I attended the out of hours service yesterday evening with my daughter. Prior to the appointment, I received a call from reception staff who were exceptionally pleasant and welcoming. They demonstrated genuine care by inquiring about my daughter's day and, having understood she was arriving from school, thoughtfully provided refreshments including water and biscuits when they noticed she was feeling peckish. The visit took place around 8:30pm. The security personnel on duty were equally friendly and engaging throughout our time there. The clinician we consulted provided excellent care and attention. It's easy to focus on complaints, but on this occasion the entire experience was outstanding, and my daughter received the necessary medication the same evening.

Clinical staff return calls within the same day. Routine appointments do not involve lengthy waiting periods. During a visit to our daughter's practice while staying with her throughout the pandemic, we became aware that our own surgery had significant shortcomings. This prompted us to switch to a different practice upon our return. The change has been remarkable; the reception team greets you warmly, listens attentively, and provides genuine assistance. The clinical staff, despite their demanding schedules, make time to engage with patients, address concerns thoughtfully, and offer reassurance. The appointment system also includes a callback option that actually functions as intended. We would like to extend our gratitude to two members of staff in particular. When we experienced difficulties accessing our online medication ordering system and exhausted our own troubleshooting attempts, we contacted the practice. One team member invited us to bring our laptop in, and both staff members dedicated over an hour to resolving the issue, ensuring we could successfully navigate the login and logout processes. Their patience, expertise, and willingness to go above and beyond despite their own workload was truly impressive. We have found the overall service to be exceptional and are very pleased with our decision to transfer our care to this practice.

I visited the surgery at approximately midday to book an appointment for a routine health check. I had anticipated needing to wait several days given that it was not urgent. The receptionist informed me that a clinician could see me almost immediately! I had completed my visit within ten minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly this was arranged. I have been registered with this practice for many years, having joined during the earlier period of the practice's history after relocating to the area in the 1980s. I have consistently been satisfied with the standard of care received throughout my time as a patient.

Hard to get face to face appointments now

I have consistently enjoyed my experience as a patient at this practice and have not encountered any significant problems. However, following the pandemic, the surgery has not resumed its previous approach to in-person consultations, and obtaining a face-to-face appointment has become more challenging, which is my preferred method of care. This is the sole reason I have not awarded the highest rating. Should they return to offering these appointments more readily, they would have received full marks. That said, every healthcare practice has scope for ongoing development and refinement. I consistently find the team to be courteous and supportive. I commend their continued efforts, as I recognise that working in frontline healthcare roles can be demanding and challenging at times.

There are recurring issues with information flow, particularly when correspondence from specialist services fails to arrive or is not actioned promptly, leading to delays in implementing recommended care pathways.

Very straightforward:- I called my GP practice to request an appointment. The receptionist I spoke with was lovely and helpful. She scheduled me in with one of the medical practitioners at the surgery, who demonstrated diligence, kindness and excellent care, as do all the doctors at my practice.
