Rude receptionist destroyed my health centre experience

The receptionist named Shaz displayed an appalling level of unprofessionalism. Her demeanor was so aggressive that she triggered significant anxiety during our deeply unpleasant telephone interaction. She demonstrated zero interest in hearing my concerns, consistently interrupting and talking over me in a condescending manner that was incredibly distressing. The encounter was so stressful that I experienced actual heart palpitations. Her dismissive response was to suggest I find another Health Centre if I was dissatisfied - which would be preferable, but my limited geographical options make this challenging. My advice: if Shaz is handling incoming calls, request immediate transfer to another staff member to preserve your mental well-being. Her communication skills are so fundamentally poor that she should be removed from front desk and telephone duties entirely. Shaz is systematically undermining the centre's reputation and causing genuine emotional distress to patients seeking support.

Thank you. When I call the medical practice, I'm greeted by an automated system that tells me I'm 10th in line, and I've already wasted 4 minutes listening to a broadcast. Then I wait through 10 more customers, with no idea how long it'll take. Eventually, an unfriendly receptionist tells me to call back later or tomorrow, making me feel like I'm talking to a machine. And when I order my medication by phone, the prescription is often incomplete or incorrect. Can anyone at this surgery use some common sense? There's never a courteous response.

The customer service at this establishment is abysmal. The receptionist and practice manager treat patients like they're worthless, displaying zero compassion or professionalism. The way the supposed manager spoke to me on the phone was so degrading and inappropriate that I want documentation of our conversation to prove how utterly unacceptable their conduct was.

Scheduling an appointment requires enduring a 30-minute hold with an endless loop of messaging about Patient Online Access, despite the fact that this Surgery doesn't actually support web-based booking. They seem intent on creating barriers to seeing a doctor, which significantly increases the risk of incorrect medical assessment. Multiple times, I've resorted to paying £75 for a quick 15-minute same-day consultation with a private GP. This might work for those with financial means, but honestly, the service quality at Clapton Surgery has dramatically declined from excellent in 2017 to utterly poor in 2022, with absolutely no indication of potential improvement. Moreover, the in-house Pharmacist consistently fails to review notes on repeat prescription requests, which is incredibly exasperating - one would expect a Pharmacist to demonstrate a basic level of professional thoroughness.

Where have all the physicians disappeared to? A single doctor is on duty, stubbornly sticking to telephone consultations only. To schedule an appointment, you must call at 8:30am, but the phone line remains busy for 10 minutes before reaching the switchboard, by which time all available slots have vanished. Attempting again at 3:45pm yields the same frustrating result - 11th in the queue, and once more, no appointments remain. I'm seriously considering switching medical practices to find somewhere that actually provides accessible healthcare professionals.

The personnel here are discourteous and primarily present only when they've finished gossiping away from the reception desk. Getting an actual doctor's appointment appears to be completely unfeasible, with patients being relegated to telephone consultations with an unidentified physician scheduled two weeks in advance, with no guarantee of a subsequent in-person meeting. What sort of abysmal service standard is this? Has the National Health Service deteriorated to such a deplorable level? Or is this dysfunction unique to this specific medical practice? 15/06/22 update: I engaged in a discussion with the practice manager and received assurances that the problematic front desk staff conduct will be addressed. I appreciate their responsiveness to this review and their commitment to enhancing the overall quality of patient care.
