Reception and appointment access present persistent difficulties, with patients reporting prolonged phone wait times, dismissive staff attitudes, and complex booking processes that create barriers to care. The e-consult platform, while praised by some for responsiveness, is frequently criticised as dysfunctional and poorly designed, with patients caught in frustrating loops between online systems and phone contact. Prescription management and referral processing show concerning delays and gaps, with some patients waiting weeks for responses or experiencing repeated failures to forward requests to pharmacies. Communication breakdowns extend to clinical consultations, where patients describe rushed interactions, lack of continuity with medical records, and dismissive responses to health concerns.

In contrast, medical professionals themselves receive consistent recognition for clinical competence and compassion, with nursing staff particularly praised for supportive care. Several patients highlight positive experiences with specific doctors and reception staff members who demonstrate genuine professionalism and empathy. The practice has also shown capacity for efficient service delivery when functioning well, with some patients reporting same-day appointments and swift referral processing. However, these positive experiences appear inconsistent and dependent on individual staff members rather than reflecting systematic practice standards. The overall pattern suggests a practice struggling with capacity management, administrative coordination, and consistency in patient-facing service delivery.

Quick Turnaround at Burney Street Practice

I previously shared a highly critical assessment of The Burney Street Practice and believe it's important to provide an updated perspective when circumstances change. My latest interaction with the practice has been entirely satisfactory. After reaching out by phone, I was promptly contacted and offered a same-day appointment that very afternoon. The referral documentation arrived swiftly, and I was seen with remarkable efficiency. I sincerely hope this experience reflects meaningful progress and genuine improvements since my previous frustrating encounter with the practice. I am profoundly appreciative of the outstanding care and responsiveness I experienced during this recent interaction.

Quick Response from Caring GP Team

I have absolutely no complaints about Burney Street Practice. While the E Consult process can be a bit lengthy, a GP invariably reaches out to me within a day or two, occasionally even within hours of my submission. They've been proactive in offering same-day appointments when clinically necessary and have promptly prescribed medication when required. The reception team is wonderfully welcoming and personable. Although I encountered a challenging situation on one specific occasion that was initially distressing, it was addressed and resolved with remarkable efficiency. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the exceptional standard of care provided by both the medical professionals and support staff.

Burney Street Clinic: Total Disaster for Patients

The administrative team was problematic before, particularly at Burney street, but now most of the skilled physicians have departed. This facility is absolutely dreadful. It's astonishing that they continue to operate. Anyone concerned about their well-being should seek out a superior medical practice. They're careless with examinations, dispensing incorrect medications, and their document processing is excruciatingly slow. The entire experience is utterly unacceptable.

Dangerous medical errors and poor communication

This medical practice represents the absolute pinnacle of professional ineptitude. Their inability to accurately review reports from other healthcare providers leads to incorrect medication prescriptions. Attempting to communicate concerns with their staff is futile, as they demonstrate complete disinterest and lack comprehension of the issues being discussed.

Injured and Ignored by Dr. Davies

Absolutely worthless and inept. I requested an urgent consultation or at least a callback from a physician due to severe rib injuries requiring appropriate pain medication. Absolutely no response! All because I had a scheduled phone consultation the following day regarding unrelated test results, as dictated by the on-duty doctor Miren Davies.

Pregnancy Worries Dismissed at Local Practice

Dreadful administrative experience, with the actual doctors being quite compassionate. I encountered significant challenges trying to secure an appointment about my pregnancy concerns and was redirected to an emergency physician with no subsequent follow-up. Tragically, I subsequently lost my baby. While I managed to arrange blood tests, my results consultation was scheduled a month later via telephone, where the hurried doctor provided unclear information. Shortly after that call, I miscarried. Obtaining a face-to-face consultation felt like an impossible feat, and when I finally secured one to discuss my fertility, I was met with another frustrating obstacle. Upon arrival, the extremely discourteous receptionist informed me my appointment was supposedly booked in error, forcing me to reschedule for two weeks later. The overall experience was deeply distressing and felt completely inadequate.

Closed at 12:40 Despite Listed Hours

I stopped by the medical office at 12:40 to inquire about my prescription review, only to be greeted by a receptionist repeatedly saying "sorry we're closed sorry we're closed". This is particularly frustrating, especially considering their own Google listing clearly states: Thursday 7 am–5:30 pm Previously, I called to follow up on my prescription and was left hanging on hold for 25 minutes before the call abruptly disconnected. I've had enough and will definitely be seeking out a more professional and efficient medical practice. This current one is simply unacceptable.

Awful receptionist ruined my healthcare experience

The doctors themselves are acceptable, but there's a particularly hostile front desk staff member who consistently obstructs patients from scheduling consultations via telephone (a service I've previously utilized). If possible, seek medical care elsewhere where you can expect to be treated with dignity and empathy.

Friendly nurse Caroline made screening easy

I scheduled my cervical screening well in advance of my visit. Upon arrival, the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming. Although the appointment started slightly behind schedule (the only minor drawback preventing a perfect rating), I was attended to by an exceptional nurse named Caroline, who provided a comprehensive and compassionate explanation of the procedure. I felt compelled to share this positive experience because I was surprised by the numerous negative reviews about this medical practice and wanted to offer a balanced perspective.

Rude Receptionist Dismissed My Urgent Health Concerns

After being loyal to this medical practice for over a decade and having built a fragile trust—something challenging for me due to past medical traumas—a single encounter with an unprofessional, dismissive receptionist has completely shattered my confidence. I submitted an e-consult on Monday and received a callback from Tashea about a mid-April appointment. When I inquired whether the doctors had reviewed my medical records, she bluntly responded, "I don't know." I explained my critical health status of heart failure and compromised immunity, and she callously asked "why." Despite detailing my symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and mixed phlegm, she claimed I only mentioned a cough and remained inflexible, making me feel like an inconvenience. Frustrated, I cancelled and secured a consultant appointment the next day, ultimately spending valuable time obtaining antibiotics for a potential chest infection that should have been manageable through my GP. My health remains precarious, with oxygen saturations dropping to 81/82 while sleeping and 90/96 when awake, causing significant sleep disruption. Fortunately, my pharmacist suggested seeking emergency care if my condition persists. This entire situation could have been avoided if the receptionist had demonstrated basic medical professionalism and empathy.

Rude Receptionist Ruined My Whole Experience

I endured a grueling wait of more than 60 minutes, positioned as the 9th caller in the queue, only to have TASH completely disregard my concerns and verbally assault me. It seemed like her supervisors were nearby, and she was intentionally portraying me as the problematic party. My sole objective was to obtain clear direction on my next steps. It's infuriating that our tax contributions fund such incompetent front desk staff. Do they simply hire anyone without basic interpersonal skills, while deserving, courteous individuals remain unemployed and struggling? This medical practice is absolutely deplorable and deserves to be shut down. Tash, without question, should be terminated from her position.

Dismissive Doctor Gave Me Eight Minutes

After a four-day ordeal of persistent fever, sore throat, cough, and vomiting, I attempted to secure an in-person consultation. The GP who phoned me was dismissive and unhelpful, suggesting I would need a three-week-long sore throat to qualify for a blood test. Despite my concerns about potential serious conditions, she casually remarked that even if meningitis was a possibility, I should head to A&E if symptoms worsen. Her approach was patronizing and arrogant, showing complete disregard for my health. The consultation was equally frustrating. Despite completing a comprehensive eConsult questionnaire, the doctor seemed completely unaware of my medical context and rudely questioned why I was even there. They failed to retrieve my previous hospital Urgent Care records from over ten days ago, relating to the same health issue. When I tried to explain my multiple health concerns, I was curtly told to book another appointment - a process that is notoriously difficult. This approach seems counterproductive, as interconnected health issues should logically be addressed in a single session. The practice's reception staff are generally unwelcoming, with the notable exception of Will, who stands out as genuinely polite and professional.

Receptionist Helped Me During Kids' Vaccine Appointment

I feel compelled to write this review because it seems only dissatisfied patients typically share their experiences. As a parent of two young daughters, I consistently receive appointments within 24 hours. The medical staff and front desk personnel are consistently incredibly supportive and go above and beyond to assist me, especially when I'm attending alone. During today's visit, both girls needed vaccinations, and the receptionist proactively offered assistance. She entered the room, comforted and held one of my daughters, making the entire process seamless and stress-free. My advice: simply follow the straightforward online e-consult process when you need medical advice, rather than calling the reception for an appointment. It's truly that uncomplicated. From my perspective, this practice deserves a perfect rating!

Terrible GP with zero help

Completely aligned with the other 1-star feedback - this general practitioner is utterly useless and fails to meet any basic healthcare needs. The sole guidance provided by this clearly unqualified physician was to suggest we visit the emergency department if concerned, effectively admitting their own professional inadequacy. The National Health Service would undoubtedly benefit from removing such ineffective practitioners from their roster. Additionally, the appointment scheduling process is a nightmare, with excessive wait times that persist even when patients arrive precisely at their designated time slot.

Unhelpful GP Told Us to Go to A&E

Steer clear of this medical practice if possible. Unlike our regular healthcare provider, we were directed here for my infant's dermatological issue. Initially, we endured a suffocating 40-minute wait in the reception area. The general practitioner's sole recommendation was to take our baby to the emergency room for a pediatric consultation and reassurance. I'm bewildered by the GP's apparent lack of assistance, instead redirecting us to overwhelm emergency services. Surprisingly, spending hours in the A&E department seems more productive than this disappointing clinic appointment.
