Feedback reflects a sharply divided patient experience at the practice. Positive comments highlight courtesy and professionalism among reception and nursing staff, compassionate care, responsive communication, and notably efficient dispensary service with rapid prescription processing. However, these strengths are substantially outweighed by widespread concerns about access and organisation.
Appointment availability emerges as a critical issue, with patients reporting waits of six weeks to three months for GP consultations, predominantly offered as phone rather than in-person appointments. Multiple reviews describe poor organisation, inadequate clinical staffing levels, and insufficient follow-up on discharge summaries from hospitals. Communication challenges are evident, with some patients reporting disrespectful interactions and dismissive responses to health concerns.
The practice environment is described as welcoming by some, yet others perceive it as overwhelmed and chaotic. Concerns about continuity of care and the lack of proper specialist referrals feature prominently in feedback, alongside criticism of reliance on non-GP staff for prescribing and referrals. The dispensary stands out as a consistently praised service element, though this cannot offset broader concerns about GP accessibility and the quality of clinical consultations.

Quick Help with My Prescription Renewal
I reached out to the dispensary when I realized I needed a medication review before being able to place an online order again. Naturally, I discovered this issue when attempting to order and found myself unable to do so. I called and spoke with an incredibly helpful representative who was exceptionally compassionate (even though the oversight was my own), and she successfully resolved my medication needs after I quickly consulted with a clinician. I wanted to emphasize that the dispensary truly exceeded my expectations, and I am immensely grateful. We've previously attempted to use local pharmacies for our prescriptions, with some taking over a week to process standard medications, whereas Marlborough dispensary manages repeat prescription requests in mere hours. I simply wanted to express that we deeply appreciate your service... Thank you!

Missed Details at Follow-Up GP Appointment
I took my wife to see her general practitioner two weeks after her discharge from the medical assessment unit following a minor stroke, with the intention of checking her blood pressure and conducting a blood test. Unfortunately, the doctor had not reviewed the discharge summary, which specifically requested these actions, and instead scheduled blood tests for three weeks in the future. Additionally, the physiotherapist from the stroke team had noted that the GP was expected to refer my wife for Parkinson's tests, but this was not addressed during the appointment. We are now reaching out to the stroke team at the GWH ward that initially discharged her. The GP also claimed that my wife was still under the hospital's stroke team's care, but when we contacted the ward, they confirmed this was incorrect. Once a patient is discharged with a summary, they become the responsibility of their GP, who should follow up on the recommended actions outlined in the discharge documentation.

Doctors missed my health issues for years
The medical care at this facility is utterly appalling, completely failing their fundamental responsibility to patients. I suffered from persistent urinary tract infections and was inexcusably left without a specialist referral for two entire years, despite multiple consultations. Similarly, a concerning eye lump was dismissively told to resolve itself, which it did not do for five years after its initial appearance. My former general practitioner also categorically denied my ADHD, baselessly arguing that my academic performance during GCSEs meant I could not have the condition, and instead attributed my evident struggles to mere inattentiveness. Ultimately, I was formally diagnosed with ADHD four years after this initial rejection. I cannot recommend this medical practice under any circumstances and strongly urge patients to seek healthcare elsewhere if at all possible.

Endless Wait for a Simple GP Appointment
Getting a GP appointment at this practice is painfully slow - it takes around a month just to secure a slot, and even then it's typically a phone consultation. It seems like only one doctor is working daily, with the rest of the staff being "Health & Wellbeing Coaches" instead of actual physicians. I'm specifically seeking a proper GP consultation. The administrative staff are consistently courteous (and there are plenty of them, especially compared to the scant number of doctors) but the overall service quality is completely inadequate. *update - as of May 7th, the earliest available appointment is June 20th, which is a phone consultation. I might as well use an AI chatbot for medical advice. The first in-person appointment isn't until June 25th! Absolutely unacceptable 🤯

Marlborough Practice: Zero Patience, Zero Care
If I could award zero stars, I absolutely would. I cannot stress enough how abysmal this medical practice is. It's mind-boggling that patients must endure over a month's wait just to have a brief phone consultation, and even then, we're simply brushed aside. Gone are the days of in-person appointments! Every single time I visit the surgery, the waiting room is completely deserted! Yet the receptionist insists they're swamped with patients? When I first registered here in 2022, the waiting room was always packed with people, but now there's not a single patient in sight. I've reached a point of total frustration where I can't even be bothered to contact the Surgery anymore. I'm definitely switching to another practice - they simply cannot be as terrible as Marlborough Practice. And if I happen to fall ill in the meantime, I'll just head to A&E or, I guess, just drop dead 🤷♀️

Compassionate Care at Marlborough Medical Practice
When relocating, changing medical practices can be intimidating, especially when leaving a supportive and responsive surgery. I was skeptical that any new practice could match my previous experience. However, the Marlborough surgery has completely exceeded my expectations. There are incredible healthcare professionals who work diligently and compassionately, often unnoticed, yet consistently making a profound impact. Every interaction continues to surprise me with their genuine dedication. These staff members consistently go above and beyond, demonstrating unwavering fairness and remarkable empathy. I've encountered such exceptional care both at my previous surgery and now at the Kennet and Avon / Marlborough Medical Practice. I feel incredibly fortunate to be within their catchment area. To anyone who has recently moved and is transferring to this surgery, I can confidently say you are extremely fortunate and can trust that you will receive outstanding care and support.

Waited Three Years to See a GP
Without a doubt, this is the most poorly managed Medical Practice I have ever been associated with. After three years in Marlborough, I only recently saw a GP for the first time. They insist on sending patients for blood tests to Pewsey, despite Savernake Hospital being three times larger and located in the same town. This is unquestionably the most disorganized healthcare institution I've encountered. Prescriptions require dealing with an entirely separate department. Getting an appointment with a GP takes a minimum of three months. When you finally manage a phone consultation, you'll feel like you've won a miraculous prize just to speak with a doctor from their chaotic team - many of whom are eagerly anticipating retirement and likely haven't even bothered to review your medical history. The practice is completely overwhelmed, with seemingly no concern for patient care. You're far more likely to encounter Junior Doctor GPs at Swindon A&E or paramedics inside an ambulance than to ever see a proper GP from this medical farce.

Dismissive Doctor Ignored My Daughter's Health Concerns
Absolutely terrible physician, disrespectful and cold-hearted, he completely disregarded the critical health concerns we shared, interrupted my daughter and dismissively brushed off our worries. Steer clear of this medical office at all costs!

Terrible care in Marlborough medical practice
Undoubtedly the most disastrous medical practice I have ever encountered. I was compelled to seek their services multiple times for a health concern, and the experience was nothing short of abysmal. Initially, securing an appointment was a Herculean task. When I finally did, a triage nurse hastily prescribed antibiotics for a condition that clearly did not warrant such treatment. Attempting to secure a proper doctor's consultation was equally challenging, resulting in a phone call with a physician who was arrogant, completely devoid of compassion, and dismissive of my symptoms. My in-person appointment was equally frustrating, with the doctor attributing my condition to mental health issues - the final straw. Desperate for proper care, I turned to private healthcare, which promptly conducted the correct tests and diagnosed a genuine medical condition requiring treatment. Thanks to their professional approach, I am now fully recovered (so much for the mental health misdiagnosis). This practice is an absolute menace to anyone in the Marlborough area, made worse by the fact that the alternative practice, Pewsey, is owned by the same company and equally poorly reviewed. It is incomprehensible how an affluent region can host such a substandard medical facility. My advice to Marlborough residents: invest in private healthcare to avoid potential medical negligence. This practice is a serious risk to anyone needing genuine medical attention. Medical review boards, I implore you to investigate this organization immediately.

Quick and thorough care at Pewsey clinic
I must emphasize the exceptional efficiency and professionalism of the Pewsey KAMP team. I received immediate attention on the day of triage, with a comprehensive examination conducted by both the nurse and doctor. They followed up promptly after receiving my results, and a clear treatment plan was established.

Long Wait Times Frustrate Patients
Scheduling an appointment here is incredibly challenging. The waiting period stretches to at least six weeks, and on top of that, you're required to pay for parking, which adds to the frustration.

Doctors Who Actually Listen to Me
Medical professionals here who genuinely pay attention to your concerns instead of pushing their agenda, regardless of how misaligned or unnecessary it might be - absolutely fantastic, and I hope more healthcare providers would adopt this approach. The nursing team is equally commendable, displaying warmth and professionalism, and the front desk personnel are equally impressive. They also offer an extensive array of specialized medical services, with their diabetic care program being particularly noteworthy and meeting my expectations perfectly. I can confidently endorse this practice to anyone seeking compassionate and comprehensive healthcare.
