Phone queue made appointment impossible

The service here was disappointing. I felt the clinical staff were not thorough in their approach, as they seemed to rush through consultations and recommend medications without adequate discussion about whether they were necessary for my situation. The appointment system has also changed to a telephone-based arrangement, requiring me to call at a specific time on a particular day. Unfortunately, when I attempted to do this, I was unable to get through despite calling promptly and waiting for an extended period.

Felt genuinely listened to during appointment

I was seen by a clinician and honestly couldn't praise them enough. They were so thorough and did all examinations necessary. They were also extremely easy to speak to and made me feel so comfortable. I haven't stopped singing their praises since my appointment. They were also so reassuring and made sure that I was happy at the end of my appointment. Working as a healthcare professional myself I was so impressed with them. Such a kind and caring professional. Thank you so much!

Reception staff could have handled this better

I had scheduled an in-person appointment but upon arriving at reception and checking in, I was called by a staff member who conducted the consultation over the phone while I remained in the waiting area rather than meeting me in person. This felt inefficient and discourteous, as I could have simply stayed home for a telephone consultation instead. The face-to-face appointment had been recommended by the practice.

Couldn't get medication or doctor appointments

I have been attending this surgery for nearly nine years and I am extremely disappointed with the service. The experience has been frustrating, particularly regarding difficulties obtaining medications and challenges accessing appointments with clinical staff unless meeting certain age criteria, which I find unacceptable.

Repeat prescription delays caused weeks of frustration

I have no concerns about the nursing team, reception staff or clinical staff, as my interactions with them have been positive. However, I experienced significant difficulties with the repeat prescription service. Over a three-week period, I attempted multiple times to reorder my regular medication for a long-standing condition. Despite several conversations with reception staff, I was informed that no request had been submitted to the practice. I was also expecting a call from the in-house pharmacy on a Friday that did not materialise. Eventually, my prescription was processed today, but the process required numerous phone calls spread across three weeks, which felt unnecessarily prolonged for a routine repeat order.

Painful needle insertion left me with lasting nerve damage

My appointment at a local health centre involved a blood draw procedure in the treatment room. I was expecting to see a particular nurse who had previously provided excellent care, always handling blood samples with gentleness and precision. However, the staff member who attended appeared to be someone different, an older individual wearing glasses. During the procedure, I experienced significant difficulties. The needle used seemed to be an incorrect size, and the insertion was attempted in what felt like the wrong location, going both too shallow and too deep. When I expressed that this was causing me pain, the response I received did not feel particularly sympathetic or caring. The procedure continued without successfully obtaining a blood sample. Following this appointment, I developed ongoing pain and numbness in my hand. I contacted my GP the next day, who advised me to take paracetamol and suggested that if symptoms worsened, I should attend accident and emergency. The symptoms did worsen, with sensations similar to electric shocks and progressive weakness in my fingers and hand. This has significantly impacted my daily life, as I am now unable to perform routine activities such as cooking and household tasks. The pain extends from my wrist through several fingers, and I am experiencing increased anxiety and depression due to concerns about my hand's ability to function normally. I have lost confidence in the care I received and worry about the potential risks of encountering staff who may not be adequately trained or prepared for their role.

Friendly nurse made the difference

The nursing staff member at the practice is one of the kindest and most friendly people you could encounter. They are a real asset to the practice and provide wonderful care. However, other members of the clinical team came across as dismissive and unhelpful during my visits.

Telephone staff really tried their hardest

Absolutely brilliant, I was able to get an appointment very quickly. The telephone staff are lovely and they really do their best to accommodate appointment requests. It's worth noting that any delays in scheduling aren't down to them, as they work hard to find available slots. That's just been my experience.

I've attended several medical practices, and this one stands out as exceptional. I genuinely struggle to find anything negative to mention, as the experience has consistently been excellent. Securing appointments on the day is straightforward, and getting through to the surgery is hassle-free. I would definitely recommend this practice to others.

Reception staff were genuinely accommodating and helpful

I recently switched to a new GP practice and I am very pleased with this decision. Since becoming a patient there, the team has provided excellent support throughout. The reception staff demonstrated great helpfulness and accommodation, and I was able to see a clinician who showed genuine compassion and understanding, arranging a prompt appointment for me. During my appointment with the nursing staff, they were exceptionally supportive, kind and attentive. They took time to listen to my concerns, addressed everything thoroughly and helped to reassure me. Thank you!

I've recently found that this medical practice has performed really well overall. With the exception of one occasion—a frustrating experience attempting to request medications through the prescription service with what I perceived as unhelpful staff—I've generally found the reception team to be welcoming and supportive. My healthcare provider has also been dependable and constructive. I would suggest this practice to others.
