Patient Experience Summary

Feedback on the practice reflects a deeply mixed experience, with significant challenges in appointment access and reception communication contrasting sharply with praise for individual clinical practitioners and nursing staff. Patients consistently report severe difficulties reaching the practice by phone, with extended waiting times of 30 minutes to over two hours being common, alongside complaints about dropped calls and unresponsive booking systems. The Dr IQ online platform has been frequently criticized as non-functional and unhelpful.

Reception staff interactions present a polarized picture: while several staff members including Rachel, Chloe, Nurgess, and others have received exceptional praise for warmth, professionalism, and responsiveness, others have been described as discourteous, dismissive, and unhelpful. Administrative errors in appointment scheduling and recording are recurring issues, particularly affecting postpartum patients and those booking vaccinations, with patients reporting being given incorrect appointment times or turned away due to staff errors. Conversely, clinical care from individual practitioners such as Dr Rao, Dr Jawad, and nursing staff including Nurse Hameed has been consistently commended for compassion, professionalism, and thorough patient attention.

Social prescribing support has also received positive feedback. Concerns about referral processing delays and follow-up procedures have been raised, along with isolated reports regarding hygiene practices and appointment cancellations without adequate notification. The practice's ability to provide responsive support services appears inconsistent, with some patients experiencing excellent coordination while others face repeated obstacles in accessing basic services.

Endless queue frustration mars good service

After enduring the frustration of waiting in line for over an hour on several occasions, only to be unceremoniously disconnected upon reaching the front, one can't help but question the efficiency of the system. The struggle to secure an appointment feels like an unnecessary hurdle in an otherwise satisfactory experience. While the subsequent aspects of the service meet expectations, the initial booking process leaves much to be desired, casting a shadow over an otherwise commendable operation.

Endless wait and dismissive doctor frustrates patient

I had an utterly disappointing visit to this medical practice. After enduring a grueling 75-minute wait, I was finally seen by the physician. Upon expressing my frustration, she dismissively inquired why I had arrived early. When I clarified that I had been waiting well beyond my scheduled appointment time, her response was shockingly nonchalant, suggesting that such delays were commonplace due to the practice's busy nature. It's astounding how disconnected these healthcare providers seem from the realities of their patients' lives. I had to take valuable time off work, only to be met with such disregard for my schedule. The doctor's inability to manage time effectively is truly appalling. If the practice cannot adhere to their own appointment system, why bother scheduling patients at all? We, as patients, have responsibilities and commitments outside of these medical visits. It's incredibly disrespectful to expect us to simply accept such significant delays without any acknowledgment or apology. The complete lack of consideration for patients' time and circumstances is both unprofessional and unacceptable.

Frustrating postpartum care at Loxford Practice

My postpartum journey has been marred by what appears to be a series of administrative blunders in scheduling appointments. As a first-time parent, I had hoped for a smooth and supportive experience during this critical period. Instead, I found myself navigating a maze of confusion and distress. Our troubles began when we attempted to book the recommended 8-week checkups and vaccination for our newborn. Despite clear instructions from the midwife, the receptionist at Loxford Practice scheduled us for a 6-week appointment. When I sought clarification about the vaccination timing, I was erroneously assured it would be fine. Upon arrival, we were dismayed to learn that our baby couldn't receive the vaccination due to age restrictions. This necessitated yet another appointment, causing unnecessary inconvenience. Adding to our frustration, my wife's postnatal checkup was abruptly halted, with instructions to return the following day for a female doctor - a requirement that wasn't initially communicated or explained. Our attempts to reschedule the vaccination led to further confusion. We received conflicting information about appointment dates, and our efforts to clarify by phone proved futile due to constant busy signals. When we finally made it to the clinic, we were once again turned away as our baby hadn't reached the required 8-week mark. The staff's attempts to deflect responsibility onto us for not knowing the correct timing only exacerbated our frustration. This ordeal has been particularly taxing on my wife, who is still recovering postpartum. The repeated, unnecessary trips to the clinic have taken a toll both physically and emotionally. Moreover, the frequent exposure of our infant to the clinical environment seems ill-advised and potentially risky. The apparent lack of consideration for new parents' challenges, coupled with poor communication and a seeming absence of accountability, has left us feeling unsupported during a vulnerable time. The financial burden of multiple taxi rides only adds insult to injury. I implore other expectant parents to be vigilant, ask probing questions, and share their experiences. Only through raising awareness can we hope to prompt meaningful changes in the system, ensuring that future parents don't have to endure similar ordeals during what should be a joyous, albeit challenging, period of their lives.

Endless wait: Doctor appointments out of reach

Obtaining registration was a breeze, but securing a consultation with a physician feels akin to embarking on a lunar expedition - an utterly unattainable feat. The process of booking an appointment is so arduous and elusive that one might as well attempt to traverse the cosmos. It's as if the medical staff inhabit a realm as distant and unreachable as Earth's celestial neighbor, leaving patients stranded in a frustrating orbit of endless waiting and unfulfilled healthcare needs.

Frustrating GP phone appointment experience

I've been dealing with this frustrating situation for four days now. Initially, I had a telephone appointment scheduled, and I waited patiently all day. Later, I received a message from the doctor claiming they had attempted to reach me. Truthfully, my home has excellent network coverage, and I've been registered with this GP service for nearly five years. When I tried to contact the receptionist, they dismissed my concerns, suggesting it was a problem with my network - which is utterly ridiculous. I even double-checked all my phone settings to be sure. Their solution? Simply rebook the appointment, as usual. Today, the same scenario unfolded. While I was casually scrolling on my phone, the GP called, only to drop the call within a second. I promptly called back, but they offered the same tired excuse. I've been suffering for four days, unable to even speak with a GP. What kind of world are we living in? It's high time you update your outdated systems immediately. I've successfully received all other official incoming calls - it's only the GP's calls that seem to mysteriously fail. This level of service is unacceptable, especially when patients are in need of medical attention.

Frustrating phone experience at pediatric clinic

I recently attempted to schedule an appointment for my newborn, but the experience left much to be desired. The wait time to reach someone was excessively long, typically exceeding half an hour. Once I finally connected with a receptionist, the interaction was frustratingly brief, lasting mere moments before the call was abruptly terminated. This pattern of behavior is not only unprofessional but also deeply concerning for a medical practice. The way they handle patient communication is simply unacceptable and needs significant improvement.

Loxford practice: A journey of ups and downs

My experience with the Loxford practice spans its entire existence. Initially, the physicians exhibited genuine enthusiasm for patient care. However, NHS budget cuts severely impacted the quality of medical services, making it nearly impossible to secure appointments or receive adequate treatment. Post-COVID-19, the practice has undergone some positive transformations. The doctors, particularly Dr. Hameed and colleagues, now demonstrate a renewed commitment to patient well-being and maintain a remarkably friendly demeanor. While the reception staff are evidently putting forth their best efforts, the management still has considerable room for improvement. Previously, the timely processing of repeat prescriptions was a persistent issue, but the implementation of a new online system has significantly streamlined the ordering process. Upon revisiting this review on August 16, 2024, I feel compelled to share a recent incident. After requesting a telephone consultation regarding an unusual reaction on my mother's forehead, I received no callback. When I followed up, a staff member named Ibrahim informed me that antibiotics had been prescribed. Confused, I inquired about the purpose of the prescription, given that I hadn't spoken with a doctor. Ibrahim claimed they were for an eye infection. When I clarified that the issue was on her forehead and emphasized the importance of a doctor's call to verify, Ibrahim's response was dismissive: "He's a doctor and you're not, innit? If he says it's an eye infection, then it's an eye infection, innit. Just collect the prescription and give it to her." This interaction exemplifies the subpar medical care my mother received at The Loxford Practice.

Loxford practice after one year

I failed miserably to solve vital problems such as COPD or respiratory problems, with this operation. I got some referrals, but that's it. No medicine, no solution. Very rarely a qualified person answers the reception. They are usually people who have no affinity with the profession they practice, being also very rude : they practically hang up the phone if you dare to ask for more details or try please for more additional information, and this after I can be on hold for hours , sometimes. Also, almost never talk to the same doctor, and out of ten minutes allotted, five minutes are wasted repeating the history. I will not recommend to anyone.

The most awful experience in my life

I am writing to share my deeply disappointing experience during my recent visit to Loxford Practice. My encounter left me feeling unheard, mistreated, and disheartened by the lack of understanding and empathy displayed by the GP I was seen. The doctor name was Dr Vijaya Pothora. Upon arriving at the practice, I was immediately made to feel uncomfortable when I was told to breastfeed my 10-week-old son in a special room rather than in the presence of her. This demand contradicted the widely accepted norm in England, where nursing in public is both customary and respected. This incident not only left me feeling embarrassed but also raised concerns about the practice's sensitivity to the needs of nursing mothers. It was even needed to be seen how my little one is nursing and behaving after eating in order to diagnose reflux. She prescribed something without even carefully investigate my son. I have read the leaflet of the medicine she prescribed to my son that it should be administered to 1 year old or above!!! Furthermore, I was taken aback by her questioning regarding my appointment's urgency and my reason for being late. Instead of approaching the situation with empathy and concern for my son's well-being, I was made to feel as if my valid concerns were being dismissed or questioned. I believe that every patient deserves to be treated with respect, empathy, and professionalism, regardless of their circumstances. It is disheartening that my experience at Loxford Practice failed to meet these basic expectations. I will be needed to look for another practice as this is highly unacceptable. I sincerely hope that my feedback will prompt a reevaluation of the practice's policies and staff training, so that future patients are treated with the consideration and understanding they deserve. No parent should have to endure such a distressing encounter during a vulnerable time.
