Lifesaving switch from disappointing practice to excellence

After being a loyal patient at Silver dale medical practice for three decades, I became deeply frustrated waiting 5 weeks for a telephone consultation about a letter related to my recent cancer treatment. Additionally, I struggled to obtain a referral for Lymphedema for over 3 weeks, and the surgery always seemed deserted. I contacted the Lakes medical centre to inquire about GP appointment wait times and consultation options. The receptionist was incredibly helpful, and I registered with them immediately. This has been the most beneficial decision I've made. I'm thoroughly delighted with the service and care, and today the pharmacy even called me about my inhalers, providing valuable advice on proper usage. While the NHS often faces criticism, I must say changing my GP has been an excellent choice. Kudos to the Lakes medical centre.

Terrible service from rude and incompetent receptionists

The receptionists are a complete embarrassment, with Tracy being especially problematic. They consistently fail to comprehend basic inquiries and provide incorrect guidance, which potentially postpones critical medication orders. They preach about respect while simultaneously exhibiting the most appalling behavior, and it's baffling how they were ever hired for a customer service position. They are entirely unsuitable for a front-facing role, particularly in an environment serving individuals who might struggle with English communication. Their attitude is utterly unacceptable, especially in a medical setting where patients are inherently vulnerable. If they are so dissatisfied with their work, they should seek alternative employment rather than displaying such an unprofessional demeanor. Their conduct is shameful and inexcusable.

Great medical care with minor parking challenge

I was taken aback by some negative feedback, as my experience has been entirely positive since becoming a patient in 2015. While booking a same-day appointment can involve multiple phone calls and waiting, this is standard across most medical practices. Whenever urgent care has been necessary, I've always managed to secure a timely slot. The Online Consult feature is excellent for non-urgent matters. In my experience, I've consistently received a response within 48 hours, typically resulting in either phone consultations or in-person appointments. Without exception, every staff member I've encountered has been courteous and supportive. Despite managing several complex medical conditions over recent years, the surgery's team has been exceptionally accommodating and committed to my care. The sole drawback is limited on-site parking, though additional street parking is available in nearby residential areas. Fortunately, since I live just a short walk away, I usually choose to walk to my appointments.

Although they're often swamped, if you have an urgent medical need, you can reach out starting at 8am and they'll go above and beyond to assist you. They're incredibly efficient with prescription renewals, and the staff are warm and accommodating. The doctors are genuinely interested in your well-being, whether you're meeting in person or consulting remotely. I've consistently had a positive experience and have absolutely no intention of seeking care elsewhere!

Compassionate care for my elderly mother's health

I'm incredibly grateful for the exceptional care my elderly mother receives at this GP practice over the past two years! The receptionists are genuinely compassionate towards their older patients, with Sarah - the Care Navigator - being particularly outstanding. She personally accompanied my 85-year-old mother to the hospital after a fall when I was unable to, and her kindness is something I can never fully repay. She's truly an incredible professional and an invaluable member of this medical team. The doctors provide my mother with the most attentive and considerate care imaginable. They are always responsive and supportive, never dismissing her when she's feeling distressed or confused. Having worked within the NHS myself, I recognize how rare and special this level of service is, as not every medical practice maintains such high standards. Terrible medical centre with unhelpful staff

Customer service is absolutely terrible. I attempted to schedule an appointment by phone, but the staff was completely unhelpful, insisting I could only book at 8am on the same day. When I tried to arrange a booking for another day that week, they flatly rejected my requests. I inquired about alternative booking methods like online scheduling, and they dismissively directed me to their website, claiming they were swamped and telling me to follow instructions. However, upon visiting the site, I discovered no online booking was actually possible. My subsequent call revealed they could only provide an appointment a month from now. The service is utterly unacceptable. I strongly recommend finding a different medical center that actually values patient convenience.

I've been visiting this medical practice with my family for two and a half years, and I'm taken aback by the negative feedback. Contrary to some reviews, I find no issues with the doctors or appointment scheduling. While calling in the morning can be tedious, like most medical practices, you can typically secure an appointment. The online booking system is particularly convenient - I simply log in and select my preferred healthcare provider at a time that suits me. Just grab the online appointment form from reception, and you're set. Regarding the general practitioners, I've consistently found them to be thoroughly professional and exceptionally personable. The sole drawback of this practice is the parking situation. The small car park lacks parent and child spaces, which became problematic when I struggled to open my car door to place my baby in his car seat. This is my only real frustration, though street parking is available as an alternative.

Hello, I am composing this message with assistance from my sister. Living with Alzheimer's has also afflicted me with a severe speech impediment. My sister called to help me secure an appointment. I was incredibly grateful for her support. When speaking with the receptionist, I shared details about my condition and explained my difficulty using the booking system. She was remarkably compassionate and patient. I typically experience significant anxiety when encountering unfamiliar people. I consulted with a female physician (whose name escapes me, and I apologize). This doctor was absolutely exceptional. She allowed me ample time to describe my medical concerns. Her examination was comprehensive and detailed. Most importantly, she treated me with genuine dignity and respect, making me feel valued as an individual rather than just another patient.
