Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience with significant challenges in core service areas. Phone communication and booking access emerge as persistent problems, with patients reporting difficulty reaching the surgery, lengthy wait times on calls, frequent disconnections, and appointment availability constraints. Reception experience is frequently cited as problematic, with accounts of discourteous, dismissive, and disorganised staff interactions. Communication failures extend to medication management and referral processes, where patients report unclear instructions and lack of coordination between the practice and pharmacies. The triage system receives mixed responses, with some patients finding it effective while others describe it as ineffective and frustrating.

In contrast, positive feedback highlights compassionate medical professionals, supportive doctors, and efficient prescription services when accessed. Some patients report seamless appointment booking through online systems and prompt clinical care. However, these positive experiences appear less frequent than negative ones, and several patients note inconsistency in service quality across different staff members and visits.

Broader concerns include practice environment issues, with reports of inadequate facilities and poor building maintenance. Patients also describe feeling deprioritised, with some expressing concerns about access to care and the practice's capacity to manage demand. The overall pattern suggests systemic organisational challenges affecting appointment access, communication reliability, and reception courtesy, though individual clinical encounters sometimes receive praise.

Worst medical practice ever experienced in braintree

If I could award no rating at all, I absolutely would. My elderly father, who has multiple health complications, is registered with this practice. While the administrative staff have been pleasant and supportive, the medical service itself is shockingly subpar. Securing an appointment seems like an insurmountable challenge, and their online booking system is practically non-functional. I'm currently associated with a surgery in Braintree that's considered terrible, yet it's a beacon of excellence compared to Elizabeth Courtauld!

Pharmacy nightmare leaves patient without critical anxiety medication

I attempted to collect my anxiety medication from Boots, only to be informed that no prescription was sent from my surgery. Calling the surgery, they dismissively redirected me to the pharmacy, claiming they had transferred the responsibility. However, the pharmacist could find no record in their system. I felt completely abandoned and unsupported, which triggered a panic attack due to the lack of medication. Fortunately, NHS 111 provided a contact in Sudbury. The Lloyds pharmacy in Sainsbury's was incredibly understanding and compassionate, truly grasping the distress of being left without critical medication. Their kindness was immensely appreciated. Subsequently, Courthauld claimed to have contacted me, yet I've received no communication. I'm utterly bewildered about who is responsible for ensuring I receive the essential medication I depend on.

Frustrating customer service nightmare from hell

Dialed repeatedly, 65 attempts before connecting, landed at queue spot 25... Waited 20 minutes, inched up to position 4... Suddenly disconnected! Rejoined the line, back to position 24... Spent another 30 minutes on hold... Only to discover all appointments are gone... Utterly disbelieving!

Fantastic surgery with caring staff and helpful reception

This surgical practice is truly exceptional. The front desk staff consistently demonstrate warmth, empathy, and attentiveness, always striving to provide the best service possible. Every time I've required an appointment, my experience has been outstanding. Jo was incredibly supportive on Thursday and is just a delightful person. Much appreciation.

Worst healthcare experience ever frustrating and unprofessional

A malfunctioning piece within a broken mechanism. Endure a 45-minute wait in line, only to reach a receptionist who declares no available appointments, suggesting a return attempt the next day. Utterly ineffective. Seeking medical attention becomes a game of chance, risking critical conditions remaining unaddressed for extended periods. The current approach is fundamentally flawed and demands comprehensive restructuring.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service

Deducting stars for this terrible establishment. Their phone system is completely dysfunctional, and even if you miraculously get through, there are zero available appointments. It's hardly worth the effort, given the dismissive and unprofessional doctors who provide misleading details and leave patients without any meaningful resolution.

Boots saves the day from pharmacy prescription chaos

A heartfelt appreciation goes out to the wonderful receptionist who stepped in and resolved my son's prescription issue for the second time, highlighting the ongoing shortcomings of Well Pharmacy. We've made the decision to switch to Boots, hoping this will put an end to the previous complications. Sincere gratitude once again to the kind staff member who went above and beyond to help us.

Terrible service that could have cost me my life

Contacting this medical practice by phone is nearly impossible. When you finally get through, either all appointments are booked or the non-medical receptionist dismisses your urgent health concern as non-emergent, advising you to call back later. I ultimately had to visit the emergency department just in time! This morning, after making 60 separate attempts to call, I managed to connect and was initially 25th in the queue. After a long wait, I reached position 4 when the call abruptly disconnected. Frustrated, I redialed and found myself back at position 25, then slowly crawled to position 8 before the call dropped again. How many times must I endure this ridiculous queuing system just to schedule a simple appointment? To make matters worse, patients are prohibited from walking in directly. When I tried, I was instructed to go outside and phone the surgery from there. Are they serious? This entire process is completely absurd.

Terrible healthcare service with zero communication

Attempting to secure a medical consultation has been an exercise in futility. After multiple attempts, I managed to connect with the office Friday morning around 8:50am, where I was promised a return call today. However, it's now 2:10 in the afternoon, and I've heard absolutely nothing. At this point, it's clear I won't be able to see a physician or obtain my necessary medication before the upcoming bank holiday weekend, leaving me completely frustrated and without medical support.

Heartless doctor devastates vulnerable elderly patient

Deducting stars for this terrible experience. My elderly grandmother reached out seeking guidance and support regarding a health issue, only to be met with an incredibly insensitive and dismissive response from a physician. The doctor's cruel words were so hurtful that she was reduced to tears and ultimately forced to end the call. If possible, I would award negative ratings to highlight the complete absence of empathy and professional conduct. I sincerely hope this doctor's appalling behavior is not representative of the entire medical practice.

Heartless medical response left me abandoned and suffering

Deducting stars for this appalling experience. I am utterly dismayed by the complete absence of empathy, care, or guidance when I desperately called on July 19th between 11:30 and 12 in the morning seeking urgent medical assistance. Having suffered a broken ankle after falling in my garden, I painfully crawled 30 yards back to my house in scorching heat, my ankle grotesquely swollen and unstable. After dialing 999, I found myself alone, terrified of losing consciousness, and enduring excruciating pain. The ambulance service coldly informed me of a four-hour wait. When I explained my critical situation to the receptionist, I pleaded for any medical professional to provide even basic advice or direction, only to be met with indifference.

Mostly great care, but one nurse ruined everything

I want to emphasize that I've generally had a positive experience with this medical facility, and the staff over the years have been wonderful, which is why I initially rated them 5 stars. However, my recent encounter with a mental health nurse was deeply distressing. This professional seemed entirely unsuited to working with patients struggling with mental health issues. After our interaction, I was emotionally devastated and remained in a terrible state throughout the entire day. Given my existing anxiety and difficulties with social interactions, I already find communication challenging. When I spoke loudly, which is typical for me due to my hearing loss, the nurse responded aggressively and harshly. I attempted to apologize, but was coldly told not to apologize, just to change my behavior. Despite everyone else being understanding about my volume, this nurse was exceptionally insensitive. Her lack of empathy and poor interpersonal skills are unacceptable, especially when working with vulnerable patients. One careless word can send someone like me spiraling into emotional turmoil, which is exactly what happened. I will absolutely never see this nurse again, and ironically, my visit intended to address my anxiety ended up dramatically increasing it.
