Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals significant operational challenges centred on appointment access and communication. The most persistent concern across reviews is the difficulty in reaching the practice by phone, with callers reporting perpetually busy lines, extended queue waits, frequent disconnections, and callback systems that fail to materialise. Many patients describe attempting to book appointments at designated times only to be told slots are unavailable, or being directed to call back at alternative times with no guarantee of success. Online booking options are reported as either unavailable or requiring prior phone contact to activate, creating circular barriers to access. Reception experience is mixed, with some patients praising staff warmth and helpfulness, whilst others report discourtesy and dismissiveness when seeking appointments.

Despite these systemic access issues, clinical care receives consistent positive recognition. Patients frequently commend individual doctors for professional competence, compassionate listening, and thorough investigation of health concerns. Several reviews highlight exceptional care during serious health episodes, with specific doctors noted for their attentiveness and clinical skill. Reception staff are similarly praised in many accounts for warmth and supportiveness. Digital booking improvements through NHS app functionality are acknowledged as beneficial where accessible. The practice appears to deliver quality care once patients secure appointments, but the booking experience itself remains a substantial barrier that undermines overall satisfaction and accessibility for many seeking medical attention.

Bad!

Terrible service from my local medical practice

I attempted to schedule a doctor's appointment at 8am, which is something I seldom do. After waiting on hold for half an hour, I was informed that all slots had been filled and was instructed to retry at 2pm. This is absolutely unacceptable. The service is so poor that I wish I could rate it below the lowest possible rating.

Terrible service and unhelpful medical staff

Scheduling a consultation here is a nightmare. Even when attempting to call during their designated hours, the line frequently drops without explanation. During my interaction with a physician, they appeared dismissive and impatient, showing little interest in addressing my concerns.

Terrible grange medical service leaves patients frustrated

Hello to all Grange medical members. I want to share my frustrating experience with the centre's abysmal service level. Despite the advertised phone lines opening at 8:00am, this is far from reality. When I selected the correct option to book an appointment, the line immediately disconnected. Trying again at 8:15am, I eventually connected and was 20th in the queue. Just as I reached first position, the line cut off completely. Upon redialing, I found myself at number 7 in the queue. After finally getting through, I was informed no doctor appointments were available. Following my complaint, they reluctantly offered a telephone consultation. I'm convinced a private healthcare provider would handle calls more professionally. While the national health service is fundamentally excellent, they seem to take their responsibilities for granted, operating without performance incentives. Who is actually monitoring and evaluating their service quality? I urge all members to share both positive and negative experiences from the lockdown period. By collectively documenting these issues, we might motivate GP practices to genuinely value their patients. I implore everyone: unite, take action, write to your local MP, contact the Medical Council. Doing nothing will only allow these problems to deteriorate further.

Frustrating healthcare service with endless phone struggles

I've endured over an hour waiting in line, only to be disconnected repeatedly. Are they deliberately cutting off calls during peak times? I initially had evidence of more than 40 attempts just to get a connection. Frequently, the line is simply busy. I was stuck at queue position 1 for a quarter of an hour before giving up and hanging up. The hospital was bewildered that I hadn't received a back scan, given my intense pain and symptoms. After being emergency transported to Coventry, with multiple A&E Nuneaton visits during three months of excruciating pain, the doctor finally decided it might be time for a back scan. To their astonishment, the scan revealed serious issues. Imagine that. Following an unusual call from a doctor hesitant to disclose results until certain details were verified. (Protecting themselves or someone else, perhaps?) I'm now struggling to extend my work sick note and obtain stronger medication, but I can't even get through on the phone! The receptionists have consistently been courteous and helpful, and most doctors I've seen over the years have been excellent. Recently, the new staff I've encountered seem like cost-cutting automatons - if I can even reach them. The practice is currently failing, and leadership needs to address these issues immediately. I'm tired of hearing COVID-related excuses. Adapt, take action, and you might start receiving more positive feedback.

Dangerous medical practice with zero patient care skills

A completely incompetent medical practice that fails at basic healthcare tasks like referrals, prescriptions, and even simple blood test paperwork. The physicians demonstrate a shocking lack of patient care, and I am committed to filing a comprehensive complaint with NHS England regarding these reckless and potentially hazardous medical practices that urgently require official scrutiny. They have consistently created prolonged waiting periods and subsequently refused to acknowledge any accountability for their errors. They absolutely must perform their fundamental duties correctly from the start, or they might as well shut down entirely. Steer clear of this practice without hesitation.

Exceptional care from compassionate medical team

Since 2016 until 2020, I was a patient at this medical practice, and throughout my time there, I consistently experienced exceptional care. The physicians always dedicated ample time to discuss my health, thoroughly explaining recommended treatments and prescribed medications. Even during the challenging lockdown period, the front desk staff remained incredibly supportive and welcoming. I genuinely regret having to leave their care when I relocated. Jennie...

Frustrating healthcare with unhelpful and unwelcoming staff

A bureaucratic medical practice that treats patients as a nuisance. Simply attempting to call results in an exhaustive list of prohibitions, followed by a maze of menu options, often ending in an abrupt disconnection! And to add insult to injury, the doors remain firmly locked!

Endless calls, zero hope for medical help

After numerous attempts, I finally connected after 52 tries, only to be informed that no appointments remain. I had postponed my call from the previous day, heeding the website's advice about avoiding Monday's peak hours, attempting to be considerate. Despite my efforts, I'm still without an appointment. The entire situation is a complete mockery. Absurd. Nonsensical.

Frustrating appointment system fails patients miserably

Absolutely terrible service. I've been trying to schedule an appointment for days without success. Their booking system seems designed to frustrate patients - apparently you can only pre-book afternoon slots if you call in the morning. What should be a straightforward process feels like an exhausting struggle. I'm thoroughly disheartened by this experience.

Terrible doctors surgery with impossible appointment system

I have never encountered such a terrible medical practice before. Their appointment booking system is completely dysfunctional - the phone lines are perpetually busy, and I've spent 7 weeks attempting to schedule an appointment! As a new patient in this area, I deeply regret choosing this surgery. The centre manager seems utterly ineffective and consistently unavailable, and desperately needs to address these systemic issues. They exclusively accept written complaints, and during my visit, I witnessed two frustrated patients leaving after being told they couldn't secure an appointment, having already struggled to reach anyone by phone. I was forced to take a day off work just trying to book a simple health consultation. This isn't a luxury service - it's basic healthcare! The fact that doctors being on holiday should somehow excuse their poor management is ridiculous. My health should be their priority. I strongly urge them to implement immediate and significant improvements!!!!!
