Their appointment system and online consultation fall short of ensuring quality healthcare. Initially, I was assured a doctor would call after explaining my issue, but instead received a text message requiring me to answer questions within tight character constraints. I felt crucial details were being omitted, yet hoped this was merely an initial step leading to a proper follow-up call. Disappointingly, I only received another dismissive message that precluded any further communication or response. It seems we should fundamentally be entitled to a genuine dialogue with our general practitioner, as a meaningful diagnosis and treatment cannot be effectively achieved through impersonal text messages. This experience epitomizes the current deteriorating state of the NHS. Consequently, I plan to transfer to a different GP surgery, seeking one that prioritizes face-to-face consultations and more personalized patient care.

Terrible customer service from an unhelpful receptionist

The front desk staff was incredibly unhelpful and confrontational. Instead of assisting us, she continually emphasized our perceived mistakes and created unnecessary obstacles when we simply needed support. It's baffling how some receptionists behave as if they're above providing basic customer service. Their role should be to help, not to complicate matters or be dismissive. Clearly, she's in the wrong profession.

I've been a patient at Western College Surgery for over three decades, since its inception. In the past, it was a top-notch medical practice with an exceptional doctor. Sadly, my recent interactions have been far from satisfactory. After receiving a message requesting a blood test, I attempted to schedule an appointment by phone. The receptionist claimed there was no record in their system and needed to consult the IT department before responding. Subsequently, I received another call seeking additional information about the original message, yet I was still unable to book an appointment or arrange the blood test. In the weeks following, there has been complete silence from the practice, leaving me feeling ignored and undervalued. What happened to the principle of putting patients first? The current standard of service is a stark contrast to the excellent care this surgery once provided, and I am thoroughly disappointed by this decline.

I am truly grateful for Dr Baker's exceptional and swift response to my medical situation. I secured a same-day, in-person consultation to discuss my abdominal discomfort. Dr Baker promptly arranged blood tests that very afternoon. By 6:45 pm, he personally called me with the test results, recommending immediate admission to the surgical assessment unit at BRI, which he had already coordinated. Around midnight, a CT scan confirmed appendicitis, and I subsequently underwent an appendectomy. After a brief hospital stay, I was discharged and able to recover at home under NHS care. Despite the immense challenges facing the healthcare system, this experience demonstrated how efficiently and effectively healthcare can be delivered when professionals are dedicated. My heartfelt appreciation goes to Dr Baker and the entire medical team for their remarkable care and quick action.

Completely ineffective service. For eight months, they were unable to diagnose my medical concern, and their prescription management was consistently poor. When I attempted to resolve the repeat prescription problem, I was left waiting on hold for nearly three-quarters of an hour, only to be told to try calling back the following day. Absolutely ridiculous.
